Corky Posted 13 October 2008 Posted 13 October 2008 i think so i remeber goin to the home matches durin the dickov prem year , and we we're regulary gettin 32000, now if we had sustained our premship status taht season , instead of goin dwn ahead of portsmouth, bastards, i think we could of got near 40000 the following seasonpeace Maybe, but I don't think we would fill it every week. I may be wrong though
Munzie Posted 13 October 2008 Posted 13 October 2008 I believe any expansion plans are limited to the East Stand so that could possibly change it's appearance quite significantly I bow to your superior knowledge. Why is that? What would be the point though? We would never fill it every week if it was expanded. We struggle enough now (I know any expansion would take place if we were in the Premiership, but honestly, would we fill a 40,000 stadium every week then?) If (and I do mean if) we return to the Premiership, I think we'd have no trouble filling the current quota. How many more we'd attract is a different thing. I think it would take a seriously long run in the top flight to start thinking about 40k+.

But with Leicester there is always a very real threat of relegation, and to have 8,000 extra empty seats would not look pleasant.
davieG Posted 13 October 2008 Posted 13 October 2008 I bow to your superior knowledge. Why is that? Something to do with the strength of the foundations, at least I'm sure that's what I read when it was being built, any way that would be sufficient to take it up to 40,000 I doubt we'd need more, some as your other discussion shows don't think we even need that.
AmericanScott Posted 13 October 2008 Posted 13 October 2008 According to Wikipedia a while ago, Mr. Mandaric will only expand the East stand as long as we become a top 6 Premier league side. I'd love a two tiered east stand.

But that would give the stadium a bit of character rather than a bland, run of the mill, bowl.
Tommeh Posted 13 October 2008 Posted 13 October 2008 Of where we've been so far I'd say Orient. Although we were in by far the best stand. Mixes old with new well and has that Larrrrrrrrndon location. It all depends what sort of fan your are, if you enjoy sitting on your arse in silence for 88 minutes, leave early to escape the queues, then go out and spent £90 in the club shop decking out your family in replica kits then yes us and MK Dons are the best, but if you actually like football it will probably be Elland Road or London Road.
Zingari Posted 13 October 2008 Posted 13 October 2008 when did the mcalpine becone the galpharm , and are we likely to change names ?
lildave3 Posted 13 October 2008 Posted 13 October 2008 when did the mcalpine becone the galpharm , and are we likely to change names ? Their chairmen or something? We were talking about this on the way there. That's when the 'Stade De Mandaric' name was proposed by me. I'm keen.
SystonFox Posted 13 October 2008 Posted 13 October 2008 and after naming it the "Stade de Mandaric" maybe in the Kop they could do the seats coloured so it prints his face ala PNE style. may have trouble with his nose though

I completely forgot about London Road, however the acoustics aren't the best. It was highly amusing last week when the Leeds fans in the seating area were standing up as well .
Ashley Posted 13 October 2008 Posted 13 October 2008 Very true but I think this adds to the character of them however. God forbid when the time comes to expand the Walkers! Probably another symmetrical layer all round - something already allowed for in the design no doubt. The McDons stadium is similar, just at they have'nt bothered to hide their future plans/aspirations! I believe any expansion plans are limited to the East Stand so that could possibly change it's appearance quite significantly Davie's right The Eaststand would be built on first. Then if need(which it will never happen) The Kop & Northstand could be built on however they'd need to make both stands stronger for this to go ahead taking the over all capcity of about 55,000.
Floating Fox Posted 13 October 2008 Posted 13 October 2008 Anyone figured out why the sub-tittle says "Leicester, Standard?" Just bugging me...
Ashley Posted 13 October 2008 Posted 13 October 2008 Anyone figured out why the sub-tittle says "Leicester, Standard?" Just bugging me... I think it means along the lines of Who has the best stadium in the league? Us Leicester? and Standards of other grounds.

I thought Orient's ground was wierd! It seemed like a playing surface in the middle of an industrial estate!! Great atmosphere from the away fans but not good on the eye. If that was my home ground, I would look at purchasing one of the apartments on the corner though!
act smiley Posted 14 October 2008 Posted 14 October 2008 Anyone figured out why the sub-tittle says "Leicester, Standard?" Just bugging me... MKDons have decided to move to the Jupiler league and we got Standard in part-exchange?
Zingari Posted 15 October 2008 Posted 15 October 2008 Anyone figured out why the sub-tittle says "Leicester, Standard?" Just bugging me... leicester or standard liege

If you properly band your games depending on the opposition, then I don't see why not. A tenner to see Leciester Vs whoever nonentity of a club appeared in the Prem in a given year, why not.
