marbelladave Posted 27 September 2008 Posted 27 September 2008 Should have won by 3 or 4. banjo anyone? Hard to moan given the start to the season, but our strikers...........! Early goal when Hartlepool were all over the place then 90+ minutes when we really did not work their keeper anywhere near enough. Sounds very much like the Orient game (which I did see) but with more possession. Be nice to hear from thos who did go. Still, given that we had the ball in the box A LOT, we really should get more attempts on target.

Guest shearfox Posted 27 September 2008 Posted 27 September 2008 Adams and Dyer were awesome today, another nice solid display, the only disappointment is the strikers not scoring from the bucket load of chances that are being made.
Joe. Posted 27 September 2008 Posted 27 September 2008 Well, we got the win so I can't complain too much. One criticism though is that we seriously lacked ideas in the final third, and the final ball was shocking. Either way, three points will do nicely! Credit today to Lloyd, Tunchev and Powell who I thought were our best three players.
Mark Posted 27 September 2008 Posted 27 September 2008 Adams and Dyer were awesome today, another nice solid display, the only disappointment is the strikers not scoring from the bucket load of chances that are being made. Number of crosses that came to nothing is a worry, not just from the strikers but the defenders rarely threatened from corners. Decent performance overall they passed it about well throughout but the goals really are drying up. Hoping DJ is back soon, not for his goals but his pace is an asset, at times today Dyer was that fast the strikers were struggling to keep up!
LcFcDEC Posted 27 September 2008 Posted 27 September 2008 why was adams playing he was lazy doesnt tackle and lacks a good cross
syston_fox Posted 27 September 2008 Posted 27 September 2008 Credit today to Lloyd, Tunchev and Powell who I thought were our best three players. Yeah they were the three stand out players for me too. Tunchev is far to good for this league and was nice to see Ex England International Chris Powell pushing forward a lot more today! why was adams playing he was lazy doesnt tackle and lacks a good cross Don't think you could call his performance lazy by any stretch! He was up and down all game long.
LcFcDEC Posted 27 September 2008 Posted 27 September 2008 Don't think you could call his performance lazy by any stretch! He was up and down all game long. well yeh maybe he wasnt lazy but sometimes he doesnt put his full effort in and his final balls most of the time were poor
lildave3 Posted 27 September 2008 Posted 27 September 2008 Good win, very solid throughout the team apart from the front two who were shit.
maddog Posted 27 September 2008 Posted 27 September 2008 We played well for the first 10 minutes or so then were average-poor for the rest. The keeper is shit, Adams is poor. A good result, but if Lloyd Dyer gets injured, we are fooked. All the goals seem to be coming from Dyer's pacey runs and hes scoring a few himself. If we didn't have Dyer and Gradel we would be an average side. And what was up with the shooting today, how much are these professional footballers paid? And they can't even fooking get any power behind their shots. With all that weight of Howard and Fryatt they should be able to get behind em.
dandannieldanok Posted 27 September 2008 Posted 27 September 2008 As for the crosses coming to nothing, Howard was taking a bit of criticism for not getting into good position on RL commentary, don't know if anyone who went would agree with this? They also seemed to think Adams was great.
Joe. Posted 27 September 2008 Posted 27 September 2008 The keeper is shit What makes you say that aftr his performance today?
Simi Posted 27 September 2008 Posted 27 September 2008 Not bad. Dyer was by far the man of the match, cracking display. Tunch was solid and completely dominant over their forwards. Fryatt was greedy and very wasteful and Howard didn't really do that much, surprised we didn't try and change it towards the end and try and get a second.
maddog Posted 27 September 2008 Posted 27 September 2008 What makes you say that aftr his performance today? He made an awful punch from a corner that nearly costs us a goal and kicked the ball out of play a few times. He caught a few good crosses and didn't have a save to make. A professional goalkeeper shouldn't be praised for catching 2 or 3 crosses, and almost costing us a goal from a corner and kicking the ball out of play. I'm just angry that Henderson doesn't play, he's just a better all round keeper than Martin.
Tilley Posted 27 September 2008 Posted 27 September 2008 Adams - Quality. Dyer - What a signing. Oakley - Better. Missed being able to bring Dickov or DJ on when Fryatt & Howard were running out of ideas. Tunch & Hobbs look far better than Morrison. Should have won by more, oh well, three points. Get the win Tuesday, & we are top, happy days.
DB11 Posted 27 September 2008 Posted 27 September 2008 Fryatt and Howard were equally poor. However when Fryatt had a missed shot it was just "Oooooooooooh" but when it was Howard it was "Booooooooooooooo get him off loada shit" etc.

However when Fryatt had a missed shot it was just "Oooooooooooh" but when it was Howard it was "Booooooooooooooo get him off loada shit" etc. Howard was especially worse than Fryatt today though, there was no way he was fit today.
DB11 Posted 27 September 2008 Posted 27 September 2008 Howard was especially worse than Fryatt today though, there was no way he was fit today. Yeh but his shots were not worse than Fryatts. His were more powerful too.
LcFcDEC Posted 27 September 2008 Posted 27 September 2008 Tunch & Hobbs look far better than Morrison. would have morrison over hobbs any day. Hobbs just hits the ball and hopes it goes to someone
Simi Posted 27 September 2008 Posted 27 September 2008 would have morrison over hobbs any day. Hobbs just hits the ball and hopes it goes to someone Are you sure you haven't got the names mixed round?
Tilley Posted 27 September 2008 Posted 27 September 2008 would have morrison over hobbs any day. Hobbs just hits the ball and hopes it goes to someone Have you seen Morrison's performances recently. Be quiet.
Webbo Posted 27 September 2008 Posted 27 September 2008 Solid performance. Dyer was excellent and Adams wasn't far behind. Adams' corners were an improvement on what we've had so far this season. Fryatt worked his plums off today without really looking like scoring. Howard won a lot of flick ons but again never really looking like scoring.
Joe. Posted 27 September 2008 Posted 27 September 2008 would have morrison over hobbs any day. Hobbs just hits the ball and hopes it goes to someone Ah yeah you're right, I forget Morrison hits accurate pass after accurate pass straight to feet. He's not know as 'the hoof' for no reason y'know...
lildave3 Posted 27 September 2008 Posted 27 September 2008 Fryatt and Howard were equally poor. However when Fryatt had a missed shot it was just "Oooooooooooh" but when it was Howard it was "Booooooooooooooo get him off loada shit" etc. Too right lad. Howard was especially worse than Fryatt today though, there was no way he was fit today. Nonsense. At least Howard can actually pass the ****ing ball 2 yards and make it to a player.
