Just been in contact with the Leicester Riders and have almost sorted myself with a free pass to go and photograph them on one of their match days.

Really starting to get into the sports photography area now. :)

Some great photo's from Islay Nutty. Some competition for Mikey now.

Maybe I should get some of my Scottish holiday pics posted up - some are semi-decent.

Great Mikey. I imagine basketball is a good sport for photography - you're close to the action and there's a chance to take a photo of a scoring shot every few seconds (as opposed to football where you could wait all game for something dynamic to happen. I used to follow the Riders (though they were the Planters then - showing my age) when they played at Granby Halls (also showing my age.)

Went to a Art and Craft fair. (age concern) Wrote a short report and took some photos with my mobile and small camera (non digital) Mucked the camera up somehow. There are no numbers on the counter display so not sure if it is winding on. But I opened the back near the beginning and there was film being wound on. Probably lost the first 4/5 frames. Just hoping the rest winds on OK. Not used the 35mm for a while so found it difficult loading. Digital cameras are a Godsend.

I have an old Zenith with the Olympic symbol on. Thought about trying it out again but cant find the outer case or flash atm. Plus it's one of the heaviest cameras on the market. It always took a good photo though.

Thanks Trav, stick 'em on and let's have a look!

Sounds awesome Mikey. Can't say I've done a lot of sports photography myself, down to lack of opportunity as much as anything. Wrangling that sort of deal will stand you in good stead though.

If I could be so bold, may I ask for anyone that liked my last batch of photos to vote for their favourite shot of Lancaster on my new photo blog?

There's a competition in the local paper and I want to canvass some opinion on which one constitutes my best shot before I enter... It matters not if you do not know Lancaster, please just go with your gut feeling.

Thanks all.

When my brother first moved up north he ran a B/B in Grange-over Sands. He taught at a school up there somewhere and packed it in when his rise on the promotion ladder was halted by an outsider being made deputy head. Think he was head of year.

Had a few visits up there and used the local train service a lot around the Southern Lakes. Only really passed through Lancaster when researching ale. Good photos though.

My neice is at Uni at Lancaster. Shes doing marketing/advertising I think.

You'd know the delights of Lancaster Blonde and the joys of the Furness Line through Grange to Barrow and beyond then? Well worth the fare alone, particularly if you carry on past Millom and along the coast towards Whitehaven.

yes he lives Cockermouth way now. My mum is in Gt Broughton. A brother in Kendall a sister near Whiehaven. And I'm in Leicester.

Its a few years ago since they lived in the South lakes. If I go up on the coach it makes a stop at Lancaster, the university actually goes up through a tunnel turns round and back down the other side. Then it stops at all the villages. Nice journey.

On your tod in the Midlands then! The uni is actually listed on local bus timetables as "University Underpass", it's very strange!

Got another brother in Leicester. Found this picture on my phone thought I had more. Just found out how to use Bluetooth properly. You are supposed to click receive file. Not sure if this one is mine or a standard phone one but it is JPG and the other phone ones are BMP

And this is a picture on my wall. Won it at some pub near Filbert Street I think. Someone had a do and raffled prizes off one was this. Cant remember all the names of the players

Took the lake from the train. The others may have been on a camera that I deleted photos from accidently then lost the phone which does not seem so bad losing the phone with only one picture on as I had lost the photos anyway.

Cant afford another digital camera yet. Using a 35m film one and I may try my Zenith again. If I can carry it.

Anybody know of any places in Leicestershire with really great views? I want to be up early tomorrow and catch the sunrise, but can't think of anywhere apart from the top of Bradgate Park near Old John/War Memorial that would be that high up. Any ideas are greatly welcomed. Cheers :)

There's Beacon Hill, Bardon Hill and the Quarry at Markfield. I seem to remember a high spot at Breedon on the Hill there's a church there on stop of an out crop, not 100% certain on this one.

Nice one James, love mountainscapes, but never been higher up one than Ben Nevis. I've flown over the Alps (or at least very close to them when we went Italy), but it's not the same.

I love the mountains. Favourite places on earth. Here's a couple more from the Swiss Alps. Being above the clouds is amazing.

Was up at 5am this morning and down at Groby Pools for 6am to catch the sunrise. Also took some shots of the surrounding countryside too. :)

A few simialr ones but as the day became lighter, different colours emerged.
