Forest Sack Calderwood

Nottingham Forest have this evening terminated the contract of manager Colin Calderwood with immediate effect.

First team coach David Kerslake has also left the club.

The move came following Forest's 4-2 home defeat at the hands of Doncaster which left the club in the bottom three of the Championship.

Chief Executive Mark Arthur said: "We're grateful to Colin for his efforts over the last two and a half years, in particular for leading us to promotion from League One.

"But we're in a result business and it's imperative that the club stays in the Championship. We need to give ourselves every opportunity to do that."

The club will not be making any further statement at this stage.

Shame - where's the loyalty, gets them promoted and then gets the sack.

He could have taken them back down as well! :giggle:

Bring in Holloway!

Actually no, he seems to do OK at small clubs. ;)

I actually feel a bit for the bloke, got quite a bit of abuse last season in a promotion battle but has struggled this year.

Inevitable really.

I know, talk about a job half done

It's football really. Not rated him as a top quality manager and has been given big financial resources and still hasn't done well with them (promotion after 3 seasons in League 1?) Rob Earnshaw is proving to be a waste of money and is not all that, football goes on and I'm sure he'll get another job.

I minimize FM, see this thread, and instantly felt like clicking 'Apply for job':doh:

Anyway I guess they want a new manager to spend funds in January so, as it was inevitable he'd get sacked, it happened at the right time (well from a club's point of view but it weren't a very good Xmas present was it? :P)

When I heard that Forest were three down at home to a team who have hardly scored all season, I wondered how long he had left.

He's been out of his depth for some time and I'm surprised he lasted as long as he did.

But there are enough managers currently out of work (Davies? Ince? Keane?) who should be able to keep the trees up and give us a crack at taking six points off them next season.

Terrible manager.

I agree and today's result is embarrassing when you consider how Doncaster have struggled to score all season. However I still find it a bit strange, they are only one point off safety and have picked up of late. The owner/chairman seem to have ideas above their station, what were they expecting?

Who are you managing at present on FM to make you want to take on the fcuking Forest job? East Stirling? lol

Davies is probably the most likely.

Although it would be highly amusing if Ian Holloway got the gig...
