Manwell Pablo Posted 30 December 2008 Posted 30 December 2008 Just been running around Tranquillity Lane as the slasher, Great stuff. I actually managed to work out the puzzle and disable the whole Tranquility Lane computer program, which was nice.

Same here, how i dont know, fcking difficult that was! I was on it for ages, because at first i thought i'd have to go back to a previous save to do the what the girl tells you!

Been making the most of my two days off and have bee playing this quite a bit, classic game, bit stuck on Rileys Rangers though
Fox You Forest Posted 2 January 2009 Posted 2 January 2009 The main story is actually quite short i had no idea i was near the end, Just went back to a previous save and now me and Fawkes are running round tearing it up.

That's what I did! Make sure you find the alien craft and take the gun and ammo. You'll need it for the final section of the game.
Cat Burger Posted 2 January 2009 Posted 2 January 2009 Unhappy with the ending, I just had to put Oblivion back in as I prefer Wood Elf to irradiated health. I don't think I'll ever finish Oblivion, I'm already an bow wielding god.
The Reverend Posted 2 January 2009 Posted 2 January 2009 Been making the most of my two days off and have bee playing this quite a bit, classic game, bit stuck on Rileys Rangers though What bit? At times, the city parts can be like mazes i found. That's what I did! Make sure you find the alien craft and take the gun and ammo. You'll need it for the final section of the game. No you dont, its not that bloody hard! Unless of course, you put it on hard.

If you ment in general, Rileys Rangers, It's a side quest you pick up from Underworld. If you ment specfically, actually finding the rangers hideout, which I have now done, it's a slag to find, metro stations only way to do it.

Yeah i was talking about the game in general not being that difficult. The Rileys Rangers mission is a toughie, as you say very difficult to find and not wanting to give anything away unless you havent done it, what you actually have to do - its not easy. One of the tougher ones. Loads of uglies.
The Reverend Posted 14 January 2009 Posted 14 January 2009 DLC Downloadable content available from 27th January (360 exclusive by the way ). Really looking forward to this, Fallouts fallen off the radar a bit since i did all of the missions, a few more should entice me back onto it. Excellent. Edit: A patch is also out to fix a few bugs etc...
MC Prussian Posted 14 January 2009 Posted 14 January 2009 Another one I've just ordered from Amazon. Should I be looking forward to this one? Seen some of the trailer(s). Liam Neeson and Malcolm McDowell do some of the voices, right? Not too shabby, but too short or what? With Gears Of War and Resident Evil (in March) there will be plenty of blood shed on the screen, hahahaha....
The Reverend Posted 27 January 2009 Posted 27 January 2009 The new (and exclusive to 360 & Windows) downloadable contentent has came out today - Broken Steel. Downloaded it this morning, had a quick go, not long enough to get my teeth into it though.
Finnegan Posted 22 February 2009 Posted 22 February 2009 I actually managed to work out the puzzle and disable the whole Tranquility Lane computer program, which was nice. Just done this. I was quite proud at how quickly I worked out what I had to do. I wasn't proud of how long it took me to work out the combination, Jesus christ. I just got this for the PC and I have to say - I might be four months behind but it's fucking brilliant.
Manwell Pablo Posted 24 February 2009 Posted 24 February 2009 Yeah it's pretty phenominal. I haven't even got round to downloading Anchorage yet though too much stuff I want/have at the minute and not enough time to do it all in.
Part Of The Crowd Posted 24 February 2009 Posted 24 February 2009 have any of you played the 2003 prototype demo? it is pretty damned good aswell
Finnegan Posted 25 February 2009 Posted 25 February 2009 Yeah it's pretty phenominal. I haven't even got round to downloading Anchorage yet though too much stuff I want/have at the minute and not enough time to do it all in. Fuming at how short it is, though. I was expecting the kind of quality and depth from the likes of Baldurs Gate and the original Fallouts. This is stupidly short, I'm done in a couple of days and I spent AGES pratting around with the Survival Guide. A friend told me about the hockey mask that gives +25 AP and the Ranger Armour so I went straight for them only to find out I was kitted out with some of the best shit going, haha. Get yourself a combat shotgun (easily obtained) and you're set. Sad really, it needs way, way, way more depth to do a great world justice. I reckon I could probably complete the actual main story in only a couple of hours if it was all I did. Really tragic. I'm saved just before Take It Back!, the last mission, and I'm running around at level 16 trying to find stuff to do. I want to get all the mini quests, books and bobbleheads before I do the last mission but it's looking kinda bleak. There's no way near enough subquests to go around.

Theres quite a few sub quests i found - more than enough to keep you going. I agree though, the main story is very short, but theres so much more to do. I've spent like 60 hours on the game, the amount of stuff you can do is just endless. Anchorage is pretty awesome aswel, if a bit buggy in a certain area, but pretty cool. This was my game of 2008 and theres no doubt in my mind at all that has changed. I've not even found all the bobbleheads either.
Finnegan Posted 26 February 2009 Posted 26 February 2009 Don't get me wrong, I love it. But I just find I don't really find the motivation to get stuff done on it now really. You level too quickly for the level cap, there's not enough diversity in quest types, not enough motivation to explore the brilliant bunkers and the world in it and the main plot is just... weak. I love the world. I utterly, utterly adore the world. So much. I love the mechanics, too, I just want to be rewarded more for exploring it. If you've played the Baldurs Gate series (nerdy, I know, but bite me) you'll know the sort of depth I'm talking about. I really have enjoyed it. It's just been all too brief, really. A friend of mine plays World of Warcraft and he said Fallout was very much like an MMORPG just without the other people and he's right. It's that sort of repetitive, fetch-and-carry questing only you don't have the joy of company in it. Shame. I must admit, my copy isn't all that... uhm... let's just say it's not quite as authentic as yours probably is. So I don't think I can install the DLC which is a shame. Edit: It's just occured to me how I can describe this. This game needs Fallout's world and quality of sub-missions - with S.T.A.L.K.E.R's length and depth.
Samilktray Posted 26 February 2009 Posted 26 February 2009 I really wanna get this. Need to get my Xbox fixed first though, and god knows how quick thatll be, or if theyll repair it. <_<
The People's Hero Posted 26 February 2009 Posted 26 February 2009 This has been on the backburner for ages now - but the game really is superb.
samlcfc Posted 26 February 2009 Posted 26 February 2009 I really wanna get this.Need to get my Xbox fixed first though, and god knows how quick thatll be, or if theyll repair it. <_< when people i know have sent them off before they have had them back within a week i think

Perhaps try it on a higher difficulty setting, i personally found the normal setting to be just right. I sort of agree with you on the diversity issues - the missions are similar-ish but thats the way games are - there arent many games that are genuinely ground-breaking in their actual content - it must be very difficult to do. The world is absolutely incredible though - its got so much depth, i could play it for another 60 hours just exploring. The karma is a big point aswel - the type of character you want to be, theres just so many ways to play the game, with multiple responses to your actions. I just think its a brilliant game. No question.
Finnegan Posted 26 February 2009 Posted 26 February 2009 Dificulty isn't really the problem. I couldn't grow bored of the combat system, that's great fun. It's just... everything else! Have you played STALKER? I love it, too, but I couldn't easily go back to it now having played Fallout. I love STALKER, but the Fallout world is better - it's really phenominal. STALKER is a more diverse and expansive game, though, I think.

Samilktray Posted 26 February 2009 Posted 26 February 2009 How much does anybody reckon this would be 2nd hand? I dont do brand new game prices unless I have to.
