Ultra Posted 6 May 2008 Posted 6 May 2008 Fryatt and Hume partnership being brought back and them both scoring on a regular basis Andy King may getting a few games.... Stears playing centre half.... Howard / Campbell jumping ship... Hume will be off, and Fryatt (who's been shockingly poor for the last two seasons) can follow him. All of the high earners (Clemence, Oakley, N'Gotty, Campbell, Clapham, Howard) can also be offloaded. They didn't come here to play in League 1, and we don't want them to. Bring in young players who are untainted by cynicism and fear, and who relish the chance of playing before big crowds. And give them a manager who will nurture and encourage their talent, rather than fill their heads with negative thoughts like the last umpteen bosses have done.
LeeCovFox Posted 6 May 2008 Posted 6 May 2008 I'm pretty optimistic. I really believe that we are only two quality wingers, and perhaps a creative midfielder away from being a very good Championship side, let alone League One. Of course I expect the make up of the playing staff to change fairly drastically so this may not be the case for much longer. If we learn to attack, we will win this league. Frankly, I don't think we would have been a million miles away from West Brom this season had we been capable of attacking teams and if we had been managed properly, from top to bottom.
Guest Posted 6 May 2008 Posted 6 May 2008 - Maybe the likes of Douglas, Elvis etc who have clogged up our wage bill will think themselves "too good for League 1" and clear off They're off this year anyway ain't they? Nowt to do with bein too good for any league.
Phube Posted 6 May 2008 Author Posted 6 May 2008 But Phubes don't do away... Ahhh, 'tis true... But I'm being optimistic for EVERYONE!
SOCCERROO FOX Posted 6 May 2008 Posted 6 May 2008 More people in live chat nude, cos no-one wants to go to Brighton away
mancunianfox Posted 6 May 2008 Posted 6 May 2008 I'll have quite a few games nearby this season in Huddersfield, Oldham, Crewe, Tranmere, Doncaster. Games will be cheaper and a few grounds have terracing. I might get to see Leicester win regularly and watch a team of young hungry players getting a game instead of the old journeymen and foreigners who I have endured playing for us this season. I will still be able to support the club that I love and the fixture list will change nothing about my enthusiasm for the club.
Babylon Posted 6 May 2008 Posted 6 May 2008 Is anyone else weirdly looking forward to experiencing a different league.
Phube Posted 6 May 2008 Author Posted 6 May 2008 Another point... i'm sure year on year (well according to Soccer AM) that League 1 has the highest number of goals per game than the rest of the Leagues! More goals = more entertaining!
Number 6 Posted 6 May 2008 Posted 6 May 2008 Another point... i'm sure year on year (well according to Soccer AM) that League 1 has the highest number of goals per game than the rest of the Leagues!More goals = more entertaining! no necessarily, though as we are being optimistic, it would be nice to see some goals!
Dom_Harborough Fox Posted 6 May 2008 Posted 6 May 2008 I'm feeling quite optimistic myself. I'm looking forward to hopefully seeing a few of the younger players getting a bit of a run in the team & if they impress, going on to form the core of a new team that will help us climb the divisions & eventually back to (dare I say it) the Premiership. We have some exciting young talent at the club. Unfortunately they have had to sit on the sidelines due to the number of signings we have made & the fact that we have been fighting for our lives at the bottom of the table for several seasons, leading our various managers to stick with experience in the main & not wanting to risk playing our young players in a relegation scrap. Now, however, I think some of our more experienced players will either be snapped up by championship teams over the summer or FINALLY out of contract. I doubt we will be able to attract many experience ex-premiership/championship players this summer with the prospect of playing in league 1 a big deterrent. I hope this means we will finally get to see some of these youngsters getting their rewards. After all, we won the Youth Premier League only last year so there is plenty of quality there. I'm looking fowrad to it myself.

Dom_Harborough Fox Posted 6 May 2008 Posted 6 May 2008 Apparently we've got one of the best academy's in the country! Not sure if thats true though! Yep, like i say, we won the academy league last year & i think we finished 3rd this year but i'm not certain. Either way we were there or thereabouts so there's definitely reason for optimism there
