Quick question. Anyone know what the correct term for a citizen of Leicester is, and how do you pronounce it? It's been bugging me for about half an hour and can't seem to find an answer anywhere on the web.

In Skegness we have the nickname of Chisit if that helps.

According to Wikipedia though, we're Leicesterians.

I knew about the chisit thing.

How would one pronounce Leicestrians?

Ly-sest-rians or Les-trians? The latter might be misconstrued as something else! :laugh:

Or just Chisits.

You're all Chisits.

After 8 years in Lincolnshire and having lost my Chisit accent but returned to Leicester, am I simply a Leicesterian or a Chisit Leicesterian? I'm confused. :blink:

So Leicestarian, kind of rhymes with barbarian?

Yup. Simple rule is Leicester = Leicesterian

Nottingham = Barbarian
