Aleksandar Tunchev (Bulgarian: Александър Тунчев) (born 10 July 1981) is a Bulgarian footballer, currently playing for PFC CSKA Sofia as a defender. Sasho, as known to the fans is the current captain of the CSKA Sofia team. The inspirational strong central defender is a regular fixture in the Bulgarian national team and made his debut against Romania in a UEFA Euro 2008 qualifying match. He scored 1 goal against Luxemburg in a UEFA Euro 2008 qualifying match in Luxembourg. Tunchev is expected to move to a foreign league soon. There have been rumoured interest from Russian, German, English clubs and Paok Thessaloniki.

We were linked with alooooot of players last pre season and in January so lets wait and see, although this guy does sound half decent!

That's probably stretching the skills of the forum.

Before I went to Bulgaria I found it impossible to get hold of a language course and learned a little bit of Russian instead.

Trouble was, when I got there, all the restaurant waitresses had been learning English at school and wanted to practice and it was clear that no-one really fancied communicating in seriously imperfect Russian anyway

It wasn't that they appeared to hate the Russians. They still spend a lot of money in the country. It was just that Bulgaria had been a Soviet satellite for years - there's even a display of Russian armaments beside the beach in the Black Coast city of Varna - and they didn't particularly want to be reminded of the fact.

So it was English all the way.

Pity the media hasn't caught on! :englandsmile4wf::D

Perhaps he's my kind of defender! :D

Anyway if he does come what chance a revival in Kishishev's career? Kish fell off the radar at Leicester but whenever I watched him in the stiffs he seemed to have so much to offer.

He stood out in encouraging and directing the young players around him and I don't think it was any coincidence that the reserves picked up enormously after Christmas when Kishishev returned from his loan spell at Leeds and the Kaebi's and Djiziri's had been offloaded.

I even wondered at the time if a place could be found on the coaching staff for him but now we've dropped a division it is not impossible Pearson could get him into decent enough shape to get some service from him off the bench. Then again, he didn't make much impression at Leeds so perhaps I'm being optimistic. It's the new signings that's doing it. And the fact that the frienlies will soon be starting. :scarf:

I think if Clem and Oakley move he may well get a look in.

But would the captain of one of the best teams in Bulgaria come here?

Maybe would be a reason for Kish to stick around, maybe?
