Tommy G Posted 30 April 2008 Posted 30 April 2008 Oh my what a strike.Tommy G will be erect. Cue Tommy G Paul Scholes orgasm post.Unless he's already done it, I haven't looked through the thread yet. Apologies I didn't come on FT last night but yes I can confirm I did enjoy the goal. Im please that he will be able to play in the final as he missed out through suspension last time. After all the hype about messi, ronaldo, deco, Iniesta etc it was Scholes who made the difference last night. People still doubt whether he is still up to it, he prioved last night that he's still a top class player.
purpleronnie Posted 30 April 2008 Posted 30 April 2008 Yep Ronaldo was poor again, well done to Man U I thought Barca would get through, despite dominating possession again they failed to make any good chances.
Fat Ron Posted 30 April 2008 Posted 30 April 2008 Agonisingly I have to say that Wes Brown played very well last night
Tommy G Posted 30 April 2008 Posted 30 April 2008 Agonisingly I have to say that Wes Brown played very well last night Why do people doubt his ability anyway? he's a quality defender IMO
DB11 Posted 30 April 2008 Posted 30 April 2008 Why do people doubt his ability anyway? he's a quality defender IMO On Football Manager he is rated better than Ferdinand
Tommy G Posted 30 April 2008 Posted 30 April 2008 On Football Manager he is rated better than Ferdinand Yeh but FM is a make believe. It's not real despite what some people think. Raw defending wise Brown is probably better, but Rio has other attributes that are much better than Brown such as pace, reading the game and linking play etc

Vidic get's him out of so much trouble.
Sparky Posted 30 April 2008 Posted 30 April 2008 Ferdinand is very overated. Vidic get's him out of so much trouble. I used to think Rio was overated few years back but credit where it is due he has been excellent the past 2 or 3 seasons and i rate a lot higher than John Terry now who seems like he has lost any pace he had since his injurys
Durnerz Posted 30 April 2008 Posted 30 April 2008 Carraghers nowhere near the best centre back in the Prem, never has been. Skrtel on the other hand I think will be a huge asset to Liverpool and one to watch next season.

Damn right. Carragher gets praised for his effort. I don't really rate him either tbh.
Fox You Forest Posted 30 April 2008 Posted 30 April 2008 Ferdinand is very overated. Vidic get's him out of so much trouble. That sounds very familiar.
Corky Posted 30 April 2008 Posted 30 April 2008 That sounds very familiar. I know, Jimmy Willis with Nicky Mohan/Brian Carey spring to mind
Thracian Posted 30 April 2008 Posted 30 April 2008 He just walked past Scholes like he wasn't even there! And he just did exactly that all night. Yeah I think you're right, Messi will never have the physical aspects to his game but his dribbling ability generally makes up for this. I think Messi's ball control also deserves a mention- his touch is just sublime. Defensively Scholes tackles like a one-sailed windmill but what a magnificent strike for the goal - you just knew when you saw the set up that he was going to do that. Commeth the hour and that... Messi's not the all round threat Ronaldo is but how Barcelona managed to get so little from so much skill I really don't know. In the right set-up the man could be mesmerising. Barcelona simply had too many ordinary performers and Henry looks like his batteries have gone flat.
sdb Posted 30 April 2008 Posted 30 April 2008 Skrtel and Agger in a few years time. They will run the show. wouldn't been suprised if Carra's looking over his shoulder next season. Agger and Skrtle are both brilliant centre backs and i'm sure we'll see Carragher at RB a lot next season
sdb Posted 30 April 2008 Posted 30 April 2008 as for the Ferdinand & Messi debates - both are absolutely brilliant Rio's the best centre back in the world at the moment, and Messi's as good as Ronaldo - those who say otherwise don't watch spanish football. Ronaldo's had a better season but Messi's injury prone.

Its also funny how many journalists also state this and the players concerned are often english strange that all these best players in the world can't even qualify for tournaments.
