LcFcDEC Posted 27 September 2008 Posted 27 September 2008 Have you seen Morrison's performances recently.Be quiet. Yeh about the same as hobbs. Hobbs nearly gave a penalty away and isnt fast enough.Morrison by far is the better player
whitlock Posted 27 September 2008 Posted 27 September 2008 He made an awful punch from a corner that nearly costs us a goal and kicked the ball out of play a few times. He caught a few good crosses and didn't have a save to make. A professional goalkeeper shouldn't be praised for catching 2 or 3 crosses, and almost costing us a goal from a corner and kicking the ball out of play. I agree to a degree with the punch wasnt a solid punch but he could of never caught that. I dont seem to remember one of his goal kicks going out of play? Kicking off the floor seems to be stronger than out of hands IMO. Made some good saves and a very good save in the first half. No compliants from him today personally.
Thracian Posted 27 September 2008 Posted 27 September 2008 Solid performance. Dyer has excellent and Adams wasn't far behind. Adams' corners were an improvement on what we've had so far this season. I'd agree with that but we're still not showing any precision or imagination. We really have to start asking different questions from these situations. And being accurate. Oakley's free-kick was an example. The idea was to feed Howard who would nod it across goal for King to tap in but it broke down because Oakley's no free-kick specialist and failed to pick out Howard. You have to perfect such moves in training and there's no signs that it's being done. We never take a short corner with some sort of pre-planned purpose. We never hit a man at the near post. There still needs to be major improvement and more pace on the ball when it's delivered.
Fox You Forest Posted 27 September 2008 Posted 27 September 2008 Yeh about the same as hobbs. Hobbs nearly gave a penalty away and isnt fast enough.Morrison by far is the better player That is ridiculous. I thought we were fairly comfortable today thanks mainly to Tunchev and Hobbs. Dyer was immense, Adams was pretty good too. On another day we could have won this by a few goals, Lots of half chances.

davieG Posted 27 September 2008 Posted 27 September 2008 Adams' corners seemed extremely floaty. Annoyed me. Reminded me of a certain Gareth Williams who always reminded me of a golfer trying to chip the ball onto the green.
syston_fox Posted 27 September 2008 Posted 27 September 2008 Reminded me of a certain Gareth Williams who always reminded me of a golfer trying to chip the ball onto the green. Or Frank Sinclair trying to chip a penalty?
Koke Posted 27 September 2008 Posted 27 September 2008 Hartlepool United - Good under-rated footballing side. None of that hoofing and bullying like Millwall. Played the ball on the floor, passed and moved and created some good openings but their final ball lacked quality. I'm also not too sure about their back line. Credit must go to Danny Wilson for setting up his side playing football the right way. If they make some reinforcements to their defensive unit, then I'm sure they'll up there come May - Underdogs for promotion I'd say. As for us, plenty of chances, unable to find the back of the net. The two CB's looked assured, especially Tunchev. Lloyd Dyer is absolute immense, talk about beating his man for fun. And the boy has pace to burn.
Daggers Posted 27 September 2008 Posted 27 September 2008 31 cross and 18 goal attempts? Really? At the match I was at you say? Blimey. I'd swear the game I went to was a tedious and drab 0-0 were it not for the scoreboard. Well, we got the win so I can't complain too much. One criticism though is that we seriously lacked ideas in the final third, and the final ball was shocking. Either way, three points will do nicely! ...so I'll agree with everything Joe said. I hate home games. Don't worry - they'll all be moved to Tuesdays soon so you won't have to/be able to get to them anymore
clazkel Posted 27 September 2008 Posted 27 September 2008 Good win, very solid throughout the team apart from the front two who were shit. I think its alittle unfair to say that. The defence were solid , but second half especially we were attacking for most of it which meant the defence didn't have to defend. They didn't do enough with the chances they had i know, but the best form of defence is attack and i thought we did that well today. Some of the balls (from crosses) in the box weren't great today so it was hard for the strikers to get onto them. I think it is unfair to single Fryatt and Howard out. I think it was an all round decent team performance!
lildave3 Posted 27 September 2008 Posted 27 September 2008 31 cross and 18 goal attempts?Really? I think most of those were Fryatt. I also think most of those were straight down the keepers throat. Coincidence?
Anish Posted 27 September 2008 Posted 27 September 2008 Shooting practise anyone? FFS the shots on goal were a joke for so-called professionals. Fryatt gets no power on his shots at the best of times but today Howard seemed to have picked up Fryatt's habit. We could and should have won by at least 3 goals if they would learn how to shoot from 18 yards. Dyer was immense, by far and away the best player on the pitch - though his cross was Oakley's goal wasn't the best and we got lucky that their defender made a complete hash of it. I just wish Dyer would hog the touchline and stay in his position a bit more - he skinned their right back so many times and would have done so even more if he hadn't drifted infield so much. Overall, it was a decent-ish performance. Tunchev is a rock and I thought Powell and Gilbert were great with the amount of support they gave going forwards. Adams was good but his final ball let him down at times. I was disappointed with Oakley and King - if only one of them would bomb into the box and try to get onto the end of crosses (like Oakley did with his goal). Neither of them seem to bust-a-gut to get into the box and on a day like today with Fryatt and Howard misfiring, we needed others to try to get on the end of things. Hartlepool played some nice and tidy football - which probably helped us after what Milwall did to us last time.
SamL Posted 27 September 2008 Posted 27 September 2008 I'd like to echo pretty much what others have said in this thread. A win's a win, solid performance but a little iffy up front. I think we lacked a few ideas in the final third. Need to work on our final ball a bit. Dyer was our stand out player today.
Manwell Pablo Posted 27 September 2008 Posted 27 September 2008 Nice to see we're all happy with the result.
clazkel Posted 27 September 2008 Posted 27 September 2008 Nice to see we're all happy with the result. I'm really happy with the result, a wins a win and hopefully after Tuesday night we will be top of the league. At this point in the season and the poor season we had last season i don't think we can ask for any more at this moment in time!

Anish Posted 27 September 2008 Posted 27 September 2008 Judging by the amount of moaning on here it seems we can. It's hardly moaning when you say that Howard didn't do much and the shooting from the strikers was poor. That's clearly a fact, but I'm sure we're all delighted with the result and the table. It doesn't mean we should ignore weaknesses and areas for improvement.
clazkel Posted 27 September 2008 Posted 27 September 2008 Judging by the amount of moaning on here it seems we can. I suppose we should've finished the game off when we were on top first half and we never and we had alot of chances that we should've done better with but i am happy with the position we are in at the minute and think the football we are playing is a vast improvement on last season. I understand we are in a lower league but i think the team is better balanced than last season and would do a decent job in the championship
AmericanScott Posted 27 September 2008 Posted 27 September 2008 Sounded like an exciting game from the radio. A lot of chances but no more than one goal alarms me. Usually we'll play great all game, then conceed a late goal. Glad that didn't happen today. Did anyone hear Radio Leicester read my text out at around 2pm?

I totally agree about Howard but then he is just shit. Cest la vie. Fryatt bashing however is not on, look how many goals he has scored, he's had an off game and we've won. I never thought I'd hear myself say this but where was Campbell?

Most games this season have been off games for Fryatt. Yes, it's a bold claim, but I went there.

lildave3 Posted 27 September 2008 Posted 27 September 2008 7 goals say your wrong. Young man. Not really. The amount of clear cut chances he's had he should have at least 10 goals. If he actually he learnt to pass/shoot without taking 14 touches then i'd be wrong.
