Bert Posted 2 August 2008 Posted 2 August 2008 Hendo 7 - Looked assured and confident, made some good saves when he had to, no chance with the goal. Gilbert 7 - Linked well with Max, always up his mans arse (not literally) Mattock 6 - Got done for their goal, i wonder if he's found his pants yet, apart from that looked very good. Tunchev 7 - For the first 15 minutes after he'd gone we fell to bits, that's saying something considering his lack of communication. Growing in confidence. Morrison 7 - A lot better than the past few outings, could see he was talking lots. Gradel 9 - Tore Palace to bits, absolutely different class. Dyer 6 - Overshadowed by Gradel, still played ok when he got his chance though. King 7.5 - Very good, sat deep won balls and set Oakley free and it paid dividends. Oakley 7.5 - A bit slack for patches in the first half, but otherwise, rather good. Got in the box a fair bit, scored and sprayed some good balls around in the second half. Howard 6.5 - won alot of balls today, just a shame he's quite immobile. Fryatt 7 - He looks so much quicker and a lot sharper, worked hard. Dj 7 - Looked lively, seemed to link well with Max, unlucky not to score. Porter 7 -Very positive, neat balls, direct made some good runs. Adams 7 - Continued to give their left back a torrid time, not as much as Gradel but still did well. Kish 7 - Brilliant, tenacious and works very hard. Hobbs 6.5 - Didn't see that much, but looked solid. Weso 6 - Could've scored, didn't have long enough to get into the game. O'Neill - No rating because he wasn't on long enough, but he seemed to fit in like he'd been there for years.
Simi Posted 3 August 2008 Posted 3 August 2008 Hendo - 7 Gilbert - 6 Morrison - 6 Tunchev - 7 Mattock - 6.5 Gradel - 9 Oakley - 7.5 King - 7.5 Dyer - 7 Howard - 7 Fryatt - 7.5 Dj - 7 Porter - 6.5 Adams - 6.5 Kish - 7 Hobbs - 6.5 Weso - 6 O'Neill - N/A
thybluefox Posted 3 August 2008 Posted 3 August 2008 I fooking loves Gradel. Season starts in less than a mother fooking week!!!
Houdini Logic Posted 3 August 2008 Posted 3 August 2008 Is Fryatt actually playing well these days then? First choice striker these days!
Jimmy Posted 3 August 2008 Posted 3 August 2008 Weso 6 - Could've scored, didn't have long enough to get into the game. O'Neill - No rating because he wasn't on long enough, but he seemed to fit in like he'd been there for years. O'Neill got longer then Weso so how does he get a rating? Hendo 6 - 1 lost for some appalling kicking Gilbert 7 - Constantly looked to get forward and was never outclassed by their winger Morrison 6 - Organised well the 1st half seemed to struggle a little more after Tunchev went off Tunchev 6 - Solid enough, won virtually every header Mattock 6 - got forward fairly well but seemed reluctant to go past either Dyer or Porter Gradel 8 - MOTM great control and pace tracked back and did more then his fair share defensively as well, still needs to work on his end product as it was still a little hit and miss King 6 - solid performance as the holding player but still managed to get forward when interchanging with Oakley and generally kept things simple Oakley 7 - played well some good passing moves sparked by him and got forward at every opportunity and got a goal as a result Dyer 6 - fairly quiet and totally out shined by Gradel but when he did get the ball he was simple and effective Howard 6 - better then he was last season, control was better and won a few headers Fryatt 6 - some good control and interplay with Gradel before getting his foot stamped on and was never the same for the rest of the half Campbell 6 - please start your runs 2 yards deeper and you will be onside most of the time Hobbs 6 - did well Porter 6- a couple of decent crosses and some good through balls Kishishev 7 - slotted straight into King's role with no fuss Adams 6 - couple of good runs but he didn't even get a cross in Hayles 6 - this will almost certainly be his last season above league 2 O'Neill 6 - never really troubled looked ok in his 5 mins at RB Wesolowski 6 - did he even get a touch after replacing Oakley?
Stuliasz Posted 3 August 2008 Posted 3 August 2008 Hendo 7 - A few dodgy kicks but had to stay alert for a few decent Palace efforts. Handling was ok too. Gilbert 7 - Linked well with Gradel, looked to get forward when he could. Morrison 7 - Started poorly I thought but grew into it as the game went on. He really struggled in the air against Scowcroft first half who won about every header that came his way (Howard take note). Tunchev 7 - Looked comfortable in the air and did the sensible things. Mattock 6.5 - Really needs to work on the diagonal ball over the top. Gradel 8.5 - Fantastic first half, terrorised their defence time and time again with his skill and trickery. Faded a little second half but a constant menace. King 7 - Was quietly impressive, didn't get forward as much as I'd have liked but did his job efficiently. Oakley 7 - Would be 6.5 if it wasn't for his goal. First half seemed very slow on the ball and lost possession a few times but he was better than his average performance from last season. Dyer 7 - Thought he had a very decent game, a few good runs as the wingers seemed to cut open Palace's weak defence time and time again Howard 6 - Poor I thought. First pre-season friendly game I have been to and he won about one header in the entire game. He was ok when the ball came to him a bit lower but considering his strength, he should win more headers. Fryatt 6.5 - A couple of good runs but I was a little disappointed considering what a good pre-season he's apparently had. Similar kind of performance to his games last season. One good curling effort really tested Speroni though. Campbell 5.5 - Not impressed Hobbs 6.5 - Did his job effectively Porter 6.5 - A few decent runs and passed the ball well Kishishev 7 - Worked very hard and will be an able backup. Adams 6 - Made one or two decent runs but nothing spectacular. Hayles 5.5 - Made no impact as Palace pushed on. O'Neill - Not on long enough. Wesolowski - Should have done better with his effort at the end. All in all I was very pleased. When Gradel was on, I haven't seen us look that threatening in the final third for some time. We were using the wings to great effect, splitting Palace open time and time again but just couldn't apply the final ball across goal well enough at times usually due to some good last ditch Palace defending.
Moreton Posted 3 August 2008 Posted 3 August 2008 Gradel - 9 Gradel 9 - Tore Palace to bits, absolutely different class. I'ts like the first time in ages that i've seen people rate a Leicester City players performance at a 9 or 10.

I wouldnt have him as back up, based on his pre season i'd have him starting first game of the season. He's more than deserved it imo.
Fez of Mahrez Posted 3 August 2008 Posted 3 August 2008 I would say pretty much 7s all round for the starting XI although Mattock struggled with Scannell when he came on and yes, Gradel was a different class. We have started trying to play these little defence-splitting through balls into the channels which I have not seen from us for many, many years. Maybe it's just pre-season but we now have players who are always looking to play those kind of balls and we also have the willing runners in wide positions who will make diagonal runs in behind the opposition defence to offer the option. It's great to watch and I just pray it carries on into the season.

Even the defence were passing the ball and there were some fantastic moves being created. What a difference it makes to have pace down the wings rather than...ahem...Barry Hayles.
Southern Fox Posted 3 August 2008 Posted 3 August 2008 Hendo 6 - Decent display but doesnt command his box enough for me Gilbert 6 - Dependable and good strength but also at times looks rash and careless. linked up well with Gradel Mattock 6 - Was at fault for goal but put in a good display Tunchev 7 - Thought he looked decent. No nosnense sort. Put out for throw in if need be kind of player Morrison 7 - Surprised me. Was impressed. Looks like he cud give us the odd cock up from time to time though Gradel 9 - Man of the match. Worth the entrance fee alone. Cant remember the last time I saw such a good performance Dyer 6 - Offers us pace which lacked last season. Improvement needed in final ball King 7 - Linked well with Oakley and showed some quality and the hearth for a battle. Confidence grown from last season Oakley 8 - Shame he didnt show last season the kind of performance he put in yesterday. A captains performance. Good passing and in the game a lot Howard 6 - Held the ball up well but lacks movement. Played okay but would take money for him and run Fryatt 7 - Lean and improved on last season. Has picked up a bit of pace. Actually linked up well with Howard Dj 7 - Decent 2nd half appearance. Good chance blocked on line Porter 6 - Levi will prove a good squad player. Looked busy and some nice touches Adams 7 - Tricky little lad with some nice touches and the ability to run at people. Kish 7 - Did all the nice simple things that generally get ignored Hobbs 6 - Got better as the game got on but not as strong in the air as his height would demand Weso 6 - Not long enough- - put chance over bar O'Neill 6 - Not long enough

thybluefox Posted 3 August 2008 Posted 3 August 2008 Lackzo Zsolt. , this is pretty much constant high ratings from the last few games, not a one off. TBH I've got well excited now after readin these ratings.
The People's Hero Posted 3 August 2008 Posted 3 August 2008 Gradel was the stand out man. Thought Morrison looked fairly poor, often getting the wrong side and perhaps not 'reading' the play quite quickly enough. Did a lot of shouting when playing alongside Tunchev. Wonder if this is our best pairing. I personally wasn't convinced by Adams - who gave th ball away quite a lot and aside from some clever touches looked like he lacked purpose. That said, it was a pre-season game. I was encouraged by both Howard and Fryatt. Difficult to see from that particular performance how Howard can be accused of laziness recently. In central midfield, I thought both King and Oakley were busy, mobile and competent. Encouraging.
