davieG Posted 2 September 2008 Posted 2 September 2008 From OS King Earns Pro Contract Posted on: Tue 02 Sep 2008 Craig King has followed in the footsteps of Luke O'Neill and signed his first professional contract with Leicester City. The 17-year-old winger/striker from Chesterfield has put pen-to-paper on a three-year deal having impressed for the Academy and Reserves in recent seasons. King was an unused substitute in the Carling Cup defeat at Fulham but is held in high regard by the Foxes management team. Manager Nigel Pearson said: "Craig is another young lad who has a bright future ahead of him. "He is very level-headed and knows that he still has an enormous amount of work to do if he is to continue to progress in the game. "But he deserves to have been rewarded for his attitude and application and we will be keeping a close eye on his development."
Thracian Posted 2 September 2008 Posted 2 September 2008 That's some contract for a lad who's good but has never been brilliant in any of the games I watched. Mind you, he's often been the youngster of the team, having made appearances for the Under 18's as an under 16. It will be interesting to see how many goals he scores for the Academy this season after that sort of career booster. Good luck to him. I don't know where Cloud Nine is located but he'll doubtless be on it.
James. Posted 2 September 2008 Posted 2 September 2008 Thracian wishes he came up with that thread title!

Thracian Posted 2 September 2008 Posted 2 September 2008 What kind of striker is he Thrac? Is he more of the Howard type or a Dickov? He's nothing like Howard that's for sure. He's busy like Dickov and likely to turn up anywhere. He'll take people on or turn them to make positions for a shot but has tended to be a bit greedy or to take a touch too many although that aspect has improved considerable over the last 12 months. Whether he'll be as natural an all-round attacker as Billy McKay I don't know but a three-year deal suggests the City staff think so.
