Alexikokopops Posted 26 August 2008 Posted 26 August 2008 Surely this is a good thing.Better than playing without key players, gives everyone else a bit of a rest early on and us a game in hand for some point in the future. Plus it's a reflection that we've got a talented squad who are knocking on the door of international honours. Don't understand the moaning tbh Maybe it's because people who have tickets and fancied a trip to Colchester's new stadium won't be able to make it on a Tuesday night (or whenever the game is rescheduled)?
Babylon Posted 26 August 2008 Posted 26 August 2008 Don't understand the moaning tbh I understand the moaning, but 3 points come before a few fans not being able to make it. With those 3 players are chances of winning should be higher. If we draw or lose the game and we miss out on automatic promotion by one point, would those complaining still be happy because they got to go to Colchester?
JoeyB Posted 26 August 2008 Posted 26 August 2008 aint we got 4 away games in a row too? Fulham, Cheltenham, Colchester, Hartlepool?? not 100% sure , but 4 away games in a row is a lot
Stevosevic Posted 26 August 2008 Posted 26 August 2008 aint we got 4 away games in a row too?Fulham, Cheltenham, Colchester, Hartlepool?? not 100% sure , but 4 away games in a row is a lot That's the positive i see from this cancellation. 4 games away is alot, and Colchester are a good side, i would rather play them with a full strength side after a comfortable home win. Lose tomorrow, at Cheltenham and Hartlepool, this game could be a different story.
Tilley Posted 26 August 2008 Posted 26 August 2008 Makes no differene to me. Hope we just don't look our momentum if we win against Cheltenham.
C-man Posted 26 August 2008 Posted 26 August 2008 I understand some of our fans' frustration but It's actually worked out better for me! I would have missed it because I'm on holiday but now I can go
bigneville Posted 26 August 2008 Posted 26 August 2008 Good move. Its in the best interest of the club, if we can pick from a full squad for as many games as possible.
Guest Posted 26 August 2008 Posted 26 August 2008 I can understand the moaning, that it's inconvenient etc, but we want to win games don't we? This sort of thing happens to every team in England, matches get rearranged for internationals. Admittedly the Premiership and Championship as a whole get weekends off for it but we as a team should receive no different treatment for it surely? The three players that we would be without could all potentially be key, they're all involved in the first team squad, so as far as I'm concerned it's fair enough. Surely this is a good thing.Better than playing without key players, gives everyone else a bit of a rest early on and us a game in hand for some point in the future. And if we are missing these players through injury, illness or suspension, would be calling for the game to be postponed too?
Bert Posted 26 August 2008 Posted 26 August 2008 And if we are missing these players through injury, illness or suspension, would be calling for the game to be postponed too? No, but we can actually call for this to be postponed, whereas the scenario you've put forward, (only except in extreme circumstances) we can't.
Guest Posted 26 August 2008 Posted 26 August 2008 No, but we can actually call for this to be postponed, whereas the scenario you've put forward, (only except in extreme circumstances) we can't. I don't understand why, when people were looking forward to this season and the chance to bring on some of the younger players, we run away from the first opportunity. Surely we should be showing the rest of this division the confidence in the rest of the squad. This decision implies we are not.
Leicester Rule! Posted 26 August 2008 Posted 26 August 2008 Glad about this. A ground I wanted to visit and am in Barcelona for the Andorra match at the time, so happy that I get a chance to go to the ground.
syston_fox Posted 26 August 2008 Posted 26 August 2008 A little heads up from the ticket office about the possibility of this happening would have been nice when buying tickets yesterday!

It's not too bad for me, I can still get to a midweek match at Colchester. Just annoying more than anything.
The Stig Posted 26 August 2008 Posted 26 August 2008 I'd rather not go to the match and have more of a chance of winning. And if we both go out the Carling Cup or FA Cup early it could be a Saturday.
Nod.E Posted 26 August 2008 Posted 26 August 2008 Pleased about it... I wanted to go as I know someone down there. But as I was gonna get the train and i haven't been paid yet... It would've proved a little tight. Just so long as it isn't re-arranged for a week day.
Corky Posted 26 August 2008 Posted 26 August 2008 It's harsh on Col U though. I'm sure if it had been on the 6th we'd have sold out our allocation, but now it will (probably) be a midweek, I fear we won't.
AoWW Posted 26 August 2008 Posted 26 August 2008 Pissed off. This was going to be the day before my birthday. I was gonna get the chance to go to a game with a friend and get pissed for once.
iancognito Posted 27 August 2008 Posted 27 August 2008 Depends how quick its re-arranged, a quick exit in the FA Cup would leave a couple of new year Saturday's free, so don't give up hope just yet.
Asha Posted 27 August 2008 Posted 27 August 2008 Depends how quick its re-arranged, a quick exit in the FA Cup would leave a couple of new year Saturday's free, so don't give up hope just yet. No it doesn't. If we don't make it to the 3rd round we play Hartlepool away on that day, and when everyone else would play the 4th round i think we play Huddersfield at home in the league. League games are scheduled in for the later rounds of the cup, expecting few League One clubs to make it that far. Obviously making it that far would mean the Hartlepool game for example would be re-arranged aswell.
Simi Posted 27 August 2008 Posted 27 August 2008 Leicester City's rearranged League One clash against Colchester United at the Weston Homes Community Stadium will now take place on Tuesday, September 30 (7.45pm).The initial encounter was yesterday postponed due to the Foxes having three players on international duty that weekend. Tickets already purchased by supporters will remain valid for the rearranged fixture.
Asha Posted 27 August 2008 Posted 27 August 2008 Rules me out too, although I'll probably go Leyton Orient instead.
