The People's Hero Posted 23 December 2008 Posted 23 December 2008 When you consider that Levi went AWOL for a bit earlier in this season and that NP had played him in a lot of pre-season, I think it's fairly clear that footballing ability is not the only factor at work here. If Levi wants first team football he'll have to either knuckle down and show some real hard work, dedication and a good attitude and train with the kids or sod off elsewhere. He's had a handful of good games, a shedload of completely anonymous ones and no shortage of dire ones which had me questioning how he was a professional at all.
Thracian Posted 23 December 2008 Posted 23 December 2008 I was going to agree with you on this point, but having thought about it, my take on this is that we signed plenty of right backs during Stearman's tenure with Leicester but most of them were shit and it meant the only one worth their salt was Stearman, so he was stuck there and a mighty fine job he did too for the majority of the time. Kisnorbo and McAuley were a partnership that weren't really going to be broken up in the last season or so and Kenton, Maybury, Kaebi and I suppose James Chambers were all failures at Leicester. James Chambers was another who hardly got a a game in his best position at right-back because that would have left the awkward political problem of what to do with Stearman bearing in mind City clearly had more faith in the master passmakers that are McAuley and Kisnorbo as centre-backs. Funny how many games we are winning and goals we are scoring with the arrival of Tunchev and we've suddenly got some inclination to pass the ball from the back.
Thracian Posted 23 December 2008 Posted 23 December 2008 Why do you keep going on about Stearman? The situation isn't even comparable, we sold him for a profit to a higher team. We didn't release him to go and play in league two.How many players have we released believing they are not good enough, for them to then go on to better things? I'd imagine there's not even 5 in the last 25 years. Cream will always rise to the top, if the lad makes it fantastic for him and it's something we may regret... but I seriously doubt it. I'd heard this "we'll regret it" nonsense too many times in the last few years. Petrescu, O'Grady, Wright etc etc etc. We can't hang on to players of average ability forever in the hope they'll make it, tough decisions have to be made unfortunately. a) I've not made any "we'll regret it" comments about Porter, Weso etc. I said Porter would be wise to leave as early as last September - simply for the sake of his career - and nothing has since changed that view.
Fez of Mahrez Posted 23 December 2008 Posted 23 December 2008 I think it's hilarious that Porter's finest game, that people keep banging on about, was 20 bloody minutes at Stamford Bridge. Darren Kenton and Carl Cort played well for 90 minutes that night, but you wouldn't have them back. He can't get into a League One midfield on merit at the moment and we are aiming higher than this, so what's the problem?

I'd have never left Kisnorbo, McAuley or Stearman out of our line-up as all 3 were goalscorers, in a team that badly lacked goals. Stearman may be more effective as a centre half and I called for him to be given a chance there, but Kisnorbo nor McAuley ever really deserved to be dropped.

Babylon Posted 23 December 2008 Posted 23 December 2008 Give that man a sodding ice cream. I've heard Levi likes a 99 with a flake and raspberry sauce.
The People's Hero Posted 23 December 2008 Posted 23 December 2008 I've heard Levi likes a 99 with a flake and raspberry sauce. Deep fried with 6 bits of chicken.

Agreed, if everybody was let in on the merit of playing one good game, Lazcko Zsolt would still be around after he shat on cov, all down hill from there though

Babylon Posted 23 December 2008 Posted 23 December 2008 Shocking really how they offered so much in those games... to then turn into shite almost instantly.
stevie909 Posted 24 December 2008 Posted 24 December 2008 It still makes me laugh some of the praise lackzo was getting after that cov game. If i ever saw anyone who bought a shirt with his name on i'd piss myself.
