Lillehamring Posted 13 November 2008 Posted 13 November 2008 Apparently they drove Willie Thorne out of his mansion in the village. My mates seem pretty committed to the idea... nothing to do with his gambling debts, i'm sure.... speaking of willie's mansion, i used to deliver his mercury ...are you from GG?

Spent quite a bit of time in the Old Greyhound (I think it's called) in Glen, my mate used to work there. Many a happy drunken journey home on the X61...

Many a happy drunken journey home on the X61... i think i only ever went in there a few times, despite living there til i was 20.... we used to drink in kibworth as it was half way between the glen and harborough (thanks for the MANY lifts, dad) speaking of the x61, i once wrote a song about it, but i don't have the lyrics in front of me right now...

NewquayFox Posted 13 November 2008 Posted 13 November 2008 Actually born in the house I grew up in, Wood Hill, North Evington/Highfields way back in the late 50s. ;0)
Munzie Posted 13 November 2008 Posted 13 November 2008 Born in Fulham, spent three years living in Honolulu, Hawaii (not made up). Moved back to UK, Uxbridge, Middlesex before moving to Rothwell, Northants in 1998. Been here ever since. Have always had family in Northants and spent many summers, as a kid, in the area. Leicester was my first ever footie game, hence the connection.
Fosse Boy Posted 13 November 2008 Posted 13 November 2008 speaking of the x61, i once wrote a song about it, but i don't have the lyrics in front of me right now... Well, if you're gonna write a song about any bus service in the land, it should be the X61. Think they call it the X3 now, bastards.
stez Posted 13 November 2008 Posted 13 November 2008 I don't know Derrys, not that I bear a grudge against nursery in particular. I do remember strawberry picking at Bentleys in Wanlip (area?) and a big nursery on Cotes Road that my mum used to drag us around. I regret not paying more attention now, as I have an unnerving ability to make innocent plants suffer.Polly Eggs Footpath??? Eh? 'Fraid not. Was it a hotspot for something illicit? Ahhh, the Soar Valley. I could go on for hours. I won't though. err, yeah sorry about that, for some reason i got cossington and thrussington mixed up.....! did you know david in the village store in thrussy? All the best people went to Mundella!!! i was about say you were wrong, and that wreake valley's where all the cool kids went. sadly i've disproved that by being dim (see above)
Tabou Posted 13 November 2008 Posted 13 November 2008 err, yeah sorry about that, for some reason i got cossington and thrussington mixed up.....! did you know david in the village store in thrussy?i was about say you were wrong, and that wreake valley's where all the cool kids went. sadly i've disproved that by being dim (see above) David Hampson? Henderson? Lovely old chap. Probably one of the only shops where you could put it 'on the slate' and clear your bull on payday. He passed away a couple of years ago, which was very sad. His friend (and sister?) kept it going briefly. I lived at the top of Regent Street, next to Mr Naf Naf. Interesting people. <_<

Some of my earliest memeories are of the village hall at Thrussy and the road to Rearsby flooding and yogurt from somewhere. It was a nice village.
