barmy76uk Posted 4 March 2009 Posted 4 March 2009 If so why don't we try our young lads out insted of everyone elses? Im not impressed with Cleverley nor Gilbert and i believe Hobbs is very clumsy! And also Dyer is Dire.. Why arent we giving one or two of our lads a chance to shine in the first team? We have Chambers,Key,Sappleton,King,John,Gradel etc yet none of these are getting a chance, why not? If Pearson isn't willing to try them this year in league 1,what chance do they have next year?4 draws on the trot at home is just not good enough?
MPH Posted 4 March 2009 Posted 4 March 2009 if you think man utd, arsenal, or liverpool youngsters are not good enough then ours sure as hell wont be good enough for you.
BoneDog Posted 4 March 2009 Posted 4 March 2009 Maybe some of the young uns will get a chance in the last few games of the season if we're promoted with 4 or 5 games left.

Mark Posted 4 March 2009 Posted 4 March 2009 i think that will very much be the case Unless MK Don's have caught us up, in which case it will probably be avoided once more.

I don't think anyone would claim our youth team is currently one of the best in the country. And, although I'm known to be supportive of our youth players there are only two Academy or ex-Academy players who are not currently in the first team and yet are good enough - Gradel and Porter. I've said many times, I don't think any of our home-grown youngsters have been developed noticeably this season and that even includes Andy King who can play far better than he's playing at the moment if you put some pass-and-move footballers around him and people who can drive themselves forward with attitude. Gradel, Porter, Chambers have all had a wasted year so far, the first two for reasons only the manager seems to know. Our lack of a reserve team hasn't helped, as some of us always knew would be the case, but neither has the seemingly blinkered attitude that seems to prevail within our club right now whereby we rarely give any young players the chance of gaining valuable experience be coming off the bench. I don't believe Wesolowski will ever play for Leicester again. A few players like Odhiambo, Cox, and Beswick are, or have been, out on loan but there's been no indication whatsoeever that they are contenders for a future first team place and, in any case, they featured very little before they were loaned out and have therefore had little chance to progress. That leaves Logan (reportedly not favoured by the management), plus perhaps three players, Pentney, O'Neill, and Craig King as the only others who have featured in a first team squad but who, again, seem to have made little progress since this time last year. I'm quite sure Babylon will be able to put a positive slant on that, if only to point out the wonderful job our endless succession of loanees have done, the very loanees I promised pre-season that we would use in abundance. Each of our fans, of course, have their own reasons for supporting City and their own views on what they expect. But me, I've been thoroughly disappointed with our lack of progress as a team since January. But, while so many parts of our team are malfunctioning I've seen no signs of Pearson fixing them.

No love for Chambers? Looks a very positive player who fills a niche we don't seem to have other options in - was a great sub at Palace, suprised that was it to be honest.

Unless there's another King I've forgetten..?

potter3 Posted 4 March 2009 Posted 4 March 2009 He might be on about Craig King? I knew there was another King
Dan Posted 4 March 2009 Posted 4 March 2009 Why the hell not? Against Brighton, Swindon, Oldham and Stockport in which most teams are capable of beating at home, its not good enough, I would say the overall season home form has been brilliant but the last 4 games weve not just taken a bad result weve looked nothing like top of the league.
Guest Posted 4 March 2009 Posted 4 March 2009 He might be on about Craig King? He got a run out in one of the JPT games didn't he if I remember correctly? Guaranteed it was not a long time on the pitch
BlabyFox Posted 4 March 2009 Posted 4 March 2009 Why the hell not? because we can still be caught and drawing isn't good enough?
Dan Posted 4 March 2009 Posted 4 March 2009 because we can still be caught and drawing isn't good enough? spot on

Thracian Posted 5 March 2009 Posted 5 March 2009 No love for Chambers? Looks a very positive player who fills a niche we don't seem to have other options in - was a great sub at Palace, suprised that was it to be honest. I've nothing against Chambers as such and he has looked a genuinely promising prospect at times. But, and for whatever reasons, how long is it since he had a genuine run of testing matches? Three or four years? Just like Gradel, it is no use giving the lad occasional fleeting cameos. Development and involvement needs to be increased steadily. I well understand our principal target and had we retained th likes of Campbell and had a brilliant group of eager and talented understudies chomping at the first team bit I might have understood the lack of opportunity. But when I see that our bench so often offers even less energy than the flat batteries we have on the pitch to begin with I just shake my head and wonder at the apparent lack of forward thinking.
dhermon Posted 5 March 2009 Posted 5 March 2009 What about the other young lad who seemed to be on the radar at the start of the season but has dropped off was it Luke O'Neil played right back
