Guest Bilo Posted 8 March 2009 Posted 8 March 2009 Is that real?!?! Sadly yes. This isn't for the faint hearted by the way.
martyn Posted 8 March 2009 Posted 8 March 2009 Ruptured 2 ligaments in my left knee (Anterior Cruciate and Lateral Colatteral) in October. Dont know if ill be able to play football again.
lcfc_jme Posted 8 March 2009 Posted 8 March 2009 I've had sh!t loads of them but probably the worst 2 are breaking my leg in pre-season a couple of seasons back (still not fully recovered from that, I don't think) and ripping the ligaments and tendons in my ankle. Both were painful as ****, both still affect me in different ways. Tried to get up and walk after doing my ankle, which probably made things a whole lot worse.
Koke Posted 8 March 2009 Posted 8 March 2009 The worst I've had was when I had a clash of heads with another player, and I was unconscious for God knows how long. Blood was streaming out of my head and I eventually needed several stitches just above my right eye. For weeks I had severe headaches - It happened back in 2001 and I was only 17 but I still hesitate and think twice before jumping up for a header, even now.
SpoonyMcjefferson Posted 8 March 2009 Posted 8 March 2009 Aids. Pfft. At least aids is enjoyable to catch.
Cobbo Posted 8 March 2009 Posted 8 March 2009 My own worst is breaking and dislocating my left ankle. Won a big header and when I landed (foot was at an angle) snap. I was looking down at it to see where I was landing too so knew what had happened...not fully recovered and never will. Sadly has affected my game somewhat. Worst I have heard about was during a football match. A played had dislocated his hip playing, when the physio came on he obviously realised this and popped it back in (I think at this point, it is painful enough)... The physio popped it back in, not realising one of the players testicles had become lodged in the dislocation and thusly crushed it. Ouch.
StanSP Posted 8 March 2009 Author Posted 8 March 2009 Sadly yes. This isn't for the faint hearted by the way. I love how he goes over to the coach area to have a go and get all angry! Did he recover from that?
Ultra Posted 9 March 2009 Posted 9 March 2009 That was horrible, didn't Peter Schmeichel be sick behind the goal or something having seen it? Yep. Apparently he also needed counselling afterwards. More recently, the Eduardo injury is as bad as I've ever seen. The worst injury I've seen live was Ian Selley for Arsenal against us in 1995. Iwan Roberts tackled him (50-50 ball) and the sound of his leg breaking could be hears all around the stadium. I don't think he ever played for the gooners again..
Finnegan Posted 9 March 2009 Posted 9 March 2009 Bit surprised, being a local lad, there's not a mention of Matt Hampson yet on here. Didn't happen in the public eye but I think he's far worse off than mostly everyone else listed here so far. Could have died.
welck12 Posted 9 March 2009 Posted 9 March 2009 A few years back i threw a wet basketball up into the air and misjudged the catch. It hit my middle finger dead on and broke the top bit. Now, when i put my middle finger out, the top is slightly bent. It's pretty cool. I've done that numerous times, i have 4 of my fingers that arent straight anymore because of playing basketball so much. One of the worst injuries i have ever seen was my fault. Playing basketball the guy was about to go for a rebound and i did the old trick of standing on his foot to stop him jumping. Only problem was that my teammate had the same idea, and when he jumped he managed to dislocate his ankle (the one i was standing on)

Talking of testicles (yes I could have put that better), I know a guy who used to go to my school who had a terrible biking accident. He fell off his bike, and the way he fell, one of his balls must have got trapped somewhere on the bike - I'm guessing to do with the chain and the wheels. He now only has one meat and one veg.
Fox92 Posted 10 March 2009 Posted 10 March 2009 If it counts, didn't someone miss a penelty for Iraq or something and the prime minister shot him? Dunno if anyone else heard that?
