Jonezy Posted 10 June 2008 Posted 10 June 2008 How did Greece score enough goals to qualify for the tournament? A bit of world class won the game, well done Zlatan and Sweden! I predicted boredom and I wasn't far off.
shen Posted 10 June 2008 Posted 10 June 2008 How did Greece score enough goals to qualify for the tournament? A bit of world class won the game, well done Zlatan and Sweden! I predicted boredom and I wasn't far off. Not only did they qualify, they put together a historic run of 9 or 10 wins (games unbeaten?) in a row up to the tournament. Amazed this didn't finish 0-0... Zlatan finally did something for Sweden then..
dandannieldanok Posted 10 June 2008 Posted 10 June 2008 Thankfully I missed this match, reading the BBC live text it appears that Greece took the piss with their anti-football. Hopefully Spain demolish them.
Darkzzz_ Posted 11 June 2008 Posted 11 June 2008 Greece really P****d me off last night and justice was done in the end!! The way they play the game is awfull in my opinion. Passing between the defenders is very disrespectfull and shows how much they really did grind there way through Euro 2004, ok, I didn't mind them winning it but i just do not agree with the way they play, i heard someone mention how they can only play this way!! That's fair enough, a few teams play with a defensive manner, but not like this, this was just horrible to watch... reminded me of the Zaire national team when they used to just pass it between themselves at the back, you know the one this team (this clip is very funny when brazil lined up to take the free kick): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M78hwaAXZ54 I just think it shows a lack of tactical knowledge by the manager, he has had four years to adapt a new style, its just the same old greeks, sit back grind teams down and try and nick a goal!! Ok he is not going to mind what we say, as long as he wins it, but i am so glad justice was done, even some greek fans were booing!! This is just my opinion, i hate teams that approach the game this way!
Ric Flair Posted 11 June 2008 Posted 11 June 2008 Beglin was going wild about the Greeks passing amongst their back four last night, it was brilliant. Nice finish from Zlatan, I get a feeling there's a few more of those to come from him if Sweden can get their momentum going. Elmander should be starting as well though.

Ric Flair Posted 11 June 2008 Posted 11 June 2008 I can see them stuggling to Russia and they will certainly stuggle against the Spanish. They're certainly a shadow of their former selves, but then again they are one of those teams who always seem to get to the quarter finals of tournaments. However, the midfield is a massive worry for me, Alexanderrson must be nearly 40 isn't he? Russia were poor against the Spanish and although I like the look of them in qualifying, I think Hiddink has a job on his hands to get them firing. Is Arveshin back for the Sweden game? If so, then I think Sweden will struggle.

But midfield IS a worry: Linderoth, Ljungberg, Anders Svensson and Daniel Andersson are all in their 30's...
