davieG Posted 30 November 2008 Posted 30 November 2008 Why couldn't we have carried on getting crap managers The Times - A Dagger's fan on life in the football league: "I preferred the Conference, to be honest," said Mark Davis, who helps run the club shop. "You were allowed stand at the games and you could have a drink on the coach on the way to games. Now you can't do that. Also you go to some grounds now and the stewards treat you with contempt."
Daggers Posted 30 November 2008 Posted 30 November 2008 Why couldn't we gave carried on getting crap managers The Times - A Dagger's fan on life in the football league: The day is not far away when I start going to watch non-league on my Saturdays.
Floating Fox Posted 30 November 2008 Posted 30 November 2008 The day is not far away when I start going to watch non-league on my Saturdays. T'is the way forward
Fosse Boy Posted 1 December 2008 Posted 1 December 2008 My housemate's brother plays Conference South for Braintree Town so going to watch them in a couple of weeks. There's quite a few grounds near me that are on the facebook Groundhopper list so I need to visit all of those in the near future!

Fosse Boy Posted 1 December 2008 Posted 1 December 2008 Nice set up they got at Braintree, nice ground and nice fans. Yeah, my mate said they're building a new ground though?
Nationwider Posted 1 December 2008 Posted 1 December 2008 The season will come very soon when I get a Hartlepool season ticket... It's not the conference, but in League terms, it's like the land that time forgot.
Fosse Boy Posted 16 May 2010 Posted 16 May 2010 Oxford 2-0 up in the Conference play-off final at the moment. Both cracking goals by all accounts!
Guest Bilo Posted 16 May 2010 Posted 16 May 2010 I might make the effort to go and watch Grimsby at least once next season when I can't get to City games. I've always Blundell Park as a ground and Grimsby aren't a bad little club, though if they get AFC Wimbledon I'll have a big decision to make. Home or away end? Hmmmm....
Bugg Posted 16 May 2010 Posted 16 May 2010 Oxford 2-0 up in the Conference play-off final at the moment. Both cracking goals by all accounts! Stream?
Fosse Boy Posted 16 May 2010 Posted 16 May 2010 Go on justin.tv. I've got the cricket on my computer while my mate's got the playoff final up on his. 2-1 now. Howler from the Oxford keeper.
C-man Posted 16 May 2010 Posted 16 May 2010 I like both clubs. Good fans. Could be a nawty second half this.
Fosse Boy Posted 16 May 2010 Posted 16 May 2010 Courtney Pitt (ledge) on for Chris Carruthers (ex-Harborough Town Juniors I believe).
C-man Posted 16 May 2010 Posted 16 May 2010 Love how York have a player called Gash. '...this is Gash....'
Matt Posted 16 May 2010 Posted 16 May 2010 Top marks for the turn out for both teams, especially Oxford, no doubt alot of them a daytrippers jumping on the bandwagon but impressive nonetheless.
MC Prussian Posted 16 May 2010 Posted 16 May 2010 Well done Oxford. Caught York on the counterattack. 3-1. Back in League Two.
Unit Posted 16 May 2010 Posted 16 May 2010 Well done Oxford. Caught York on the counterattack. 3-1. Back in League Two. Chuffed, I've been to tons of oxford away games over the years (dads team) and I'm very happy to see them back
Fosse Boy Posted 16 May 2010 Posted 16 May 2010 Top marks for the turn out for both teams, especially Oxford, no doubt alot of them a daytrippers jumping on the bandwagon but impressive nonetheless. To be fair Oxford don't come across as the "daytripper" type of fanbase. They drew a 10k plus gate earlier in the season, which for the fifth tier is bloody impressive. Also looked like most were stood and singing in their end behind the goal today too. Congrats to them, too big a club to be in non-league football (though I guess York are too really).
CosbehFox Posted 16 May 2010 Posted 16 May 2010 Conference have their AGM tomorrow. Expect some odd decisions and teams staying up because of financial worries at other clubs. Did Oxford this season...had a little ultra section but it's an awful, awful ground. Would have like to have done York for the 92 but with Chesterfield's new un, Oxford makes up for losing a ground.
Floating Fox Posted 16 May 2010 Posted 16 May 2010 Love how York have a player called Gash. '...this is Gash....' That word just makes me think of Chiswick everytime i hear it
poopbutt Posted 21 May 2010 Posted 21 May 2010 Courtney Pitt (ledge) on for Chris Carruthers (ex-Harborough Town Juniors I believe). think i played with carruthers at harborough
ousefox Posted 21 May 2010 Posted 21 May 2010 Love how York have a player called Gash. '...this is Gash....' I think the usual chant is "We all love Gash, We all love Gash" Went on sunday and York were quite dissapointing after some of the performances they have had this season, although it didn't help with it absolutely pissing it down. York only took about half of what they took to the FA Trophy last season as all the day trippers had been to Wembley they weren't that bothered this time. The atmosphere was still better than i expected and it was nice to stand in a designated singing section behind the goal where everyone was standing
