General Smuts Posted 5 January 2009 Author Posted 5 January 2009 is it gypsies or (new age) travellers? Officially Travellers but i'm sure they'd fight you for a fiver.
Cobbo Posted 5 January 2009 Posted 5 January 2009 Officially Travellers but i'm sure they'd fight you for a fiver. They, they, THEY!? Denial!

Thracian Posted 5 January 2009 Posted 5 January 2009 The next gypsy site I would build anywhere would be here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chequers In fact I think the next 10 gypsy sites should impact on places where Labour politicians live. They clearly delight in fecking up other people's neighbourhoods. Well let them sample the consequences for themselves. There is nothing like experience for those charged with decision making.
General Smuts Posted 5 January 2009 Author Posted 5 January 2009 Are there auditions to become travellers? Haha! It's more a case of a big crowd wanted as a form of protest against the site.
Rodderz Posted 5 January 2009 Posted 5 January 2009 Officially Travellers but i'm sure they'd fight you for a fiver. Or they might fight you for your dog.
Thracian Posted 5 January 2009 Posted 5 January 2009 Haha! It's more a case of a big crowd wanted as a form of protest against the site. Peaceful protest will get you nowhere now Labour have got another bit of social engineering into their heads. Public opinion is just an annoying inconvenience to this Governement. Why do you thing we never got the referendum Blair promised?

Why do you thing we never got the referendum Blair promised? as opposed to the ones , in the past , that do bow to public opinion? to be honest i have little time for (new age) travellers, as they do themselves no favours leaving their shit and rubbish everwhere, true gypsies on the other hand are a cracking bunch of lads
Corky Posted 5 January 2009 Posted 5 January 2009 as opposed to the ones , in the past , that do bow to public opinion?to be honest i have little time for (new age) travellers, as they do themselves no favours leaving their shit and rubbish everwhere, true gypsies on the other hand are a cracking bunch of lads Stez 'Rob' Kelly is here
Thracian Posted 5 January 2009 Posted 5 January 2009 as opposed to the ones , in the past , that do bow to public opinion? Has Groby been the subject of a previous such application that I've forgotten? The epidemic of gypsy site proposals seem to be a phonomena of this Government not the Government of Attlee or Bonham Carter or someone else in the dim and distant past. Apart from Chequers and other places next to or near the homes of Labour politicians, Wales would be the ideal site for all gypsy camps. It's a dramatic country. The families would benefit from any number of exciting outdoor opportunities like rockclimbing, wildwater rafting, mountain biking and so much more. There's an abundance of water. The nation is underpopulated in relation to its landmass. And it is a bastion of socialism and therefore full of the sort of people who would welcome the chance to improve the lot of literally hundreds of their fellow men. Wales is definitively fairly close to the coast and therefore perfectly situated to offer further recreational opportunities for the new arrivals. surfing, canoeing, sailing, horse riding ... And anything that served as a boost to the local economy would surely be welcomed in such an isolated place. Not only that but school populations would also be boosted, potentially preventing the closure of such facilities due to there being more sheep than people around places like Builth Wells. As for work, I can't imagine it's any harder to find in Wales than in England because there's none here anyway. Nor are the prospects for improvement reassuring. Just taking the next few months Goforit Gordon has promised 100,000 new jobs which is just 500,000 short of the ones predicted to be lost! At least if a job did crop up in Wales there wouldn't be the same length of queue for it cos there isn't the same density of population. What do gypsies do for work anyway. They like their scrap. Wasn't Wales full of iron and steel? There must be as much left in Wales as most places. What did they do with all those old steam engines? Or there's landscaping! Okay it's a small step on but Wales could do with some decent roads, apart from the main drags, and surely there must be some scope for creating tourist friendly landscapes in all those beautiful fields. Another thing is the gypsies positively love boxing and Wales just worships good fighters. There's a tradition of boxing in Wales. Tommy Farr, Johnny Owen, Howard Winstone...you can almost hear the old songs now. The clubs could be revived, the gypsies could become trainers, managers, the prospects are endless. Problem solved...

GLC Posted 5 January 2009 Posted 5 January 2009 My best friend as a youngster was a gypsy and I doubt even he'd believe that. i had a mate who was a gypsy, he then stole my seesaw

Daggers Posted 5 January 2009 Posted 5 January 2009 What do the Leicester Palestianians think about all of this, that is what I want to know.
Corky Posted 5 January 2009 Posted 5 January 2009 What do the Leicester Palestianians think about all of this, that is what I want to know. They'll protest at that place near McDonalds and a few other shops that has a big clock
Thracian Posted 5 January 2009 Posted 5 January 2009 dunno what prompted that 'little' out burst, you made a general point about the govenment seeing public opinion, being an inconvinience, i pointed out it t'was ever thus Because I cannot remember a single Government before the current Labour administrations ever seeking to establish significant numbers of gypsy sites anywhere.
stez Posted 5 January 2009 Posted 5 January 2009 They'll protest at that place near McDonalds and a few other shops that has a big clock can you be more specific? i have no idea where you mean! big clock you say? i can't say's i've ever seen one of those in leicester
Corky Posted 5 January 2009 Posted 5 January 2009 can you be more specific? i have no idea where you mean! big clock you say? i can't say's i've ever seen one of those in leicester My description was first brought about by DB11 on 4/1/2009. I think he meant the Clock Tower, but I'm not sure.
