Didn't see much of him play last season so can't say if he's improved, stayed at the same level or gone backwards but impressed me when he first moved up to the under 18s. Lack of pace is probably his biggest weakness though.

Not sure to be honest, is hard to judge how they'll end up really. He never looked amazingly gifted but some still manage to make it quite far on mainly effort. Personally I can't see him making it here. Just gives us an extra year to see how he comes on but good luck to him

Fez of Mahrez Posted 20 May 2008 Posted 20 May 2008 Garner was good 06/07 when I saw him. We're a bit thin on the ground for CBs. Be good if he got some experience at League 2 or Conference level before we chuck him in at all though.

Think he did that night. Can't remember much about that game but I do like the way Rowe-Turner plays normally. Not sure how long he's been playing as a centre back for because he hardly played for the under 18s during 06/07 and when he did come on he played on the left. Not sure why he hasn't been offered a pro contract this summer. I think they can give him another year as a scholar so they might be doing that instead

The improvement in Garner has been considerable but that's from a starting point where I thought him the worst centre-back I'd seen in City colours a couple of seasons back. He's strong in the air, a stalwart defender and seems to have cut out most of the silly mistakes that marred his game when he first appeared on the scene. But I've seen no improvement in his distribution. He's a typical city centre-back in that way and if he doesn't learn to pass I can see uis having the same problems we've had in previous seasons. Good luck to the lad though.
