Lack of communication

Where has the communication gone?

At the start of the season for the first time in a few years our players were playing as a team, our players were shouting at each other, talking, gesturing, working for each other, they knew exactly where each other were, lay offs, e.t.c.

As game's have passed we seemed to have lost all off it, This isn't a slagging off, moaning post, just a observation, opinion and fact. You could actually see and hear the players at the start of the season, in the last few games we may aswell have threw a load of strangers, who have never played together before.

Get the communication together again and we can attempt to move forward, until they don't our performance will continue to be poor.

This was last years problem. I was only partly convinced it was fixed, since we haven't brought any great leaders in. I for one would like a player brought in who was a solid, nothing special, footballer, but with great motivational and leadership skills.

I can only base it on 1 (?) game but I liked Howard in the captain's role when he was captain in a cup game near the start of the season (Carling Cup?).

That made me smile sorry. Howard never LOOKS motivated. I accept that he may be deceptive in that but still.

If todays anything to go by - Hoof or get all the way to the halfway line and then decide to pass back to the GK.

I pretty much agree with everything you've said here.

I think the lack of communication is our major problem at the moment and until it's fixed, the performances won't improve.

This season, like the past few seasons, we're lacking a leader. Oakley just isn't the man for the job, he doesn't communicate and doesn't motivate the players. At this present time, I struggle to see a better option.

We need a leader from the back and for me that would be Kissa, although I think the problem is we haven't got any real loudmouth Keane, Walsh type players in our team which would be ideal. TBH, Martin should be shouting a hell of a lot more and I don't think the fact that the Tunch can't speak English helps.

Communication comes from the spine and the touchline - it isn't down to an individual.

Our best defender doesn't speak the language, the keeper is an idiot and while Oakley & Howard run a decent game other heads are suffering. It was all a little bit better when Powell was present.

Still...eight games unbeaten

You're right about the loss of urgency and togetherness.

The lack of competition for places has left them collectively stale.

And three 90 minute stints in eight days would have taken some sharpness too.

How someone like Porter has not been involved I've no idea especially when the likes of Berner and Hayles get on the bench. I wish our manager would come out straight and say what he's got against Porter. Cosd it must be something pretty bad.

There's never a plan B either. Why, for instance didn't we remove one of the labouring front men Howard or Fryatt and try play 4-5-1 with Adams to try and instil some passing, moving and urgency?

What possible purpose did Hayles serve operating in exactly the same system except the remove the chance of flick-ons or any aerial threat in front of goal?

Or Berner? Presumably Mattock was tiring but what a replacement! What the sodding hell was he ever going to add to our side that would help us win the game. He'd make Dobbin seem athletic and just at a time when we needed to pass the ball faster we get a defender who wants to keep it too himself.
