So it's not a council house at all and you're talking bollocks? I'm stunned.

Report it to the landlord and police or pipe down.

I'm not sure that prostitution in itself is a crime . It's only soliciting as far as i'm aware, so I don't think the police can actually act on it.

The landlord almost certainly can. If it's not a breach of tenancy I'll be amazed.

I'm really not too sure , and I know of a few "ladies" who "work from home" , and i'd hazard a guess the landlord would have some inkling about it too.

As I said , I don't think it's illegal ( or immoral for that matter)

I never said it was a council house.  All I know is an aquaintance of mine who works helping vulnerable people had this girl come to her and say that the place that was found for her was being used as a brothel. The council has a list of recommended private accommodations which they use  to relocate people requiring housing. That person is then advised to take the place or lose the chance of a quick settlement. This happens all over the country and also to mothers with young children who are asked to move to places where there are violent, drunk or drugged up tenants.

I'm about 99% sure it's covered in my rent agreement. I doubt my contract is much different from anyone else's.

Not that my landlord would have a clue. At all. It's not like he's bugged the property, he has to give notice before getting access and I'm hardly going to let him in if I'm mid-tricking or pimping am I? If nobody blows the whistle, how's the landlord going to find out?

I think in this case the landlord was the madam. Which considering the place was on the council's recommendation list  for relocation does not look good for them.

But as I said the story is being investigated and the place should be removed from their fave list. If not watch this place. Can't name names for obvious reasons. Just wanted to know other peoples thoughts.

I also wondering how widespread is inappropriate relocation in the UK by councils.

I think the landlord i'm referring to is getting freebies  :D

I think brothels are illegal though the police tend to turn a blind eye in a lot of cases Are you saying that the housing officer is telling this girl to share a house with these prostitutes?

The housing officer definitely isn't. It won't even be a "housing officer."

I dont know the title of the department involved. What would you call someone from the council housing department?

Do you ever consider that maybe the people who tell you these things are lying?maybe to get sympathy or so that they dont have to move somewhere they don't want. Or possibly the activists you associate with are spinning propaganda?

Ken is having an absolute mare in here.

I'd advise him to use kentribution 3 "standing up for the little guy" followed by kentribution 5 "threatening to stop posting" followed by kentribution 2 "irrelevant rant".

Well that depends what they do doesn't it? Do you have any idea how big housing services is or how much it does? A housing officer is basically like a landlord for council houses.

You'll either be talking about hostels staff or someone from benefits, if her benefit was under threat. Sod all to do with a conventional housing officer.

Either way, they're not absolute cvnts. You're the one apparently in the know, why aren't you reporting it?

You just can't tell who's lying and who's truthing these days can you? :D

No because they are genuine people that have experience of homelessness living in hostels etc. If you met them you would agree. They are also caring people that spend a lot of time working with vulnerable, mentally, ill disabled and elderly people. What reason would they have to lie about wanting to make lives better for these people?

Do you ever consider that things are not always as they seem and things are going on that people are unaware of? Do you not think that the best person to talk to about what it is like living in a hostel is someone that lives in a hostel and not an opinion on a message board or a bloke down the pub>

Finners works for the council and he says what you are claiming isn't possible, why would he lie?

It's a very possible scenario, its just Ken's understanding of it seems crap. The girl could well be exaggerating, paranoid, simply wrong or misled but she could also be spot on.

But calling the council wankers over it is silly. They aren't all knowing. Just... Report it.

Send the girl to a star worker, a housing office, the police, her landlord/estate agent, citizens advice, the housing association, whoever. There's plenty of professionals out there who can help.

It would be good if you could do a little bit of fact finding before making a point.

I posted the facts as I knew them. I will know more in a few days. As I said it is being investigated by other people. The ones responsible whoever they are will be contacted and informed of the situation. I only wanted opinions as it stood. Is it right to place a 17 year old girl in a brother?

OK wrong thread. She is seeing someone and hopefully iwill be sorted out. My point was things are not as rosy as some make out. There are lots of things going on people are unaware of. Didn't want to start a new thread and I thought this thread was the closest to 'a little naughty'
