Samilktray Posted 24 September 2008 Posted 24 September 2008 Notorious. First trailer released for the movie based on Biggie's life, out around my Birthday time as well... Sweet. Looking forward to this, Best rapper not alive in my opinion and he never got a chance to show his full potential.

Samilktray Posted 10 February 2009 Author Posted 10 February 2009 Off to see this sometime over the week. Chuffed.
Jay Posted 10 February 2009 Posted 10 February 2009 I don't know about this film I mean whatever you think about how good a rapper he was, he was still a bit of scum bag crack dealer, criminal and preacher of violence and hate I even more suspect of Combs, Diddy, dickhead or whatever name he goes by at the minute releasing and producing a film "in memory" or making more cash for himself of the back of a former friend as it should be know no doubt making both of them out to be wonderful human beings and avoiding much of the truth. The fact remains that he acted like and was involved with a load of arseholes and any film that involves Diddy and former managers is I would imagine going to leave a massive portion of truth out in a self protection and self beneficial way if you get what I mean.

I think his Mum was more involved with the making and story than Combs. But either way, whatever he got upto in his life didnt effect me, and he sure knew how to put a story together in a song.
purpleronnie Posted 10 February 2009 Posted 10 February 2009 He aint in Snow's league. Informer!!!!!!

A sublime performance by Claude Rains deservedly getting an Oscar nomination. Only to be beaten by amputee Harold Russell for his protrayal of Homer Parrish in The Best Years of Our Lives. ..................can't remember a character called Biggles though!
BoneDog Posted 16 February 2009 Posted 16 February 2009 95% of Hip Hop has gone wack since 2000 or even before in some cases. There's no real rawness there anymore and I suspect Biggie would of ended up going the same way (you never know though he might of stayed raw and true to hip hop). Just like Jigger and the rest who used to talk more sense in their rhymes. I don't give a shit what size rims you got or what size ya womans ass is. That aint hip hop.

Completely agree I dont really listen to Rap anymore I do have a decent collection but most are from 1988-1993. Its just rapping about how much money you have, how much you hate another rapper its really dull. The film has been panned by the critics I've read. We need another Public Enemy.
James. Posted 16 February 2009 Posted 16 February 2009 95% of Hip Hop has gone wack since 2000 or even before in some cases. The 5% that hasn't is quality though. That's the bit I concentrate on, there's plenty to get stuck into.
Samilktray Posted 16 February 2009 Author Posted 16 February 2009 Off to see this tonight, not heard a bad word about it. And I dont particularly agree with the 95% of HipHop is shit anymore, I think its just grown and whether you think it was in a bad way or good way 95% is a bit of an exaggeration. Each to their own though, I enjoy the majority of it still, if I wanna listen to something deep then I'll throw some Nas, Talib Kweli or something similar on, and if I want something commercial and easy to listen to then I've got plenty of that aswell.

Used to love east coast rap and the odd west coaster. I bang out 'Black Steel' nearly every day still

It's just that 95% of what I do hear seems crap, just like pop music and to me hip hop aint pop
BoneDog Posted 17 February 2009 Posted 17 February 2009 Great film. Has it got any 'live' scenes at shows? I used to frickin love Gimme the Loot
