JoeyB Posted 6 May 2008 Posted 6 May 2008 Why does noone like him exactly? Just because he managed cov is that it? TBH if dowie wanted the job i think he would be the leading candidate for it. HE knows this level, was here with Oldham, got palace to the prem, frob being in the bottom 3 at christmas, and people dont want him. Why?

JoeyB Posted 6 May 2008 Author Posted 6 May 2008 So just because he managed cov then. I still think he would be the best person to do the job, if we got rid of ollie, and would like to see him here
iancognito Posted 6 May 2008 Posted 6 May 2008 He had a good run with Palace but bottomed out in the Prem. Then he went to Charlton after struggling in the championship and got sacked because of his methods and training styles. When he went to Cov, he led them from 12th albeit on a shoestring to 17th. His record isn't actually that good and there are coaches like O'Leary, Staunton, Davies and the like who play better football and have better records. I have nothing against him but he wouldn't be anywhere near my first choice, he's certainly no better than Holloway.

General Smuts Posted 6 May 2008 Posted 6 May 2008 I'd much rather O'Leary but i wouldn't argue against Staunton or Davies either.
Uncle Albert Posted 6 May 2008 Posted 6 May 2008 Dowie isnt my main choice but he did do well with Palace. But that is all he has achieved in football. Dave 'bleeding' Bassett acheived that and look at that wally. I want a manager who is going to get the player's playing for the club and not for there wage packets. My ideal choice for the job is somebody who is fresh, someone who can come in with a clean slate and manage the club the way he wants and with his players in his squad. Thats not to much to ask is it?
Joe. Posted 6 May 2008 Posted 6 May 2008 I'd personally like Davies or Newell should Holloway be sacked. Saying this I'm currently happy (ish) with our manager situation. I'm still deciding to be honest.

Dom_Harborough Fox Posted 6 May 2008 Posted 6 May 2008 Dowie may well do a half-decent job should he come here. I think he did a terrific job at Palace but I've not been impressed with him since then. As well as that I don't like the way he left Palace saying he wanted to move nearer to his family up north & then he turned up at Charlton a few weeks later. I think this proves that his reason for leaving was a blatant lie. Simon Jordan actually took him to court over false claims about why he left & won so that pretty much puts that debate to bed. There's just something I don't really like about the idea of having him at the helm. I would prefer someone with a better record & someone who we can 'trust' if there is such a person in football today
General Smuts Posted 6 May 2008 Posted 6 May 2008 Exactly how i'm feeling.Newell tempts me. You're ... Agreeing ... With me?
Sparky Posted 6 May 2008 Posted 6 May 2008 I'd much rather O'Leary but i wouldn't argue against Staunton or Davies either. Staunton would be my worst nightmare , id have big ron infront of him !
lildave3 Posted 6 May 2008 Posted 6 May 2008 You're ... Agreeing ... With me? Who could disagree with someone who does such a mean Bruno impression?
Uncle Albert Posted 6 May 2008 Posted 6 May 2008 Staunton would be my worst nightmare , id have big ron infront of him ! Big Ron, now thats a shout.
Fox You Forest Posted 6 May 2008 Posted 6 May 2008 Staunton would be my worst nightmare , id have big ron infront of him ! Im with you on that one wouldnt want him cutting the grass never mind running the team. Although i am perched on the fence next to Smuts and Lildave the more i think about it the more i think give him a chance to put it right.
General Smuts Posted 6 May 2008 Posted 6 May 2008 Who could disagree with someone who does such a mean Bruno impression? Wait and see me score at one of the FT games now! It gets rolled out EVERY time i score in 5 a side
lildave3 Posted 6 May 2008 Posted 6 May 2008 Wait and see me score at one of the FT games now!It gets rolled out EVERY time i score in 5 a side Surely it can't matched my by Julius Aghahowa/Lua Lua/Nani/Other acrobatic crazy people impressions?
fox123 Posted 6 May 2008 Posted 6 May 2008 Exactly how i'm feeling.Newell tempts me. Milan Mandaric and Mike Newell!!!!? I smell pigs
Filberts lovechild Posted 6 May 2008 Posted 6 May 2008 Big Ron, now thats a shout. Yeah the press would have a field day with Big Ron stood infront of our Foxes Against Racism advertisement board ha ha! I seriously think Mike Newell is a very good shout thinking more about it! He did wonders at Luton on practically no budget at all, the board sold all his best players for a profit then sacked him because the team started playing rubbish! Seriously get Newell in Mandaric! He has some pretty funny views of match officials as well so I hear
General Smuts Posted 6 May 2008 Posted 6 May 2008 Surely it can't matched my by Julius Aghahowa/Lua Lua/Nani/Other acrobatic crazy people impressions? You do that and i will hug you ever so tight. Meanwhile anyone else for the Holloway Fence?
