i seem to remember a kid falling off a school gate ( while he was breaking in ) and claiming compensation ;

he got a lot more sympathy from FT posters  ( some of the same ones who are against compensation now i think)

Really? lol

What a joke that is, and burglar's claiming compensation when they get injured in someones house whilst robbing themm, scum of the highest order. Well quite high anyway :P

i think you maybe be right

:P

I think it just comes down to personal choice (like most things).

Personally, I have neither the time nor inclination to mess around trying to claim. Bearing in mind, the average claim for whiplash is about £1000.

Oh, and there is no such thing as No Win No fee

I was off work for one day. I had a headache the next day, but the problem with our society is that everbody thinks that they have an entitlement to something. Everybody feels that society owes him/her something.

You talk of form filling, and going to court. The time spent doing this will surely result in further financial loss.

The lady who crashed into him obviously didn't mean to, she probably feels upset and guilty. I'm sure she is not suing ITV for having programmes on late at night, meaning loss of sleep, meaning reduced concentration, resulting in this accident

Accidents happen, deal with it.

So with a dislocated shoulder and a broken nose, you only had one day off work?

Are you Tommy G or something? Or maybe The Incredible Hulk?

How VERY dare you! :@

In all seriousness, have you ever broken your nose? It really only hurts for a couple of hours or so...

Shoulder was agony, but you can either sit at home moping about, or atleast try and do something.

Besides, a cocktail of

non

perscription drugs got me through...

Thats why.

£500 for filling in some forms and going to court.

It's £500 you'd end up paying back to the insurers eventually.

In all fairness I dunno about the broken nose but I have dislocated my shoulder/s(!) on a number of occasions. Assuming it gets shoved back in quickly enough the pain isn't usually that bad (apart from the moment they pop it back in!!! >_< ) - I've never had time off work because of it though.

I remember being stuck in traffic once and some nob just come out of no where and smacked into the back of our car....The insurance company called us and said about the no win no fee thingy (Mrs was in a badish way with her neck to be fair)

We ended up with a courtesy car for 8 months (my car was still on the drive awaiting to be fixed) and 6 grand between us!

I didn't have to lift up the phone to make a call it was all done by them ringing us!

That's cos your insurer's solicitors ended up making 8 grand

I work in insurance claims.

£500 is a little short for a whiplash claim where someone has gone to the doctors with their injury and had some time off work. To squeeze a bit more money out of the claim, injury lawyers usually say that the problems caused by an accident lasted a while, that the injured party was unable to carry out their hobby, that they've got some form of psychological problem (nightmares/anxiety about travelling) and so on.

The amount for "pain, suffering and loss of amenity" would probably be £750 to £1000, and that's before you get to paying for any financial losses, the damage to the car, etc..

Many insurance companies use a computer system to come up with the compo amount.

The system stinks and lawyers get rich, it's a racket.
