Phube Posted 5 May 2008 Posted 5 May 2008 Reasons to be cheerful: 1) We can win a league we've never won before. 2) Can anyone say Johnston's Paint Trophy - with a possible trip to Wembley! 3) Brighton is by the sea. 4) We might actually win 2 games on the trot!

To think that we will just walk in and trounce the whole League, is a little delusional. We have BIG problems at the moment and if we don't sort them out, we will struggle in League 1 too.

StroudFox Posted 5 May 2008 Posted 5 May 2008 9) Less sky coverage - meaning less draws hopefully! (or is that a bad thing?!)
Phube Posted 5 May 2008 Author Posted 5 May 2008 8) Less sky coverage - meaning less draws hopefully! (or is that a bad thing?!) Ahhh... but any League 1 Sky game will involve us... ahve you seen who's in OUR league next season...
StroudFox Posted 5 May 2008 Posted 5 May 2008 Ahhh... but any League 1 Sky game will involve us... ahve you seen who's in OUR league next season... They don't show that many League 1 games though do they, or have I just not taken much notice because it was 'below' us!!
sdb Posted 5 May 2008 Posted 5 May 2008 10) a chance to see how great our youth players are 11) a chance to see how out of their depth our youth players are, thus giving Thrac's computer/keyboard/electricity supplier a break, and his family a chance to meet him
Wilkesy Posted 5 May 2008 Posted 5 May 2008 8) Cheap away tickets. Hopefully, but they may put the prices up as we are seen as a 'big' club

Basingstoke Fox Posted 5 May 2008 Posted 5 May 2008 We ca have a fresh start, get rid of dead wood and start again. Also Swindon, Cheltenham, Yeovil and Brighton away
StroudFox Posted 6 May 2008 Posted 6 May 2008 Pfft Teachers it's all that striking slacking. Do you know what, I just reread that and realised it made no sense!! I transposed some of the words when I read it!! How about that instead!!

Get off the optimistic thread!
Sooper Steve's shin Posted 6 May 2008 Posted 6 May 2008 Not sure what number we're on now, but: - Hopefully less of the lazy Prem rejects just coming here for the money - Maybe the likes of Douglas, Elvis etc who have clogged up our wage bill will think themselves "too good for League 1" and clear off - Chance of regular first team football for some of our youngsters (Weso, Ashley Chambers, Mattock etc) without the pressure of the Championship - More realistic hopes of gaining promotion (there would be some who'd have thought we'd be challenging for it in the Championship if we'd stayed up - no chance) - The possibility of seeing more wins/goals (not guaranteed, of course, but theoretically more likely!) - We may get some value out of the fringe players that don't go (James Chambers, Sappleton, Hellings(!) etc) - maybe that Martin Allen was planning for the future after all...
OriginalRobboFOX Posted 6 May 2008 Posted 6 May 2008 Fryatt and Hume partnership being brought back and them both scoring on a regular basis Andy King may getting a few games.... Stears playing centre half.... Howard / Campbell jumping ship...
Daggers Posted 6 May 2008 Posted 6 May 2008 2) Can anyone say Johnston's Paint Trophy - with a possible trip to Wembley!3) Brighton is by the sea. But Phubes don't do away...
Thracian Posted 6 May 2008 Posted 6 May 2008 We're significantly closer to getting a real local derby - against Hinckley United.
