purpleronnie Posted 24 April 2008 Posted 24 April 2008 Barca need a score draw to go through. A 0-0 and it goes to penalties. I never said they didn't, man u have to win barcelona don't, advantage barca in my book.
placidcasual Posted 24 April 2008 Posted 24 April 2008 I never said they didn't, man u have to win barcelona don't, advantage barca in my book. You said they only needed a draw to go through. I was merely pointing out that they needed a score draw. Which is slightly different. Unless you know of a UEFA rule which allows the away team in the second leg to go through in the event of 2 0-0 draws?
Ultra Posted 24 April 2008 Posted 24 April 2008 Well United looks odds on to win the Premier League and are in a good position in Europe and if im not mistaken he's playing in Euro 2008 as well. He'll win it, hands down. United could easily win jack. They're starting to fade at the most crucial part of the season. Half a dozen could pick up the awards, it depends how they do in Euro 2008. Ronaldo isn't a shoo-in by any means.

I garuntee Ronaldo wins most of the awards this year, and if he doesnt then there is no justice in football. Who do you think deserves it then Ultra?
Ultra Posted 24 April 2008 Posted 24 April 2008 Ronaldo may have a stack of goals to his name. But most of them have either been penalties or against poor Premier League defences. In big games against title or Champions League rivals his record has been mediocre at best. I predict here and now that Saturday at Stamford Bridge will be no different. There are many top European stars who could shine at Euro 2008, and outdo Ronaldo for player of the year awards. Toni, Torres and Anelka are just three examples. Of course, he could remove any doubts by helping both United and Portugal to the top prizes. But I don't think he's mature enough yet to pull that off.

And at the end of the day, Derby aside, they're all Premier League defences.

Luca Toni or Anelka for World Player of the Year. Neither of them have been close to what Ronaldo has done over the last 2 season's. Ronaldo has near enough won Yanited the league this season and did last year with priceless goals against Fulham last season.

And of course the presence of Tevez and Rooney alongside him. plus the best defence in the league, have had absolutely nothing to do with it.. I'm sure that Sir Alex would agree that those games, against such close title rivals as Fulham, were so instrumental to lifting the title.
The People's Hero Posted 24 April 2008 Posted 24 April 2008 Who let boy genius loose in here? Jazus! Luca Toni? Anelka? FK'FF Ultra, tw@t! Ronaldo has got it in the bag.

Yes that game against Fulham was instrumental when it was like 3rd last game of the season and Ronaldo pops up with winner 5 minutes from time with a winner. Face it Ultra you are completely wrong about Ronaldo and you just dont want to admit it?

You can't deny Ronaldo has scored some absolutely crucial goals. I also think it's hard to deny that he is the difference between United and Arsenal/Chelsea.

I also think it's hard to deny that he is the difference between United and Arsenal/Chelsea. Ultra denies: a) Who he is b) The right of foxestalkers to live within a cu nt like him bothering us c) The rights of women to choose who they sleep with I don't think adding d) Ronaldo is a bloody good player is going to be much of an ask for him.

The events at Stamford Bridge might just suggest I have a point... And by the way, that Fulham game last season was in February..
Joe. Posted 26 April 2008 Posted 26 April 2008 There's no doubts that Ronaldo will scoop probably all of the awards this year. And he deserves it. To score the amount of goals he has this season from midfield is phenomenal really. Even your argument against them being against poor sides is pretty void Ultra, it's the Premiership and Derby aside there isn't a particularly poor side. And you can only score against what's put in front of you can't you? And this is coming from somebody who doesn't think he's the best in the world either.
Tilley Posted 26 April 2008 Posted 26 April 2008 Barca just lost to Deportivo. Man Utd lost to Chelsea. Nicely poised at 0 - 0. Something's gotta give!

Ronaldo's played much of the season as a striker. And if you really think that Derby's is the ONLY poor defence in the top flight, then you clearly still have a lot to learn.

Well obviously there are poor defences in the Premier league but Derby are an extreme in this case. Ronaldo has scored 28 goals this season in this division and that is some feat, regardless of what defences are like in the Premirship.

SO Anelka has 28 league goals? And the Bundesliga defences are hardly better than the Premier League's eyt Ronaldo has 8 more league goals.
