surrifox Posted 15 December 2008 Posted 15 December 2008 Fantastic performance by India in the test match. Close to victory in a record run chase
Ric Flair Posted 15 December 2008 Posted 15 December 2008 Only England could have messed this up though. Pathetic.
surrifox Posted 15 December 2008 Author Posted 15 December 2008 Only England could have messed this up though. Pathetic. Yes, they lost the iniative yesterday in the afternoon session about the only session in the game that India won up to that point . This Indian batting line up is awesome though and they are the best side in the world at the moment.
SOCCERROO FOX Posted 15 December 2008 Posted 15 December 2008 Tendulkar what more can you say other than aweosme

A side with a bit more mettle wouldn't have let that slip though even if India are supreme right now.
purpleronnie Posted 15 December 2008 Posted 15 December 2008 Yet again the moronic commentators put there foot in it, oh India have been batted out of it???? No they havent we weren't 500 ahead...morons.
Ultra Posted 15 December 2008 Posted 15 December 2008 I think changes have to be made for the next Test. Bell and Harmison have failed too often, particularly away from home. And bringing in Rashid in place of the over-rated Panesar is an absolute must.
martyn Posted 15 December 2008 Posted 15 December 2008 Panesar was alarmingly bad...I'm pretty sure my dog could turn it on a 5th day pitch in India.
surrifox Posted 15 December 2008 Author Posted 15 December 2008 Panesar was alarmingly bad...I'm pretty sure my dog could turn it on a 5th day pitch in India. Pietersen's body language indicated that he was not impressed. You can get away with being unable to bat and fielding like a traffic cone if you are a potential match winner with the ball - Panesar lacks guile and cricketing nous and whilst knocking england detracts attention from a great batting performance by India (previous highest 4 th innings on this ground was around 150) it is time to look elsewhere. Back up spinner swann looked far more potent and whilst Rashid is probably not yet ready he rather than Panesar looks like the future
Joe. Posted 15 December 2008 Posted 15 December 2008 Just goes to show what teams like India can do to you when they have the likes of Tendulkar and Yuvraj, who can turn it right on when needed. I think Pietersen's decision to keep Panesar on for so long cost England dearly by the sounds of things.
dandannieldanok Posted 15 December 2008 Posted 15 December 2008 Oh dear, only England could have screwed up a position like that. It's not much good dominating for 3 and half days if you can't convert the win. Can't see much hope for the 2nd test, where you can almost guarantee India will buck themselves up and cut out the errors.
RowlattsFox Posted 15 December 2008 Posted 15 December 2008 Sehwag was the difference, yes Tendulkar was brilliant today but Sehwag's innings yesterday gave the Indians the believe they could still win it. Panesar was poor, but the pitch didn't spin as much as I thought it would. Even the Indian spinners failed to find too much turn during the match.
dandannieldanok Posted 15 December 2008 Posted 15 December 2008 Although I'm still hacked off that England lost, I'm happy for the nation of India that they have something else to focus on and now celebrate after the horror of Mumbai. Some quotes well worth nothing from the match-winner paying tribute to those affected.

Bell and Harmison have failed too often, particularly away from home. And bringing in Rashid in place of the over-rated Panesar is an absolute must. What Ultra said. Shah for Bell. Broad for Harmison. Rashid for Panesar. A fantastic batting perfromance from India. A spot-on call for Sehwag as MOTM. Most of all, congratulations to England for getting back out there and playing the game. On this occasion, perhaps the team can be excused the result, even if some individual performances were very poor. Pietersen should be exempted any flack. Sportsmen shouldn't have to be politicians; Pietersen has probably had a very difficult time leading up to this match, a fact that must have had some impact on his batting and captaincy in the middle.
Raj Posted 15 December 2008 Posted 15 December 2008 Only England could have messed this up though. Pathetic. Bit harsh i reckon Mr Flair. India are like Last seasons Chelsea at Home. Awesomely good(is awesomely a word?!) England did well to make a fight of it i reckon.
