Daggers Posted 9 February 2009 Posted 9 February 2009 Leicester Council vacancies: www.leicester.gov.uk/jobs/ Has jobs in offices and jobs up trees. Seriously - fib a bit on the application because everyone else does it. If you don't you may not even get interviews...and find someone willing to do a reference and who would have the authority to verify it over the phone. Now where could you find someone prepared to lie like that?
CosbehFox Posted 9 February 2009 Posted 9 February 2009 Route AVolunteer. It doesn't impact on your benefits and it will help out a charity - I volunteered two half days per week for a subset of Mind, sorting computers and doing in-house training on basic MS packages to Mind clients looking at getting into the workplace. Not only will it make you feel great, you'll have time to do other p/t work if you fancy it and your boss will give you the mother of glowing references. If you have the time, this is most certainly the way forward. I did for a bit and it helped build my confidence and also the addition of a fresh reference was a handy bonus in securing my now full-time job.

Koke Posted 9 February 2009 Posted 9 February 2009 I'm seriously considering quitting my job. I've lost all desire and I don't enjoy coming to work any more. Every morning I dread waking up going to that place.

Every morning I dread waking up going to that place. I think I look a lot like you. If you pay me I'll do your job for you. They'll never notice.
Darkzzz_ Posted 10 February 2009 Posted 10 February 2009 I get paid £9 per hour to play FM and surf the internet. Do you want my job?
Finnegan Posted 10 February 2009 Author Posted 10 February 2009 I get paid £9 per hour to play FM and surf the internet.Do you want my job? Done. When do I start?
welck12 Posted 10 February 2009 Posted 10 February 2009 From someone whos worked in few offices and chops and changes every five mins, in my experience easiest way to get an office job is just fib a little bit on your cv and apply for temp office jobs with all the agencies. They normally take you on straight away if they have any temp positions and by the time the check (if they ever bother to do so) your past refs your usually working away and as long as you do some work and the employers are happy with you they dont care. 6 months later, you either have a perm job or the experience you need
Kilworthfox Posted 10 February 2009 Posted 10 February 2009 Because I know there's a few of you types floating around on here.Out of interest, how do you get 6 months office experience when every, single employer wants six months office experience before hiring? Is there such a thing as Entry Level anymore, and how the fook do you find it? Out of interest who said this too you as quite frankly it's bull shit that they say this to you. What Agencies did you gho to? Were any helpful???
Darkzzz_ Posted 10 February 2009 Posted 10 February 2009 Done. When do I start? You have to complete challenges to get this job. For example, you have to get Kettering Town to the CL final on FM within 1 season without cheating.
lildave3 Posted 10 February 2009 Posted 10 February 2009 Someone on here MUST be an electrician and need an apprentice. Surely.

Were any helpful??? I signed up to them all on the internet in the end. I have to be honest I didn't find any of them helpful at all in person - I gave up after Adecco, Brook Street, Manpower and a couple of other lesser known ones I can't remember. Will email you that CV tomorrow if you were actually serious btw.

I know you have been in retail previously, and could probably get a job in retail again. I know of a recruitment company who specialise in Retail and Sales Recruitment, they contact me a lot as they think the company I work for has shops (we don't)...they may have office stuff as well. Link
Finnegan Posted 10 February 2009 Author Posted 10 February 2009 I don't want to do retail. Retail work I can pretty much get myself, my CV is utter shit but I've been in retail since I could work either as sales assistants / CSRs or as supervisors / shift-runners. I refuse to do sales, point blank. I don't mind working in a mixed customer service / sales environment (have applied for a few incoming-calls call centers, yay, haha), but I'm not doing cold-calling or anything commission (sp?) based.
fox123 Posted 10 February 2009 Posted 10 February 2009 Stick a 'ski' on the end of your surname, you'll have a job in a warehouse no worries.
