mmarkie Posted 18 August 2008 Posted 18 August 2008 What does everyone think the team for Tranmere will be? I think: GK:Henderson RB:Gilbert CB:Morrison CB:Hobbs LB:Tunchev RM:Gradel CM:Oakley© CM:King LM:Dyer ST:Howard ST:Dickov SUBS Martin Kishishev Adams Campbell Fryatt I think only one change and that is Dickov in for Fryatt as Fryatt wastes too many chances and Dickov would have probably scored all of the chances that Fryatt had on Saturday and Dickov reads Howard's flick-ons. Your Thoughts?

C-man Posted 18 August 2008 Posted 18 August 2008 I'd keep with the same team. The defence has kept 3 clean sheets in a row. The midfield doesn't really need changing unless you were going to replace Oakley, but that won't happen because he's skipper! The Fryatt and Howard partnership is starting to produce chances. Despite Fryatt missing one or two chances on Saturday, his intelligent running into space created several attacking opportunities. I'd keep him ahead of Dickov for now.
mmarkie Posted 18 August 2008 Author Posted 18 August 2008 Would you have scored all the chances? HMMMM. NO.
Tabou Posted 18 August 2008 Posted 18 August 2008 Would you have scored all the chances?HMMMM. NO. Well, given that I am in the mood for a healthy debate, Yes. Yes I would have scored them all. And more. Why do you believe Dickov would score them all ???
mmarkie Posted 18 August 2008 Author Posted 18 August 2008 Well, given that I am in the mood for a healthy debate, Yes. Yes I would have scored them all. And more. Why do you believe Dickov would score them all ??? Because he's a good finisher and Fryatt couldn't really miss from 6-yards.So Dickov would have scored from 6-yards
Tilley Posted 18 August 2008 Posted 18 August 2008 Because he's a good finisher and Fryatt couldn't really miss from 6-yards.So Dickov would have scored from 6-yards Ha. Ok, Fryatt took one touch too many, but with his back to goal, I think he did well to get a shot away. Him & Howard are starting to get an understanding of each other. I'd stick with the same team as Saturday personally.
Tabou Posted 18 August 2008 Posted 18 August 2008 Because he's a good finisher and Fryatt couldn't really miss from 6-yards.So Dickov would have scored from 6-yards Interesting. But I think that Fryatt has looked pretty sharp so far this season. Agreed, finishing is at the moment a problem for our forwards (hopefully a teething one) but by all accounts, he is beginning to forge something of a partnership with Howard. I think they should be left to it at least for a couple more games. I think, that at this stage of his career, Dickov will be best finishing teh last 30 odd minutes of a game, getting at a tiring defence. Remember we have played 2 league games so far this season. To haul him out of the team now would be nothing short of Idiotic. He should be given the chance to impress NP as he did against Franchise.
mmarkie Posted 18 August 2008 Author Posted 18 August 2008 Actually ive thought about it and i agree with you!
wirralsimon Posted 18 August 2008 Posted 18 August 2008 I saw Tranmere play Hartlepool at the weekend (the ground is 5 mins walk from my house). This game will be the sort of game that we must win if we are to have any chance of promotion. Tranmere have apparently been abysmal in their two away games so far. They did a lot better on Saturday as Ian Goodison was back to Marshall the defence (It tends to fall apart when he isn't there) but the defence looks like it will be shaky under pressure. Their dangerman is a young centre forward called Craig Curran who is a bit if a livewire, the Leicester/Tranmere game will be on his 19th Birthday. He scored one and had another disallowed on Saturday. Well worth a look to see if he would be worth buying in the January sales! Simon

Joe. Posted 18 August 2008 Posted 18 August 2008 Stick with the same team, no need for any changes yet.

AndyBrew Posted 18 August 2008 Posted 18 August 2008 same team, give Fryatt a chance, he's looked good in pre-season and had a good game against MK removing him now will crush his confidence and lets face it we don't have a real alternative anyway, as already said Dickov will be most effective coming on for the last 20 - 30 minutes. Come on Fryatt start banging 'em in for fun
Sooper Steve's shin Posted 18 August 2008 Posted 18 August 2008 Stick with it. No reason to change (possibly unless we buy a specialist left-back this week). It's the start of the season, the first team needs as much time together as possible to gel and improve. Consistency counts for a lot and I think much of what we've had to put up with over recent years has been caused by too much chopping and changing (both managers and players). I reckon it would be counter-productive to drop anyone at this stage.
Ric Flair Posted 18 August 2008 Posted 18 August 2008 Henderson Gilbert Hobbs Tunchev (A new signing) Gradel Oakley Adams Dyer Howard Fryatt Subs: Dickov, Morrison, Martin, Wesolowski, Porter
