Fez of Mahrez Posted 28 November 2008 Posted 28 November 2008 If we get beat by Dagenham tomorrow? True? Wycombe and all that. I'm too tired to make a proper thread out of this but people don't seem arsed by the FA Cup this year. Any thoughts? Goodnight. PS - I feel like I should really care, and I'm going to the game, but I think the desperation will only kick in if we go behind, and the players probably feel the same. Bet they try and stroll it tomorrow.
Bert Posted 28 November 2008 Posted 28 November 2008 I think it's because we've never been here before, when the 3rd round comes, I'm sure it'll feel how it used to.
Simi Posted 28 November 2008 Posted 28 November 2008 Can't be arsed to go tomorrow, which is weird because last season I was hungry to go to every game. Last years shambles really did make me think twice about paying to go to games where they wont be motivated to play in them. Can see next year being my first without a season ticket for about five years.
syston_fox Posted 28 November 2008 Posted 28 November 2008 I think it's because we've never been here before, when the 3rd round comes, I'm sure it'll feel how it used to. That's assuming we get through tomorrow. The prospect of not being in the third round draw terrifies me as FA Cup 3rd round weekend is generally the best weekend of the year in terms of football. Im hoping for the usual "professional" performance against D&R tomorrow but I expect them to come to the Walkers tomorrow and put up a fight. I can see it being a pretty decent competitive game.
FantasticMrFuchs Posted 29 November 2008 Posted 29 November 2008 make me think twice about paying to go to games where they wont be motivated to play in them. Yup thats the same for me im still unsure weather or not to go today. The tickets only a fiver but its the whole cost of the day that makes the diffrence....maybe i should go old skool and go filbert grocers get 24 cans of pop for a quid, then a sack of choc n a box of crisps never spend more of a fiver in there and come out with shopping bags good times good times!!
Ross-Kemp Posted 29 November 2008 Posted 29 November 2008 I see where you're coming from. It doesn't feel like the Fa cup, but as suggested earlier, when the 3rd round comes around, i'm sure attitudes will change.
Asha Posted 29 November 2008 Posted 29 November 2008 Really hope we take them seriously, keep the right attitute and beat them. Watching the 3rd round draw tomorrow without the excitement of who we're gonna be playing is not something I really want to contemplate though.
SantiagoFox Posted 29 November 2008 Posted 29 November 2008 Looking forward to dangling my feet over the seat in front, banging the seat next to me, and shouting very loudly to the bloke next to me (some 30 seats away). I just hope we concentrate.
C-man Posted 29 November 2008 Posted 29 November 2008 If I can be arsed to make the 160-mile round trip for this game, the players better respect the fact that they are still playing in blue and they have to fight for that right. I think we'll struggle first half, but Pearson will sort it out at half time.
Sparky Posted 29 November 2008 Posted 29 November 2008 Not going this afto , like Syston said im desperate to be in the hat for the 3rd round but i just cant be arsed to go down and pay £15 for today .
Daggers Posted 29 November 2008 Posted 29 November 2008 If all goes to plan then I'll be well full of beer by kick-off and what happens over the ensuing 90 minutes will be irrelevant. I expect it to be shockingly bad, I'll be amazed if I'm wrong. It all calls for a cartoon football shirt, Roy of the Rovers I think.
James. Posted 29 November 2008 Posted 29 November 2008 I'm kind of indifferent but having just seen davieG's link to a live stream it's presented a dilemma. 1. Leicester vs Dagenham & Redbridge 2. England vs New Zealand 3. Wales vs Australia I don't have Sky so 3. will be on the TV. Which means I have to choose between 1. and 2.
maddog Posted 29 November 2008 Posted 29 November 2008 Im not excited about the 2nd round but will be about the 3rd round. Especially as the 3rd round draw is live on ITV on Sunday and last few seasons its been monday lunchtime so ive missed it. We aren't going to win the Fa Cup, i don't want us to go too far because we need to concentrate on the league, but i want to see us get a glamour tie like Arsenal or knock out a Premier League club. Its exciting it is.
demon_dog Posted 29 November 2008 Posted 29 November 2008 At £15 for the game, I don't really care, especially after Tuesday nights performance. Will however sit at home and listen to the match on RL. Hopefully be in the draw for the next round, please let us have a decent home tie to bring some much needed excitement back to the Walkers.
Floating Fox Posted 29 November 2008 Posted 29 November 2008 I'd be excited if it was an away game, it is the FA Cup and the dream of getting to the next round for the excitment of the draw is always there, I'd prefer a small club to some of the bigger ones, but seriously, I can't even enjoy home games anymore, its beyond a joke.
syston_fox Posted 29 November 2008 Posted 29 November 2008 Im not excited about the 2nd round but will be about the 3rd round. But will you still be if we get someone like Millwall or Kidderminster at home? It's the FA Cup and I love this competition no matter which round we're in. It's brought us so many great memories over the years and I really enjoyed the game today - probably more than most of our home league games this season.

Id agree with that, just a shame there wasn't as many to see it. Game would of made a good atmosphere.

I don't blame you, know exactly what you mean. However, I don't think this is purely a Leicester problem and similar attitudes can be found by fans of most clubs of our size. Lack of designated standing areas, over zealous stewarding, stupid ticket prices, family friendly initiatives at the expense of fans in their teens and twenties, architecturally uninspiring and generic stadium designing and other similar factors have turned many fans off going to home games altogether. You've only to look at the fact that on any away day I've been to we've pretty much outsung every set of home fans, yet at Filbert Way the tables are turned entirely and bar a couple of areas of the ground there's no noise at all apart from when Dagwank comes on. Apart from derby games or matches against big clubs, it's very difficult to get motivated or inspired to go to home games even if we end up winning two or three nil on the day.

Same here, the league just can't compare to the excitement, heritage and tradition of the Cup. I've been buzzing when watching the draws for rounds one and two on TV, and don't think we should be mocking it and treating it as thought it's the JP Trophy just because we're entering it at an earlier stage this year. Granted, I wouldn't want to pay £15 for a ticket against a lower league side, but that doesn't mean I wouldn't be distraught or even angry if we'd have gone out of the competition today.
Guest Posted 29 November 2008 Posted 29 November 2008 family friendly initiatives at the expense of fans in their teens and twenties Oi! Some of us oldies aren't exactly enamoured with the sanitisation of football as well, you know!! Cheeky pup......
