Tomassi Posted 5 June 2008 Posted 5 June 2008 with it being at st. pasturs is it gonna change to a 6 a side now ?
davieG Posted 5 June 2008 Author Posted 5 June 2008 So we've got 8 people for a 5 a side team? with it being at st. pasturs is it gonna change to a 6 a side now ? Well I guess some are bound to drop out and as Tomassi says change to 6 a side, if the pitches are big enough. With 3 hours booked we could also consider making it 20 minutes a game so more opportunity to use subs. I'd still be relunctant to change it to 5 or 6 teams as it becomes harder to come up with a suitable round of games or it will take so much longer than we've got time booked
Sparky Posted 5 June 2008 Posted 5 June 2008 If it did get switched to 5 or 6 teams then id fancy playing as well as running the event , if not ill continue as organiser
davieG Posted 5 June 2008 Author Posted 5 June 2008 If it did get switched to 5 or 6 teams then id fancy playing as well as running the event , if not ill continue as organiser The problem with 5/6 teams is it doesn't suit a knock out, you would have to give teams byes and if you go to a round robin you up it to 10 games at 15+5 each would take 3hrs 20 minutes to complete. With 4 teams it's 6 games taking 2 hours plus plenty of time for a play-off and contingencies.
Bert Posted 5 June 2008 Posted 5 June 2008 Leave it how it is i say, and then: Top 2 play each other to see who wins, and the two bottom teams have 3rd/4th place play off just to make it a bit more interesting?
lildave3 Posted 5 June 2008 Posted 5 June 2008 Would we have enough time to do a league then a knockout? So 3 games on top of the league games. Probably not.

The People's Hero Posted 6 June 2008 Posted 6 June 2008 That TPH is pretty good with the ball played to his feet.
Uncle Albert Posted 6 June 2008 Posted 6 June 2008 1st - D2nd - B 3rd - A 4th - C You on something Maybes?
Flynny Posted 6 June 2008 Posted 6 June 2008 For the sake of arguement, if we had 5 teams and everyone played each other once, that'd be 10 games. If you played 12 minute games leaving 3 minutes of every 15 free for changeovers, thats 2 1/2 hours, leaving half an hour free for deciders if people want a playoff or something. Everyone would get 48 minutes playing at least, if I've worked that out correctly. If not I'm an idiot, sorry. You should probably say no more people now. Whats getting people riled with about every single idea is the sheer volume of people and no-one setting a limit to start with.
Tevez Posted 6 June 2008 Posted 6 June 2008 Agreed ^ Keep it as 4 teams and see how it goes. If it's succesful then we can expand it by 3 maybe 4 more teams.
Bert Posted 12 June 2008 Posted 12 June 2008 Are we going to make this 6 a side? With it being half a full size and a lot of players?
Maybes Posted 12 June 2008 Posted 12 June 2008 Are we going to make this 6 a side? With it being half a full size and a lot of players? My view is that we should.
lildave3 Posted 12 June 2008 Posted 12 June 2008 My view is that we should. As is mine. Less running too.

I did suggest that as a viable option if the pitches were big enough so I'd a definite yes. I'll change the thread title to 6 a side.

We have a half pitch for 3 hours, so i'll leave it up to Sparky/davieG to decide the timings of the games and finer details. But we must pay before we play. So if everyone can get there by 11:45 at the latest to make sure we get the full alloted time and that we pay in advance. Costing was £21 per hour for 3 hours. So £21*3 = £63. So we need to pay that between us. Which works out at about £16 a team. Which isnt too bad. Any questions regarding the pitch booking then let me know. Date & Time: July 5th 12 to 3pm - Be there at 11.45am Manager of the Day - Sparky Groundsman - Bigneville Assistant Manager (if he can make it) - davieG
lildave3 Posted 12 June 2008 Posted 12 June 2008 Are people welcome to watch free of charge? No, sadly you have to pay me £46.
davieG Posted 12 June 2008 Author Posted 12 June 2008 Are people welcome to watch free of charge? I would think so - you could also be a referee for free if you want
AoWW Posted 12 June 2008 Posted 12 June 2008 Are people welcome to watch free of charge? No, unfortunately not. You have to pay me £20 on arrival to go towards team expenses. Edit: Well i'm cheaper than Lil'Dave.
