Zingari Posted 11 January 2009 Posted 11 January 2009 agreed , and if you'll pay for the grand piano and extention to my house to accomodate it, i'll do it straight away not sure i want those two shifty looking characters hanging about my house though

Please have a quick gleg Was getting a bit repetitive. There may be developments that occur in the near future. Closing the thread fooks that discussion up. One of the few things to get your teeth into on the forum, so a bit perplexed!!

l444ry Posted 11 January 2009 Posted 11 January 2009 has it been closed , or is it just a 3 hour ceasefire ? Dunno, but wake me up again if it re-opens.
davieG Posted 11 January 2009 Posted 11 January 2009 I understand it was closed because with 85 posts there was concern that El Empty was going to have an illegal settlement in there.
BoneDog Posted 11 January 2009 Author Posted 11 January 2009 I like it, I like it. Can't someone get it reopened? I feel like we're in a dictatorship.

stez Posted 11 January 2009 Posted 11 January 2009 I like it, I like it.Can't someone get it reopened? I feel like we're in a dictatorship. you've gotta cget yourself an army, young man, but while the UN (mods and admin) are in charge of the isreal-thread strip you've got an up hill battle!
BoneDog Posted 11 January 2009 Author Posted 11 January 2009 I've all but gave up! I'm just gonna go and play Command and Conquer Red Alert 3 for a bit. But hopefully someone sees something on the news soon and starts another thread out of anguish.
James. Posted 11 January 2009 Posted 11 January 2009 Surely the only reasons for closure would be if it descended into personal, unnecessary insults or if there was peace and harmony in the region. I don't think either has happened. I knew little about the conflict before reading the thread, now I know more and given I'm going to Israel later this year I'd have been interested to see how the discussion developed in light of the inevitable future developments. Odd decision to close.

Daggers Posted 11 January 2009 Posted 11 January 2009 Odd decision to close. I think, based on personal experience, when you are volunteering your time to wade through threads in order to moderate them some threads get seriously tedious to moderate simply because you seem to be scanning the same posts making the same points over and over - no one says anything new, no one accepts anyone else's argument.

This, exactly. The person that closed it felt it was running in circles and nothing was really being discussed. I agree with them. If there's a developement in the News and people feel the need to re-open the thread then by all means make a new one discussing whatever's relevant at the time. But if it turns into the same boring, repetitive dross again then no doubt it'll go the same way. I'm all for a bit of intellectual debate but that's not really what the Israel thread became. Will happily let this thread run a natural course as long as it stays jovial, but if people start taking pot shots at each other or the moderators I'll be back to be a forum Nazi and stomp on it.

BoneDog Posted 11 January 2009 Author Posted 11 January 2009 Is it bad of me to think that that was going to be a pi$$-take!!? It wasn't a p*ss take, was a light hearted vid to try to say I want harmony like most of us as I thought some people were hinting that I had a problem with Jews! I see the thread has been re-opened with a changed title! Someones avin a laugh
BoneDog Posted 11 January 2009 Author Posted 11 January 2009 I got it wrong. Tread not re-opened it's a different one come back from the dead.

Odd decision to close. agreed , that's my opinion too ok there was quite a lot of repetition , but that's bound to happen in any long thread , as you say there was little or no personal abuse and most posters were putting forward good points that are not always obvious to the likes of me . and as you implied ,, it's a changing scenario
