stez Posted 5 January 2009 Posted 5 January 2009 Because I cannot remember a single Government before the current Labour administrations ever seeking to establish significant numbers of gypsy sites anywhere. i don't want to argue here, it's just you made a general point and i answered that, i don't believe i said anything about travellers sites.
Thracian Posted 5 January 2009 Posted 5 January 2009 i don't want to argue here, it's just you made a general point and i answered that, i don't believe i said anything about travellers sites. Okay, okay, I'm cool. I hate arguing with people anyway.

Giving them a permanent base makes it easier to tax them. They will also have to pay for the privilege of having their shit cleaned up for them, and there is also no excuse for them not sending their kids to school. Some might say that is a good thing.

A classic example of a good idea in principle which no one likes the realities of. Taxing people requires some kind of proof of their income, which is difficult if they are outside the system, as does charging for clean up. A friend of mine lives over the railway line from one of the largest traveller sites in the South. He has the pleasure of being able to see his kids trampoline on Google Earth just 200 yeards from where it used to reside in his Garden before they nicked it.

I've posted on numerous occasions of my dislike of travellers groups, having had to put up with them at school.
Dr The Singh Posted 7 January 2009 Posted 7 January 2009 The town where i work has one of the largest travelling communities and there is alot of negativity towards them, and people live in fear of this community. My own personal experience with this community isn't great either!!
