Callum 1875 Posted 22 December 2008 Posted 22 December 2008 Hi Foxes, I`m a Hibs fan and glad to meet you all, and some of us have been hearing rumours about a possible January deal between our clubs. It`s being kept very quiet up here, as Hibs are a very secretive club historically, but this is the story. We are "informed" that a deal is about to be struck taking our stunning young striker Steven Fletcher to you guys, in a cash plus part-exchange deal with your own Matty Fryatt. Without sounding rude, who is he? What position does he play? What is his value? I ask, as Fletcher is possibly the best young talent in Scotland right now, and even the Hibs forums are keeping very quiet about this. Have you heard anything? p.s. Steven Fletcher is being touted by Glasgow Rangers at the moment, but has made it clear he wants to go south. He is rated at £4-5 million (which as you know is cheap, compared to values down there. I heard this from a Hibs insider/family relative, and we are quite worried. Thoughts please? Callum.
C-man Posted 22 December 2008 Posted 22 December 2008 Plays up front. Has 23 goals this season. There's no need to worry.
Callum 1875 Posted 22 December 2008 Author Posted 22 December 2008 Plays up front.Has 23 goals this season. There's no need to worry. I`ll google him later, when I have finished some online work. Do you think this would be a good deal.......? Or a better one for whom? Cheers.
Finnegan Posted 22 December 2008 Posted 22 December 2008 In a Manwell Pablo-esque statement, I will personally run shirtless up Gallowtree Gate with "EARNSHAW IS TOSS" written on my chest if Steven Fletcher comes to League One Leicester p/e for Fryatt. Absolutely. No. Fucking. Chance.
Callum 1875 Posted 22 December 2008 Author Posted 22 December 2008 Real Madrid want him don't they?? That was tabloid nonsence up here. Hibs to Real? Yeah, right. But to a team the size of yourselves? That IS feasible. That`s what`s worrying a few of us.
Fosse Boy Posted 22 December 2008 Posted 22 December 2008 I'm gonna have to say Deal. Even if it is true, I can't see Fletcher wanting to come to a club in our division, no matter how MASSIVE we are.

Even if it is true, I can't see Fletcher wanting to come to a club in our division, no matter how MASSIVE we are. Sure, but he is a sensible laddie, and if I read it right your crowds are TWICE what we get. sensible step up the rung (as long as the deal is right) What would be a guess-timate by your selves. How much is your lad retailing at? What`s he on a week? I understand Fletch is on 4k a week here. We have a shitty wage structure.
Bryn Posted 22 December 2008 Posted 22 December 2008 Won't happen. Fryatt would probably be decent in the SPL but Fletcher is too good for League One, probably too good for the Championship.

If we got promoted then I'd be slightly more inclined to believe a deal like this could be plausible. Not sure how much Fryatt's on, all we know is that he wants more at the moment!
Matt Posted 22 December 2008 Posted 22 December 2008 Hmmmm, We've been through Scottish players before, I suppose you can't tarr them all with the same brush, I know many international stars have played in the SPL, but I just think the majority of Scottish teams, and Scottish players are poor, most would struggle to compete in Championship/Premiership, possibly even League One. No deal.
Matt Posted 22 December 2008 Posted 22 December 2008 Wasn't Stephen Hughes ment to be the next big thing or atleast highly rated Scottish player when we signed him from Rangers? Cracking player he was for us
Finnegan Posted 22 December 2008 Posted 22 December 2008 1. I can't see Fryatt going to the SPL. If he stays we'll get promoted, if he doesn't he'll be going to the Championship anyway and at his age and in his form the Championship would do far better for him than the SPL. I like the Scots league and I like Hibs, but it'd be like disappearing into the black hole of Calcutta as far as his career goes. 2. I can't see Steven Fletcher coming to City, League One or Championship. He'd be more likely to be poached by a bottom half Prem side freshly promoted a la Kenny Miller. 3. Fryatt's real value is probably somewhere in the region of £2m given current trends; he was linked to a £4m move to West Brom but even that complete joke's more believable than this. I'd be in dreamland if this happened, we'd have completely ripped you off. But I can't see it. As far as Fryatt goes, he's got a good eye for goal and is a fairly instinctive, fox-in-the-box striker. But he clearly and noticeably lacks pace is immensely affected his fairly fragile confidence. He's not strong or tall enough to overcome his lack of athleticism, either, in my opinion - although he is fairly good in the air when he does get a chance.

That`s what we are thinking.............That is a big league considering the one he`s in. Especially the £££`s No, he`s not ready for better, `cos he`s got a left foot to marvel at, but that`s it. Other teams are finding this out up here, and stopping him turning onto it pretty easily. As I said.......he`s a bit raw yet. So maybe Leicester would be a good move up. And now, sadly appearing more and more possible, the more I think about it.
Head Honcho Posted 22 December 2008 Posted 22 December 2008 I personally don't rate Fletcher at 4-5 million. That's the price Rangers or Celtic would pay for him not the price a team from down south would pay for him! I'd stick with Fryatt.
LeeCovFox Posted 22 December 2008 Posted 22 December 2008 This just won't happen. It's far too big a risk for us to swap Fryatt with anybody given his current form and importance in getting us promoted.
Callum 1875 Posted 22 December 2008 Author Posted 22 December 2008 Wasn't Stephen Hughes ment to be the next big thing or atleast highly rated Scottish player when we signed him from Rangers? Cracking player he was for us A certain Hearts bastard named Levein was good for you guys too...........
Callum 1875 Posted 22 December 2008 Author Posted 22 December 2008 Story starting to break up here...........no source yet, watch this space, will post a link if any more comes of it.
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 22 December 2008 Posted 22 December 2008 Steven Fletcher is in a different league to Stephen Hughes. It's insulting to Fletcher to have his name mentioned in the same breath as that "player." Hibs have got alot of players that I wouldn't mind here, Colin Nish would do the business at this level as well.
Finnegan Posted 22 December 2008 Posted 22 December 2008 Meh. The Hibs fans feel the same about Nish as a lot of ours do about Howard, as far as I know. I don't think he'd be much of an improvement if at all. I appreciate Stevey Howard's a tad older but Nish is no spring chicken. Fletcher I'd have, that Morrocan lad I'd have and even though he's been seemingly wank since his return to Easter Road I'd still like to see how Deek performed in the Championship. But Nish? Narh.

There's just something about Nish for me though. Whenever I've seen Hibs he's stood out. Zemmama? If he came he'd be a fan's favourite, no doubt about that.
Finnegan Posted 22 December 2008 Posted 22 December 2008 Aye Zemmama. I loved Benji in the CIS final and the interview with him after was adorable; but I think he's probably a bag of wank in reality, bless him.
