l444ry Posted 18 May 2008 Posted 18 May 2008 Oh, come on you youngsters. It may be your experience of Leicester City is so short as to be addled in the brain but many a manager would come to the club at the drop of a hat.

Rich Fox Posted 18 May 2008 Posted 18 May 2008 Blackpool have more money than us And ive got more money than you
act smiley Posted 18 May 2008 Posted 18 May 2008 Blackpool have more money than us Howso, when they can't afford to finish their stadium? From memory, they've got one really dodgy owner and some crazy Latvian guy who is rather minted but can't put his money in if the dodgy guy, who refuses to leave, doesn't match it, which he won't. Or something like that. I seem to remember it being something complex and bizarre to mean that although some of their owners are rich the club don't get any of their cash.
Ultra Posted 18 May 2008 Posted 18 May 2008 I didn't see Blackpool spending too much money on strengthening their squad over the season. Grayson did well to keep them up (aided heavily by six points from us) on such a limited budget. But he may not fancy his chances of being able to repeat that achievement. So it's not totally out of the question that we could tempt him.

I agree with that, he will have money to spend here, and a decent amount for the division i'd have thought. Even if it is rasied by player sales.
iancognito Posted 18 May 2008 Posted 18 May 2008 I like Grayson and he's obviously done brilliantly at Blackpool but I'd hate to see his reputation with the club and managerially shot to pieces by our poison chalice of a job. Given that Paul Lambert is said to be considering his future at Wycombe following their defeat in the play-offs, I'd say he was a better bet. A Champions League winner as your manager isn't a bad place to start. All of this is ifs and maybe's though. I was more excited by the story that Wolves are chasing Steve Howard. That bid can't come soon enough for me.

But if you accept the argument that we need someone who actually cares for the fortunes of the club (and I don't know if you do, but I am swaying to that opinion) then you have to let someone like Grayson have a go sooner or later. The quote last summer was that he would have crawled over broken glass to get the job (from someone trustworthy on TB as my memory serves). I suspect that the challenge of resurrecting us would be a very strong pull for him indeed.

No, I'll accept that and, to be fair, Holloway and Grayson have both got promoted from this division the same number of times so he's not exactly inexperienced in this league. I dunno, I just have one of those feelings that it's not the right time or the right appointment. If it happens and it works, Milan would be seen as a genius and Grayson would have his place in the history of the club carved in stone. If it didn't work out, both would be out on their arse and the club would be on it's arse. More so.
AoWW Posted 18 May 2008 Posted 18 May 2008 That wasn't a slating.... I meant that the fact that Blackpool are a division higher than us is a really graphic way of "slamming it home" just how far we've sunk. Apologies for the misunderstanding Oh, ok, my mistake. Apology accepted. And apologies for being a moody mare.
