StanSP Posted 7 March 2009 Posted 7 March 2009 What's the worst sporting injury you've had or seen or heard of? Making this thread because some kid at my school broke his ankle just by putting some skiing boots on and then falling a down the mountain breaking his wrist in the process afterwards. And that was on his first day of going so that ruined his holiday! The worst one I've had is tearing ligaments in my ankle 10 minutes into a football match, and that was after making a rush to get there on time! EDIT: Try not to make them ones you have seen on TV - we have probably all seen them! And say how you got the injury if you can bear picturing and reliving the pain again!
SOCCERROO FOX Posted 7 March 2009 Posted 7 March 2009 A few boxers have died inside the ring in the past.
StanSP Posted 7 March 2009 Author Posted 7 March 2009 David Bust or whatever his name was . The guy against Man Utd playing for Coventry I think..
Part Of The Crowd Posted 7 March 2009 Posted 7 March 2009 Well, there was that guy who had a seizure halfway through a match then got up and carried on
Bert Posted 7 March 2009 Posted 7 March 2009 My worst injury, is snapped ankle ligaments. Fook, that hurts.
StanSP Posted 7 March 2009 Author Posted 7 March 2009 My worst injury, is snapped ankle ligaments. Fook, that hurts. I thought my incomplete tear of ligaments was bad!! Can't imagine what it would be like to snap them fully.
Simi Posted 7 March 2009 Posted 7 March 2009 Breaking my 4th metatarsal. Went in goal for one match as we had no keeper. Broke my finger in the warm up but carried on and then ended up breaking my leg in the first half. Very, very painful.

SOCCERROO FOX Posted 7 March 2009 Posted 7 March 2009 Broke two bones in my foot when i rolled my foot on an uneven surface whilst running. In AFL got knocked out, was out for about 5 seconds then i just shook it off and kept playing. But the most painfull was doing my hip flexor coulddn't move walk for ages
ronnup Posted 7 March 2009 Posted 7 March 2009 Dislocated both legs at the hip playing football. did a shit Croyff turn and my foot went into a divit. One popped out then the fact that I was stood on one leg meant i toppled left and the other popped out. Passed out shortly after. Ten days in the general mostly in traction. Ouch.
dandannieldanok Posted 7 March 2009 Posted 7 March 2009 David Bust or whatever his name was . That was horrible, didn't Peter Schmeichel be sick behind the goal or something having seen it?

You might wanna practice those Cruyff turns on flat ground . You still playing?
Part Of The Crowd Posted 7 March 2009 Posted 7 March 2009 Breaking my 4th metatarsal. The bruises on my hands from the crutches they made me use hurt more than the actual injury there! Two worst injuries i've witnessed at a football match would be Stephen Brogan who went into a tackle with our keeper and broke his leg in three places, our goalkeeper immediately called the referee to stop it and was completely devastated afterwards, perhaps that is why Rotherham managed to score past him! Matt Murray for Hereford, pretty much same place as Brogan's injury, went to kick the ball, seemed to slip, que the 'wheeey's'. When he stayed on the floor rolling in agony writhing in pain it was plain it wasn't good, the boy may never play football again with massive ligament injuries in his knee.

Was he the Wolves keeper at one stage?? It's really bad when they may not play again. Having to quit what you love can never be good.
Shrenchel Posted 7 March 2009 Posted 7 March 2009 Quite a few years back we were playing five a side at one of those centres with fook loads of pitches, organised leagues and that. One of my mates smashed the ball and it went out of the whole place into the field next door. The ref made him climb over one of these to get it: He got a spike in either leg. Still hadn't been able to play football again by the time we lost contact.

Was he not the Wolves goalie? I remember him being so talented but just so injury prone.
Tevez Posted 8 March 2009 Posted 8 March 2009 I have done a few injuries. Worst was dislocating my thumb in my Year 9 League Cup Final, worst pain in the world and I had to carry on playing. Was sick at half time through the pain. Braved it out didnt I. Doing my wrist at the Long Jump was another low point in my career, snapped the ligaments and tissue in my wrist was out for 3 weeks. Then I had a blow to the head of Rob Maybury in a Aths v Parva friendly in July, had to come off so I hit the showers ealry, only to faint in them because of the blow, still got a dent in my eyebrow because of it. Thanks Rob. Sozza this is Uncle Albert.
AmericanScott Posted 8 March 2009 Posted 8 March 2009 A few years back i threw a wet basketball up into the air and misjudged the catch. It hit my middle finger dead on and broke the top bit. Now, when i put my middle finger out, the top is slightly bent. It's pretty cool.
