Thracian Posted 9 January 2009 Posted 9 January 2009 I'm not saying there's a severe shortage of job opportunities but a bloke I've mentioned on here recently has just picked up on one opportunity and bought me the details down to see what I thought. My acquaintance is coming up 50 and makes me look slim (actually my wife disagres with that bit) but the payscale appealed to him and you should look out for him if you're on the town anytime soon... Cos the vacancy was for a pole dancer. Whether he can make the levels of fitness required I don't know but with a name like Richard it shouldn't be hard for him to think up a stage name!
Mickey O'Neil Posted 9 January 2009 Posted 9 January 2009 My dad's a CPN in highfields and says that once you finish the courses and that it's like being 'let out of school' as in you can just go out and talk to people, sounds like it's a decent job That's where I eventually want to be after I've got [even more] experience in a forensic setting. I take it your dad works for the NHS? I went round St. Annes with a CPN last year for a few months...absolutely loved it even though it was Mon/Fri & 9-5.
The Reverend Posted 9 January 2009 Posted 9 January 2009 Which one?Can I help you with anything? What classes of business do you get involved in? The biggest - Aon - i'm only just starting out, but if i need to know anything, i'll shout up. My work mainly consists of Public liability and commercial vehicle insurance, though I am on a new training scheme with a view to move around several departments of the Leicester office, so it should be cool. Who do you underwrite for and what do you mainly underwrite?
Sparky Posted 9 January 2009 Posted 9 January 2009 Some bloke offered me a job last week , £500 a week to work for the brittle bone society , so i snapped his hand off

Finnegan Posted 9 January 2009 Posted 9 January 2009 I Have been looking for work for a months now and with not much expierance its so hard. I've fair experience... ... but it's all in fucking retail.
Rodderz Posted 9 January 2009 Posted 9 January 2009 I've fair experience...... but it's all in fucking retail. Well thats better than nothing mate, ive only the expierance i gained doing my work expierance when i was at school.

Yeah but I'm guessing you're not 22? I've been working since I was 16 (15, actually) and besides a stint in kitchens it's pretty much exclusively been shop work - which is pretty toss unless you want to be a manager (I don't) or earn minimum wage for ever (I don't.)

Well no i am 17 left school last summer, went college till christmas but now i am sick of it. so i want a job but i just aint having no luck all the agency's say you have to be 18 and most employers want expierence <_<
Libertine Posted 9 January 2009 Posted 9 January 2009 went college till christmas but now i am sick of it. Ugh, ain't that the truth? This is my third year in college, but I'm really not enjoying it all this year and my attendance is terrible.

Now is a really, really bad time to be getting a job. As much as I take the piss, retail would be ideal for you at the moment. Just bombard town with CVs in a couple of weeks when Christmas dies down and the students start heading back to Uni. Don't get your hopes up, though, most shops will be letting staff go about now (hence why I'm about to be unemployed, I think - we'll find out tomorrow[!]) not hiring. Can you sign on when you're 17? I presume so, it must be 16+? If you can then that's your best bet. Get on JSA and get talking to the lovely people at JC+. It's a bit daunting at first and you might end up thinking "shit, I really shouldn't be here" - as I did. But once you get over your snobbery / prejudices and relax, the people there are fairly helpful. Personally, though, I'd be right on to Connexions before any of that. I'm not 100% sure where the Connexions office is in Leicester but they're way, way less intimidating and they're specifically designed to take care of people in EXACTLY your situation. This is my third year in college, but I'm really not enjoying it all this year and my attendance is terrible. Just hang in there, bum your coursework and sit your exams. I don't mean to rub my ego in everyone's face but my attendance in my A2 year was about 25% and I left with two As and a C. It took fairly minimal effort and you strike me as a lad with smarts, Libs. No sense at all in flunking now, you'll regret it massively.

Yeh to be honest that proably is my only option, i can sign on but like you said its realy dawnting becuase signing on is sterio-typed as a trampy thing to do. i tried connexions and to be honest they are shite or it might just be the connexions worker i get but she has not got a clue. i realy am getting low now i applied for fooking mcdonalds but hey ho, work is work i suppose.
