Bryn Posted 26 August 2008 Posted 26 August 2008 http://www.lcfc.premiumtv.co.uk/page/Lates...1375256,00.html Leicester City's League One fixture against Colchester United at the new Weston Homes Community Stadium scheduled for Saturday, September 6 has been postponed. The Football League has agreed to the postponement due to the fact that the Foxes have three players - Andy King, Nicky Adams (Wales Under-21s) and Aleksandar Tunchev (Bulgaria) - selected for international duty that weekend. A rearranged date for the fixture will be confirmed in due course whilst tickets already purchased for this match will remain valid for the rescheduled encounter.

Asha Posted 26 August 2008 Posted 26 August 2008 That's wank. It will most likely be arranged on a Monday night or something, therefore meaning I can't go.
Joe. Posted 26 August 2008 Posted 26 August 2008 Fair enough to be honest, however inconvenient it might be for the fans.
Guest Posted 26 August 2008 Posted 26 August 2008 Bloody hell! I'd booked the day off work for this one, bet it gets arranged for a day I can't make now
JoeyB Posted 26 August 2008 Posted 26 August 2008 Thats Bullshite, only 2 of them players would be near our starting 11 anyway, and we have cover
Guest Posted 26 August 2008 Posted 26 August 2008 I'm sorry, but that is garbage. If teams buy international players, then it's tough, regardless of the division, in my opinion. All these postponements just take the piss, especially when Colchester is a bit of a trek for many fans.
GLC Posted 26 August 2008 Posted 26 August 2008 Thats Bullshite, only 2 of them players would be near our starting 11 anyway, and we have cover andy king and tunchev both play for the starting 11 not happy bout it, but atleat we have tunchev for that game
Thracian Posted 26 August 2008 Posted 26 August 2008 Bit surprised. I'm sure we could have coped and, psychologically I don't think it's a good idea to fall behind the pack. Presumably, with a smallish squad, there's concern about any injuries that might arise by that time and don't want to leave ourselves shorthanded. But does that really justify the inconvenience to everyone? People buy their season tickets partly on the basis of knowing they can get to the games. Even changing the time of games is an irritation but changing the date causes all sorts of problems. Makes a mockery of our old slogan about being "in it together". Doesn't seem that the club have considered the fans as being "in it" at all. They've just done what they want.
Joe. Posted 26 August 2008 Posted 26 August 2008 I can understand the moaning, that it's inconvenient etc, but we want to win games don't we? This sort of thing happens to every team in England, matches get rearranged for internationals. Admittedly the Premiership and Championship as a whole get weekends off for it but we as a team should receive no different treatment for it surely? The three players that we would be without could all potentially be key, they're all involved in the first team squad, so as far as I'm concerned it's fair enough.
Alexikokopops Posted 26 August 2008 Posted 26 August 2008 Hahaha, postponed because of international call-ups? Unbelievable.
Uncle Albert Posted 26 August 2008 Posted 26 August 2008 Good, means I can watch abit of Park Football Town or Saints?
Lillehamring Posted 26 August 2008 Posted 26 August 2008 Hahaha, postponed because of international call-ups? Unbelievable. clearly, we're still a massive club but, if we played with that squad, and lost, everyone would be pissed, saying we shouldn't have had to play it osv. who knows what the effect of having to change the squad around might do to performance and confidence. ..i'm sypathetic to those inconvenienced, but equally, bollox - the team is the thing, if they are happy with it, then, that's all that matters, it's not like it's been changed just for sky or the old bill... on a more positive note, i'm going to sweden that weekend, so i wouldn't have caught it anyway!
Simi Posted 26 August 2008 Posted 26 August 2008 Doubt I'll go to this either way. Ticket prices are quite stupid and I don't agree with what Colchester have done to their fans.
lavrentis Posted 26 August 2008 Posted 26 August 2008 I don't actually mind this, if you think about it a game in hand might be vital for us.
Joe. Posted 26 August 2008 Posted 26 August 2008 Doubt I'll go to this either way. Ticket prices are quite stupid and I don't agree with what Colchester have done to their fans. They are?
Simi Posted 26 August 2008 Posted 26 August 2008 They are? It'll probably be the highest we see this season. Plus the way they've treated home fans is disgusting.
Ric Flair Posted 26 August 2008 Posted 26 August 2008 Do not ever underestimate the power and authority of The Tunchev.
Alexikokopops Posted 26 August 2008 Posted 26 August 2008 It'll probably be the highest we see this season. Plus the way they've treated home fans is disgusting. Do tell.
Joe. Posted 26 August 2008 Posted 26 August 2008 It'll probably be the highest we see this season. Plus the way they've treated home fans is disgusting. Aye, I agree with the shocking treatment of their own fans, those season tickets were outrageously priced. I don't think the match prices for this game are too over the top though, they're not too different to those at our place...
Simi Posted 26 August 2008 Posted 26 August 2008 Do tell. Average of £500 a season ticket in all areas of the ground, they've less season ticket holders than last season I think and the attendance on the opening day was lower than what they got at Layer Road. For League 1 football that's outrageous and just shows how desperate a club can be to make their losses up quikly on a sew stadium/

Cheese Me Posted 26 August 2008 Posted 26 August 2008 Surely this is a good thing. Better than playing without key players, gives everyone else a bit of a rest early on and us a game in hand for some point in the future. Plus it's a reflection that we've got a talented squad who are knocking on the door of international honours. Don't understand the moaning tbh
