Thracian Posted 8 March 2009 Posted 8 March 2009 If people want to go watch FC United, it doesn't bother me. Personally, if I'm going to a football match, 99% of the time, it's going to be watching Leicester. Just because other people don't choose to do this, their loyalty to our club shouldn't be questioned, especially as the people who will go to this kind of game, are generally, the ones who go to as many away games as they can, and try to create a good atmosphere. I'll also say, if said person misses one match, to go and watch for example FC united, I can bet that they'll have been to a lot more games than most other "fans" have been in the season. Every person is different and will choose what they want to do. There's some good lads on here, who want to do what they believe is right for football, and I can't respect them enough for that. I'm all for having safe standing areas to create a better atmosphere etc. You can sit down at home for free, you can go and sit in a library for free, but at football, I believe you should have the choice whether you want to stand or not, especailly as you've paid with your own, hard-earnt money. There's nothing worse than being told what to do by some jobsworth ****, especially when at one of your hobbies. The only thing that gets me, is when people talk about clubs not being "original" yet, they go and rip off the original of the/a song that's been created by someone else's supporters. There's no denying that these songs are all brilliant, which obviously, is why people want to sing them at their club. Saying this we've got a few songs that we've nicked, but changed the words that I join with. That sounds hypocritical, but I want to help create a good atmosphere when I'm watching the team, and the only way I can do that, is to start, or join in with what's being sung. Singing songs about other clubs (Non-banter) when you're at a totally different game is not on though. Some interesting points. One of the best fans I know is a former teacher who goes to a different ground in differents part of the country almost every week. And not all of them Football League or Premiership matches either. He was brought up in the Black Country supporting Wolves, now lives in Leicester and travels by public transport to places like Histon, Ebbsfleet and Blyth Spartans constantly adding to his encyclopaedic knowledge about the game, the players and the history of clubs' different grounds. In between he watches other sporting events, everything from horse racing (he doesn't bet) to Speedway, again travelling far and wide. I often wonder how he'd get on facing the questions of Mastermind.
Fosse Boy Posted 15 April 2010 Posted 15 April 2010 Looks like they're making serious steps now towards building their own stadium according to their OS. Good luck to 'em, they're the model by which every club should be run.
purpleronnie Posted 15 April 2010 Posted 15 April 2010 I think they need one, attendances have fallen and they are finding the step up to Unibond Prem pretty tough, a new stadium would really give them a massive boost.
The Doctor Posted 15 April 2010 Posted 15 April 2010 i still don't understand why these lot were formed. If you don't like what's going on at your club then why not support a different local club (for them that would probably be rochdale, bury, stockport etc) and help a different clubs coffers out?
dimmerchant Posted 15 April 2010 Posted 15 April 2010 Fryatt wasn't really injured, just been playing CB for FCUM with a clever disguise of blonde hair.

Because it wouldn't have been there's. Plus its pretty meaningless to take over another club, because thats the reason FC were set up in the first place. They wanted their own clubs and own rules, a member owned democratic, not-for-profit organisation .
Fosse Fox Posted 15 April 2010 Posted 15 April 2010 i still don't understand why these lot were formed. If you don't like what's going on at your club then why not support a different local club (for them that would probably be rochdale, bury, stockport etc) and help a different clubs coffers out? Because football fans by definition are emotional, not rational beings. Because most football fans are glory seekers. And because in this case many Manchester United fans are Amerophobic. Very few Man U fans actually failed to renew their season tickets when the Glazers took over (about 270). The organisers of the protests completely fudged the issue of match boycotts by stating that fans could support the campaign virtually in any way they wanted to. It would have been very interesting to see how the Glazers would have reacted if a strict boycott had been observed and Old Trafford was half empty for half the season. The only boycott that was reasonably well observed was that of domestic merchandise. However the Glazers eventually won that one by suckering in practically every Man U fan intro buying the Newton Heath colours (I rekon they must have trousered a cool £1 million from that little scam) - football fans can be such ******. But there again so can the pundits. What are the Red Knights but The Glazers 'Get out of Jail With a Fortune' card? Doesn't it occur to these thicko's that all the rat Yanks (Gillett, Hicks, Kronke) are getting ready to leave the sinking in debt ship that is the Premier League?
iBleedLeicesterColours Posted 15 April 2010 Posted 15 April 2010 If I do/don't wanna sing or support FCUM then why would I let an idiot like you influence me ? Awful thread.
Podge Posted 16 April 2010 Posted 16 April 2010 I hate FCUM's fans, I really do. They came to my town Tamworth for a friendly and they were just scum pure and simple. Tired to start fights, snorting coke in the bogs and just giving general abuse to Tamworth fans in the ground. Bunch of self-involved w*nks.
Finnegan Posted 16 April 2010 Posted 16 April 2010 they're the model by which every club should be run. Pfttttttt!
Shrenchel Posted 16 April 2010 Posted 16 April 2010 Pfttttttt! FC United are playing them in a friendly in May. Real recognise real.
Finnegan Posted 16 April 2010 Posted 16 April 2010 FC United are playing them in a friendly in May. Real recognise real. Let's hope it's a good way to celebrate Sankt Pauli's promotion!
Fosse Boy Posted 16 April 2010 Posted 16 April 2010 Pfttttttt! Gay anarchist owners would be the next step up I feel. Pauli v FCUM friendly.

Finnegan Posted 16 April 2010 Posted 16 April 2010 They should do as leciester do, sit down with a nice flask of tea. Much better. You can be a good, vocal, edgey set of fans without doing the things he mentioned above. Granted he might be giving an incredibly unfair and biased account. But if they were jackasses they were jackasses.

Granted he might be giving an incredibly unfair and biased account. But if they were jackasses they were jackasses. I can only judge by what went on when they came to town, and it disgusted me and scared my little brother who was only 10 at the time. I admit from what I see on youtube their support seems vocal and passionate, in good ways. It seemed when they came down here, to me, that a lot of the fans at the lamb were the kind of fans who were banned from following Man Ure in the '80s. I do realise that might not the be the best situation to judge them on but it wasn't a great impression.

Wymsey Posted 7 November 2010 Posted 7 November 2010 I hope they get a good cup run. I am fascinated by how the club was set up by the fans (and controlled by them as well)
