Wooly Posted 31 August 2008 Posted 31 August 2008 Been doing well since he left here hasn't he? Three appearances he's made for Watford since January 2007! What a let down he was, remember how excited we were when we signed him..
Guest ttfn Posted 31 August 2008 Posted 31 August 2008 He's been injured. He was considered to be the key to Watford's season according to a fan in fourfourtwo!
dandannieldanok Posted 31 August 2008 Posted 31 August 2008 I'd still have him back here in a shot, by far the most gifted midfield player to don a city shirt since Izzet.

Well I've seen jugglers with equal ability but it didn't mean they could play professional football, a man who's completed wasted his god given talent by his laid back, I've made it approach to football.
Flynny Posted 31 August 2008 Posted 31 August 2008 I always thought he was good :) More fool you, he was like Clem in his worst spells last season, only lazier.
Guest Posted 31 August 2008 Posted 31 August 2008 I always thought he was good :) Behave. He was good on occasion, when he wanted to be, but far and away the laziest player I think I've ever seen
Corky Posted 31 August 2008 Posted 31 August 2008 He had such natural talent but never produced it on a consistent basis. A shame really.
Stevosevic Posted 31 August 2008 Posted 31 August 2008 Technically he was very good, just didn't get around the park enough, well he did but he strolled.
James. Posted 31 August 2008 Posted 31 August 2008 I'd still have him back here in a shot I'd have him back here to be shot. Lazy f**ker, we're better off without him.
The Reverend Posted 31 August 2008 Posted 31 August 2008 I'd still have him back here in a shot, by far the most gifted midfield player to don a city shirt since Izzet. , are you serious? Oakley, who is probably the closest type of player we have to Williams, is far more technically gifted than Williams was or ever will be, thats why he's spent most of his career in the Premiership, and why Williams has spent most of his playing for shit sides in the Championship. Just because he was a reasonable good looking chap, and he strolled around the pitch, it doesnt mean he's technically gifted.
Thracian Posted 31 August 2008 Posted 31 August 2008 I'd still have him back here in a shot, by far the most gifted midfield player to don a city shirt since Izzet. I sincerely hope you're joking. The biggest gift he ever had was his wages from us. He was to our team as brewer's droop is to fulfilling sex, a constant anti-climax.
DB11 Posted 31 August 2008 Posted 31 August 2008 More fool you, he was like Clem in his worst spells last season, only lazier. I thought Clem was good last season. Better than Oakley is doing atm.
Flynny Posted 31 August 2008 Posted 31 August 2008 I thought Clem was good last season. Better than Oakley is doing atm. I think Clemence could be good for us yet this season, and overall probably was a touch better than Oakley last season, but he really wasn't great. Williams was much worse than that, but with a similar playing style.
sdb Posted 31 August 2008 Posted 31 August 2008 Every game just seemed to pass Williams by as far as i can remember
lavrentis Posted 31 August 2008 Posted 31 August 2008 It was just his hair that made everyone think he was good
bigneville Posted 1 September 2008 Posted 1 September 2008 Williams was a technically good footballer. Just a lazy player. Never one for a battle.
Father Ted Posted 1 September 2008 Posted 1 September 2008 If Williams was lazy then Clemence must secretly be that little fat guy in the wheelchair on Little Britain!
The Reverend Posted 1 September 2008 Posted 1 September 2008 If Williams was lazy then Clemence must secretly be that little fat guy in the wheelchair on Little Britain! Are you suggesting that Clemence is lazier than Gareth bloody Williams? If you are, i suggest you get to the opticians. I cant remember a player ever as lazy as Gareth Williams. Ever.

It's all a matter of personal opinion mate, I didn't think Gareth Williams was any lazier than certain other midfielders we've had since our last premier league appearance. I think with better management and less niggling injuries he would have been a real hit at this club.

I dont think it was so much the laziness that bugged people about Williams. It was the fact that you could see he had some talent, and he never utilised it because he was lazy. People will love a battler who cant player football, but not a lazy bastard that can play football.
