I said that we need to get used to signings like this, ie Darren Moore and Chris Lucketti as we wont get the top youngsters signing for us, they will join the big boys like Mattock will this week. We have good youngsters at the club and they just need some experience but still hungry experienced players to help them. So, now tell me what the hell you are on about???..... I am afraid we will only be able to get older players like Moore and Lucketti, any youngish players will come from lower leagues and wont be kids! That was my point!

Referring to DavieG's topic on Strategy, if we have any ambitions left to aim for the Premier League we've firstly got to get rid of the revolving door which means not signings players like this. The likes of Nelson who we've been linked with are the type of targets that could slot in and begin to develop a new core of our team over a period of years. Anyway, Lucketti and Moore are poor defenders regardless of their age. Southampton may have stayed up, but their defence was notoriously poor and I hardly need to say how Moore fared last season.

Id love us to build our team around youngsters and with the good young lads we have at the club we can to a certain extent, but my point is you will also need a few old heads for this season to help those kids!

Agreed, but lets use players like Moore or Lucketti to get us out of div 1 and then build a team. Personally I'd sign one or the other, not both. We,ve already got Bruno but when players are 35 or 36yrs old you will probably only get half a season out of them.
