Darkzzz_ Posted 19 August 2008 Posted 19 August 2008 My mate has just signed on for Nuneaton Town (Boro) He is getting £300 over there. The most I have ever been payed was £10 per game, in the UCL Division 1 for Burton Park Wanderers. My biggest achievement was playing against Ruel Fox when he was playing for ON Chennecks. I did take him out!! If only some Cnut didn't break my leg. That league is a decent standard to be fair, only 4 behind the Conference.
Ric Flair Posted 19 August 2008 Posted 19 August 2008 I have a friend who plays in Blue Square Premier who recieves over £500 a week.I think he's on a bit more than that Yeah, but youth players on their first pro contract tend not to be paid much more than £500-1000 unless they are either quite special or they are at a Premier League club.
The Reverend Posted 19 August 2008 Posted 19 August 2008 Because he looked solid in pre-season and we will make a good player.Pretty simple really What so giving a youth player 2k a week because he looked good in pre-season (did he?) is simple is it? Only a 'tard would give a youth player who has never done anything whatsoever for the first team 2k a week. Fact.
Thracian Posted 19 August 2008 Posted 19 August 2008 What so giving a youth player 2k a week because he looked good in pre-season (did he?) is simple is it? Only a 'tard would give a youth player who has never done anything whatsoever for the first team 2k a week. Fact. That depends on a whole heap of things. If Pearson sees the lad as a member or near member of the first team squad then perhaps he would want him paid respectably not just as a reward for his own progress but as an incentive for others. There might also be a posse of other clubs interested. I'm not for one moment saying any of the above is the case although Pearson does seem to think highly of him. But there might well be reasons for a manager to back his judgement and why not? From what I've seen of O'Neill I'd sooner our manager back someone who does seem to have ability rather than some of the no-hopers who were here this time last season and who were getting much more money than him. At least he's played some good games at one level or another which is more than can be said for those I'm thinking of. And I haven't even started to mention the managers. What was it Hollowords was paid off with and how much did it cost us for every single shameful week he was here?
Father Ted Posted 19 August 2008 Posted 19 August 2008 What's been happening with Billy Kee recently? Anyone know?
Unabomber Posted 19 August 2008 Posted 19 August 2008 What's been happening with Billy Kee recently? Anyone know? Saw him in Subway in Loughborough last week. So all I know at the minute is that he enjoys his footlongs.
Thracian Posted 19 August 2008 Posted 19 August 2008 Saw him in Subway in Loughborough last week. So all I know at the minute is that he enjoys his footlongs. He's back in training.
clazkel Posted 19 August 2008 Posted 19 August 2008 He didn't impress me a quorn. To give a 17 year old 2k a week for being solid is stupid. I don't understand why you say he didn't impress you at Quorn. I had never heard of him before and he really did stand out along with Sappleton and Porter. Maybe wouldn't make it in league 1 yet but he is a great prospect, especially if he is only 16/17, i didn't realise he was that young! As for the money, you could say why give a 20 yr old £20,000 a week or a 25 yr old £30,000 a week, or any footballer £100,000 a week its all abit over the top.

Uncle Albert Posted 19 August 2008 Posted 19 August 2008 I wouldnt give him the steam of my own piss let alone £2,000 a week.
Tevez Posted 19 August 2008 Posted 19 August 2008 I wouldnt give him the steam of my own piss let alone £2,000 a week. Especially judging him playing a "pub team" as Tommy G would refer Quorn to. And 5 mins vs Cryzzle Palace does not deem worthy of 2,000 boys a week.

It's Quron for feck sake. If he doesnt stand out against them then he shouldnt be in our youth academy! £2,000 a week is not a lot of money in footballing terms.Get in to the real world Are you for real?! 2 grand a week is not a lot in footballing terms no, BUT when the lad has done nothing, hes 16 years old, and hes playing for the academy of a LEAGUE 1 TEAM, thats sort of when it becomes a bit of a joke. Fair play to the lad, i mean i cant fault him and i wish him well, but i want to know what moron is in charge of contracts handing out that sort of money to a youth teamer. If he's on that, i dread to think what people like Clemence, Oakley, Kisnorbo and Howard are on. Its a disgrace.
Uncle Albert Posted 19 August 2008 Posted 19 August 2008 Why do people seem to believe he is on £2,000 a week. He is probably bullshitting to impress people.
clazkel Posted 19 August 2008 Posted 19 August 2008 It's Quron for feck sake. If he doesnt stand out against them then he shouldnt be in our youth academy! But there were only 3 players who stood out against Quorn, so does that mean the others shouldn't be playing for us. I think he is a great prospect, granted i have only seen him play once and it was against Quorn but you need to encourage players who look good to stay with the club and if that means paying them £2,000 a week then so be it
Uncle Albert Posted 19 August 2008 Posted 19 August 2008 £2,000 a week makes me want to vomit. Makes me want to cry. How some 16 year old could be paid that sort of money is cringe worthy. Overated anyway.
Samilktray Posted 19 August 2008 Posted 19 August 2008 Slightly off topic but it doesnt warrant a new thread. Heard Mr Mattock got given two black eyes up town on saturday night, poor chap.

Tevez Posted 19 August 2008 Posted 19 August 2008 Apperently Luke O Neill and Joe Mattock are going on loan to Coventry Sphinx and Gainsborough Trinity. Respectivley.

And Mattocks injured isnt he, why is'nt O'Neill playing, or at least on the bench if hes worthy of 2k a week?
