JoeyB Posted 2 March 2009 Posted 2 March 2009 Nottingham Forest and Leicester City are fighting it out to take Aston Villa midfielder Isaiah Osbourne on loan.(Daily Mirror) Weren't we linked with him last season aswell? should be a decent player in the middle of midfield if we can get him.
Jimmy Posted 2 March 2009 Posted 2 March 2009 they only have a small squad though so will MoN let anyone leave?
JoeyB Posted 2 March 2009 Author Posted 2 March 2009 they only have a small squad though so will MoN let anyone leave? Well they are out of the FA cup and Europe and he has played 6 games so far this season (all in cups) so i think their could be a good chance we can get him.
JoeyB Posted 2 March 2009 Author Posted 2 March 2009 Have we room for any more loanees? I reckon we have, its just the fact that they are not all allowed in the Matchday squad. 5 Max iirc.
RedHux Posted 2 March 2009 Posted 2 March 2009 Can confirm this is true from our end. I reckon he'll go to you if anyone as you seem to be enjoying things more then us at present. Also we seem to offer absolutely no financial incentive for a team to loan t us. My only concern for you lot is that haven't got a few loanee and I think you can only name 5 in a matchday squad. ...anyway, we need him more then you lot atm. Our squad is hopelessly tiny.

I suppose the main incentive is the fact that one of your youngsters gets first team football. as much as i would like it i don't really know that much about him, is he a tenacious CM as i think that is what we are lacking, more than anything atm. Brown and Cleverly could be omited from the squad a bit easier than the likes of Hobbs, Martin and Gilbert i think.
CosbehFox Posted 2 March 2009 Posted 2 March 2009 Don't really approve of it tbh. We are nearly there and unless, it's got a permo deal at the end of it or someone's carrying an injury which requires an operation..what have we got to gain by having another loanee? Esp. when only 5 are allowed to play.
davieG Posted 2 March 2009 Posted 2 March 2009 I reckon we have, its just the fact that they are not all allowed in the Matchday squad.5 Max iirc. It is indeed 5 so with Martin, Hobbs, Gilbert, Cleverly, Brown already available and being used regularly I can't see where he's going to fit in, I doubt he'd come for the last dozen games unless he was at least on the bench.

I think the main thing is a bit of rotation, on saturday i thought a few people looked quiet tired, the likes of King and Oakly who have been ever present, and it would do them good to be able to have a game off. By bringing in a new face it will say to the players look your place isn't secured so you have to keep performing if you do want to play, although i wouldn't mind a few of our youngsters being placed into the squad slowly.
Sir Fynwy Posted 2 March 2009 Posted 2 March 2009 It is indeed 5 so with Martin, Hobbs, Gilbert, Cleverly, Brown already available and being used regularly I can't see where he's going to fit in, I doubt he'd come for the last dozen games unless he was at least on the bench. I agree can't see any team loaning us players for our reserves, we are already up to the limit on loans in the squad so can't see anyone else coming in now, the reason we have had good loan players this season is that we play them, the clubs that own them see a development value in letting us have them.

Brown and Cleverly could be omited from the squad a bit easier than the likes of Hobbs, Martin and Gilbert i think. We've only got youngsters! Although the one area of our team that we seem to have enough of is CM. Moussi (albeit a bit injured), perch, Mcgugan, cohen, thornhill of the top of my head. As far as I know hes could be that tenacious CM although I've heard he might be cover/competition for McGugan who's an attacking mid. So not sure really.

But if you rest King or Oakley to play him you've got to take out one of the other loanees.
JoeyB Posted 2 March 2009 Author Posted 2 March 2009 But if you rest King or Oakley to play him you've got to take out one of the other loanees. Forgot that one. I suppose you could drop brown and put morrison in, as i thought the Morrison Hobbs partnership was a good one. Martin Hobbs Gilbert Brown Cleverly. Osbourne.
davieG Posted 2 March 2009 Posted 2 March 2009 Forgot that one. I suppose you could drop brown and put morrison in, as i thought the Morrison Hobbs partnership was a good one. Martin Hobbs Gilbert Brown Cleverly. Osbourne. I to prefer Morrison to Brown, who I thought was appalling on Saturday, but maybe he was carrying an injury
Hitesh Posted 2 March 2009 Posted 2 March 2009 Doubt anything will happen on this - we don't need him and as said already, we have too man loanees!
JoeyB Posted 2 March 2009 Author Posted 2 March 2009 I to prefer Morrison to Brown, who I thought was appalling on Saturday, but maybe he was carrying an injury Yeah i liek Morrison, have done since the start, if he can learn to pass it out a bit more instead of HOOF, he'll be a good player.
davieG Posted 2 March 2009 Posted 2 March 2009 Yeah i liek Morrison, have done since the start, if he can learn to pass it out a bit more instead of HOOF, he'll be a good player. Even his hoofs tend to have purpose to them, mostly out to the wide players but yes some more intelligent shorter passing would improve his game and the teams. That goes for a lot of players, especially the goalkeepers who all start off passing it but with each subsequent game kick it more and more.
Jimmy Posted 2 March 2009 Posted 2 March 2009 Have we room for any more loanees? we can loan more but 1 would have to miss out on the match day squad
Nick Posted 2 March 2009 Posted 2 March 2009 we can loan more but 1 would have to miss out on the match day squad I suspect that if we are looking it is with a view to next season and that the club intends selling a midfield player or negotiations to sign a current loan player have failed. I suspect it's Cleverley as he has been in the centre as Oakley said he is more, 'natural there' so he has been on the right. Personally I would like to see Cleverley stay and grow with the team but I think other clubs will come in for him if Man U don't have him back. Just a thought based on the circumstances.
Libertine Posted 2 March 2009 Posted 2 March 2009 We weren't just linked with him, we had him. For about one training session, then MON recalled him.
Bert Posted 2 March 2009 Posted 2 March 2009 We weren't just linked with him, we had him.For about one training session, then MON recalled him. We never had him. He trained with us, with a view to a one-month loan deal, then MON re-called him.

bluebeau Posted 2 March 2009 Posted 2 March 2009 Weren't we linked with him last season aswell?should be a decent player in the middle of midfield if we can get him. Yes we did try to take him on loan last season. It dragged on a bit & then Martin O'Neil decided he couldn't come to us 'cos of injury situation at Villa. Obviously someone at City rates the guy if it's true that we are back in for him. IMO we could return Cleverly & Brown back to their respective clubs, don't think either of them have lived up to expectations?
