Mikey Posted 29 April 2008 Posted 29 April 2008 Great win there for United. They kept Barca out superbly. However: Ronaldo= poor man's Messi. Tbh Ronaldo did his part. Made some superb defensive headers and kept the ball very well. Weren't the most glamorous performance but I think he did his job.
Fez of Mahrez Posted 29 April 2008 Posted 29 April 2008 Same old Barca away from home. Pathetic. They look like a team waiting for the season to end so they can all f**k off elsewhere.

SamL Posted 29 April 2008 Posted 29 April 2008 Very good result for Man United, a job well done. Barca had the majority of the possession but never really opened up Uniteds defence. They didn't look particularly dangerous but it was a very good defensive performance from United.

I wouldn't say they were pathetic at all, but we all have different views. They were completely toothless in attack but they always tried and endeavoured to break Man Utd down.
Finnegan Posted 29 April 2008 Posted 29 April 2008 I have to say I'm a little bit disappointed that we're getting an all English final. Now hear me out, 'cos that really isn't a 32428043th dig at England; it's just that as a football fan with Sky living in the UK I can the 'Big Four' play each other thousands of times per season. All of their head to heads are on TV, they're nearly always in our League Cup finals and our FA Cup finals and it's just a little tiresome really. I think it's a really big missed opportunity to just have a repeat of said fixtures in arguably the most exciting game on the footballing calendar, domestic or international. It's not even like you can argue it's that great for English football or anything, it's not like days gone by when the majority of said teams' players represent their country. At least Barcelona have a fair amount of Spanish talent. And I'm not sure Ronaldo is a poor man's Messi. In fact I think I'd argue Ronaldo's all-round game may even be superior. Don't get me wrong I think I prefer the Argentine, and his touch and dribbling skills are absolutely beyond parallel. I honestly in my lifetime can't remember watching a better dribbler of the ball than Leo Messi (Tricky Trev aside.) But Ronaldo just seems to be able to do.. well, everything, really.
sdb Posted 29 April 2008 Posted 29 April 2008 Messi did nothing, and to call him the new Maradona is an Insult to a great player pfff he looked pretty dangerous to me; utd were lucky the rest of the barca team weren't on the same level it's mad that a team of their ability rely so heavily on a 20 year old p.s. nani was shite
Corky Posted 29 April 2008 Posted 29 April 2008 Barcelona had so much possession, but just didn't shoot. Henry looked a shadow of the palyer he was at Arsenal, Messi was superb (reminded me of Scotty Taylor ). Man Utd did well, great goal from Scholes, but they will have to improve for the final.

Uncle Albert Posted 29 April 2008 Posted 29 April 2008 Messi was good, but he still isnt in the same league as Ronaldo. Wes Brown and Patrice Evra were class tonight for Yanited, and Deco played well aswell. Disappointed in Henry.

I was joking somewhat, don't worry. I'd agree Ronaldo is more of a complete player than Messi yes, but tonight Messi was clearly above the rest of his team mates. And like you say, his dribbling is phenomenal. I don't think I can recall one time tonight when he didn't manage to beat his man effortlessly. For now I'd say Ronaldo is the better player. But Messi's certainly got what it takes to become his equal, if not overtake him. There's certainly aspects to his game that are better than Ronaldo's currently.

Disappointed in Henry. I agree with what you say about Messi and Ronaldo. Although he played better than him tonight, I still think that Ronaldo is the better player. Henry is wasted out on the left, when he come on I thought he would change the game but he was un-effective.
sdb Posted 29 April 2008 Posted 29 April 2008 I agree, I thought Nani had a decent game. #he gave away possession SO much!!
Uncle Albert Posted 29 April 2008 Posted 29 April 2008 Compared to the likes of Zambrotta, Hargreaves, Milito and Puyol. Nani kept the ball pretty well.
Jack Posted 29 April 2008 Posted 29 April 2008 #he gave away possession SO much!! The thing that Nani needs to improve in his game is knowing when to pass the ball. At times he just holds onto the ball for too long which sometimes leads to him loosing the ball like he did tonight. He is still a real threat though. Could of had one tonight when he took a few defenders on but lacked composure at the finish.

Och, when Messi took it around Scholes at the byline I almost came. That little quick foot-to-foot tap around was disgustingly sexual. And one thing Messi won't ever have is Ronaldo's physical presence and aerial dominance which is a really underrated factor in his game.

Not in the same league as Ronaldo, especially when he did that disgustingly sexual peice of skill round Puyol to put a cross in.

That little quick foot-to-foot tap around was disgustingly sexual. And one thing Messi won't ever have is Ronaldo's physical presence and aerial dominance which is a really underrated factor in his game. He just walked past Scholes like he wasn't even there! And he just did exactly that all night. Yeah I think you're right, Messi will never have the physical aspects to his game but his dribbling ability generally makes up for this. I think Messi's ball control also deserves a mention- his touch is just sublime.
Fox You Forest Posted 29 April 2008 Posted 29 April 2008 Well that game actually made me fall asleep. Wasnt great but i thought it was a lot better than the first leg and an absolute cracker from Scholes sort it out Mr Capello.
lildave3 Posted 29 April 2008 Posted 29 April 2008 Messi was good, but he still isnt in the same league as Ronaldo.Wes Brown and Patrice Evra were class tonight for Yanited, and Deco played well aswell. Disappointed in Henry. I bet that still won't shut the people who constantly slag him off up though.
Uncle Albert Posted 29 April 2008 Posted 29 April 2008 I bet that still won't shut the people who constantly slag him off up though. Nah it wont, only the idiots will be the one's who come on here and say he was shite. Filled in for Vidic very well, and Messi and co, never looked like getting through with mighty Wes there.
Joe. Posted 29 April 2008 Posted 29 April 2008 Brown had a great game tonight yes but you have to admit he's a liability at times. He's really not that good at all in my opinion, definitely not England quality. But fair play to him this season, he seems to have had a decent one.
Finnegan Posted 29 April 2008 Posted 29 April 2008 Not in the same league as Ronaldo, especially when he did that disgustingly sexual peice of skill round Puyol to put a cross in. Ruuuuuuubbbish. Ronaldo just did a step over and rolled it under his boot. Ronaldo is a good player, I agree with you, but he had a fairly quiet night tonight and just grafted a result out with the rest of his team. A fairly mature performance, I thought. To call him in an all together different league as Messi is absolute ignorance.
