DB11 Posted 16 October 2008 Posted 16 October 2008 Which one(s) are legal positions of the foot in a throw in? I know, btw... just wondering how many of you do because I've heard a lot of different people think different things
Rocket-Ron Posted 16 October 2008 Posted 16 October 2008 A only. if your foot is on the line then it's on the pitch
davieG Posted 16 October 2008 Posted 16 October 2008 Is it also the case that the ball should be in play as soon as it leaves the players hands and that taking a throw along way back from the line is also illegal.
Alexikokopops Posted 16 October 2008 Posted 16 October 2008 Surely if the ball is in play when it's on the line then your foot is in play when it's on the line. Hence A is the only legal one.
Bert Posted 16 October 2008 Posted 16 October 2008 Surely if the ball is in play when it's on the line then your foot is in play when it's on the line. Hence A is the only legal one. Interesting logic. But remember the whole of the ball has to be out of play too! I think A,B,C and legal. The two others aint.

Correct me if im wrong, but im sure the rules have changed a player can take a throw-in from wherever he wants aslong as it is behind the point the ball went out of play. He can also take it from further back. im sure this rule changed sometime a few years ago i might be wrong though. As for the picture. im pretty sure its A,B and C as the whole of the players foot must pass the line for the throw-in to be a foul throw.
Ashley Posted 16 October 2008 Posted 16 October 2008 I'm sure all are correct, arent they? E - Aslong as your foot touches the line the throw is legal?
JakeShingler Posted 16 October 2008 Posted 16 October 2008 I'm sure all are correct, arent they?E - Aslong as your foot touches the line the throw is legal? No way. I think its just A.
DB11 Posted 16 October 2008 Author Posted 16 October 2008 The Laws Of The Game states: "has part of each foot either on the touch line or on the ground outside the touch line" Meaning they are all legal except for E You've learnt something new today!

Yes you are The Law 15 in the Laws Of The Game, specific law is here, says: delivers the ball from the point where it left the field of play Meaning it should be taken from the exact place it left, but we all know the Referee is less likely to pull it up if he takes it slightly nearer to his own goal than if he took it nearer to his opponents goal

DB11 Posted 16 October 2008 Author Posted 16 October 2008 winner You were asking a question not giving an answer

In the distant past I've been subject to a foul throw when taking it a yard or so from the edge of the pitch - has that now gone?
1884 Posted 16 October 2008 Posted 16 October 2008 basically.....if any part of your foot is touching the line, it's a legal throw in, as is if you are behind the line. You were asking a question not giving an answer pffft!

It can be taken as far back as you like, as long as the correct procedure is taken re: hands behind your head etc. Unless of course the ball bounces on the floor before it enters the FOP then I'm guessing it'd be a foul throw. Is that what you mean? So if your heels are on the line, it's legal? Yes as long as any part of both feet is touching the line.
lildave3 Posted 16 October 2008 Posted 16 October 2008 Yes as long as any part of both feet is touching the line. Yeah that's why I said 'heelS'. I generally only have 1 on each foot.
