cisono Posted 11 March 2009 Posted 11 March 2009 Earlier, I looked at my phone and it said "Inactive SIM". As I don't have a new SIM or phone, this was a worrying development. It then occurred to me that I had ordered a new phone on contract last week, though I had since cancelled the order - and (I assumed!) the number porting. However, it looks as if the number porting has gone through anyway. So it seems as if Vodafone have managed to port MY number to some random SIM in their warehouse. They have managed to steal my number and left me with no way to make or receive calls. Clever. And what the hell do I do now? This has been my business number for the last 5-6 years as well

cisono Posted 12 March 2009 Author Posted 12 March 2009 Issue County Court proceedings and sue for loss of earnings based on negligence, you'll win and not have to pay a dime! Argh. Spent 45 minutes on the phone this morning. After talking to 4 different departments (and being cut off once), I now have to go into a Vodafone shop in town, get a contract SIM, get them to activate it and also request my PAC code at the same time. They get my line rental for the next few days (what? I have to pay them?), though - under pressure - she did offer me a £10 off calls as a goodwill gesture. The alternative: I am without a working phone line (and certainly without my number) for days. I really don't fancy going into town with my headache but don't see a choice. Also, I am now more determined than ever that I don't want to be on vodafone... (or is it just vodafone business that is so unreliable?)
James. Posted 12 March 2009 Posted 12 March 2009 Vodafone are ace. I agree. Apart from when they overcharged me for a year and then tried to blame me for it. Nobs. And I've had loads of issues with their customer services department over the last 7 years or however long I've been with them. That said they treat me well most of the time, give me good contracts and nice phones. They'll also bung you a tenner if you moan about them which can't be bad. I was watching the Man United game on my N96 last night for free. I'm ****ing cool.

Dr The Singh Posted 12 March 2009 Posted 12 March 2009 Bloody Islamic SIM cards. I think it's time for a protest!!
Babylon Posted 12 March 2009 Posted 12 March 2009 I think it's time for a protest!! VODAFONE are rapist baby killers.... booooooo!!!
cisono Posted 12 March 2009 Author Posted 12 March 2009 I think it's time for a protest!! Been to tow, got myself a vodafone SIM, got connected and first call I made was to the disconnection team: can I please have my PAC code? Waste of a morning. Actually, it gets even more interesting. I requested my PAC code but apparently I haven't been given my correct number yet so... a) I don't know what number I am on b) it is not MY number, so my customers cannot contact me c) the PAC code will be for the wrong number d) vodafone customer services cannot help at the moment due to a system upgrade (in the middle of the day? Weird!) e) I am currently on an expensive 24-month contract with vodafone but without getting my expensive phone (which was the only reason I had originally decided to join them, though I had fully cancelled my ordered afterwards). Mind boggling.
Finnegan Posted 12 March 2009 Posted 12 March 2009 I'm told that on 3, for £15 a month you get 500 anytime, any network minutes with a free SonyEricsson. You should give that a look.

I AM trying to get away... really, I am! ARGH I now have my mobile number (according to my phone and vodafone customer services) only... cannot call my mobile or send myself an SMS.
Zingari Posted 12 March 2009 Posted 12 March 2009 if women could stop dithering, and make up their minds and stick to it , these things wouldn't happen
cisono Posted 12 March 2009 Author Posted 12 March 2009 I can barely wait for the next update. Nothing to update. Still got a phone that cannot receive texts or calls. Wonder how many customers I've lost or annoyed due to this.
cisono Posted 12 March 2009 Author Posted 12 March 2009 if women could stop dithering, and make up their minds and stick to it , these things wouldn't happen the phone's colour and style did not match my clothing that day Seriously, they screwed up badly!!! And they don't seem half as apologetic as they ought to be
cisono Posted 14 March 2009 Author Posted 14 March 2009 Today, the vodafone customer services lady I talked to blamed T-Mobile for not sending half of the files over. This is why - she said - I could make calls but not receive them or get texts. I asked the annoyed lady if I could do anything to speed up the process, like ringing T-Mobile. She just shouted back "NO. You cannot do anything. T-Mobile messed up and we now have to wait". She also said that I could still receive calls on my old SIM, but this turned out to be incorrect (as suspected). Still, a few hours later, I thought I'd give that a try. I got talking to this pleasant northern girl working in the customer care dept of T-Mobile (TPH/James would have a field day if he met her ). She offered to investigate for me. She talked to other departments for me (though she only took 3 minutes in all), tracked a call to my mobile, found the problem and fixed the routing. It only took her 10 or 15 minutes (after nearly 2 days of downtime), we then spent another 20 minutes chatting about porting numbers, who has the best customer services and the best mobile phones. The strange thing is this: I am currently a vodafone customer but only one or two of the vodafone customer services people I talked to (out of the many, mostly in the business side) sounded even mildly interested in helping me and several shouted at me (I had not raised my voice). While it MIGHT even be true that technically vodafone were not given some of the data they needed, the way they behaved towards me did not make me feel very valued. On the other hand, the T-Mobile lady was very helpful, did not blame or comment on accusations or anything, just got to the root of the problem and sorted it out promptly and in an extremely polite and pleasant way. At this point, I don't even care who is right or wrong. All I know is this: I am not likely to ever sign up a contract with vodafone in the future. My view at the moment... Orange: best phones Generally seamless/efficient operation Don't like the accent of many of the customer services staff Totally dislike their upgrades dept Orange wednesdays Signal generally ok T-Mobile: Not great signal (but enough to use the phone) They do not always offer the phones I am after Great customer services Cheapest for calls Free calls to several 08 numbers (like AA, RAC, Green Flag or childline) They have always made me feel valued, even their disconnection dept! You have a lot of time (3 months?) to port your number to your new T-Mobile contract Vodafone: They force you to give them your PAC code when placing your order (contract) They "steal" your mobile number (consequence of previous point) Customer services is bad (except odd individual here and there) Vodafone business to be avoided at all costs -> costly to businesses Great signal strength They do not make you feel like a valued customer
