davieG Posted 17 March 2009 Author Posted 17 March 2009 Mattock also rumoured to have been called up!
Jimmy Posted 17 March 2009 Posted 17 March 2009 If King is called up by Wales as well I guess we'll be having another game called off
Corky Posted 17 March 2009 Posted 17 March 2009 Surely he could play for us on the Saturday then go and join up with them, considering the match isn't until Tuesday?
Tilley Posted 17 March 2009 Posted 17 March 2009 Surely he could play for us on the Saturday then go and join up with them, considering the match isn't until Tuesday? You'd think so tbh.
C-man Posted 17 March 2009 Posted 17 March 2009 Surely he could play for us on the Saturday then go and join up with them, considering the match isn't until Tuesday? Yeah I'm pretty sure can play for us against Peterborough. If Mattock's been called up for our Saturday game, is there a dilemma? Does he play a friendly for England or what could be the most important game of the season?

It's a tough one.

C-man Posted 17 March 2009 Posted 17 March 2009 Surely that is the same dilemma King is facing?Peterborough or Luxembourg?! Not quite because that's a qualifier. If you turn down a qualifier you're almost certainly ruling out playing for your country again. EDIT: I do see what you're saying though, it does seem quite farcical.
maddog Posted 17 March 2009 Posted 17 March 2009 We have enough players in our squad to cope with losing Mattock, King and Cleverly. The team with those 3 out could be this for instance: Warner Gilbert Hobbs Morrison Powell Gradel Oakley Berner Dyer Fryatt Hayles Bench: Chambers, Pentney, Adams, Kisnorbo, Dickov. They better not call another game off!
Jimmy Posted 17 March 2009 Posted 17 March 2009 Adams is out on loan and we don't know if it will be renewed
Bert Posted 17 March 2009 Posted 17 March 2009 Not sure when Adams loan expires. I'd expect him to stay out for the rest of the season now.
Daggers Posted 17 March 2009 Posted 17 March 2009 I paid £29 for my train ticket. If this gets postponed I am going to spit.

Loosing mattock wouldnt be the end of the world as long as pearce can guarantee that he will defianatly play a part in the game i think powell or berner are both up to the job
RowlattsFox Posted 18 March 2009 Posted 18 March 2009 Didn't someone say yesterday that Cleverley doesn't count because he's not our player, so the game won't be postponed, and he should be able to play for us on the Saturday anyway if the under 20 game is on Tuesday.
davieG Posted 20 March 2009 Author Posted 20 March 2009 From the Mock. On-loan Tom Cleverley admits he owes a big debt of gratitude to Leicester City for his first England call. The 19-year-old has been selected for the Under-20 squad. He feels it is an honour that would have been unlikely to come his way if he had not seen so much first-team action for the League One pace-setters rather than languishing in Manchester United's Reserves. Cleverley said: "The game is in Italy at the end of the month. "It is my first call, and it is nice to know someone has been watching and seeing what I have been achieving. TIN.adverts.addToArray('article-detail-impact-tile', 'AAMSZ=452x118/POS='); "Everyone sees what you are doing here – 20,000 people, scouts and so on – and you are in the limelight with a big club like Leicester with a winning team. I don't think it would have been the same if I was still in United's reserves." Cleverley has repaid a lot of that debt already with some fine performances. And he has recently staked a big claim to the right-wing berth for the remainder of the run-in. He now looks settled there and said: "I am enjoying it, especially being back in the team which ups the spirits. There are big differences between this and second-team football. Reserve-games are more about performance, but here it is about results. "I am learning maturity, getting good experience and picking up how to do things to win – maybe not the best thing to watch, but the right thing to win the game. "It is toughening me up as well, playing against men, and I am sure that will be a good aspect to my game. I am getting to grips with the physical nature of the game, adapting to challenges and handing them out as well." As a big United fan, Cleverley has more than a casual eye on how they are doing in the chase for honours. But he makes no bones about wanting some silverware in the shape of the League One trophy. That 1-0 win at Millwall last Saturday was a big step towards that and he said: "Hopefully, I can get a medal myself to take back with me. "The Millwall result caused a great buzz in the dressing-room. It was against a good side who then beat MK Dons in their next game. "I enjoyed the hostile atmosphere, the first time I got real stick, being out on the wing, and I thrived on it by answering the fans back, which we all did. "Hopefully I can keep my place to the end of the season."
Lillehamring Posted 20 March 2009 Posted 20 March 2009 CLeverley in the mercury sounds like he has his heart set on going back to MU - sounded like he was saying to ferguson, 'see, i'm ready now!'
Guest Basildon Fox Posted 20 March 2009 Posted 20 March 2009 sounds like he has his heart set on going back to MU - sounded like he was saying to ferguson, 'see, i'm ready now!' It is more than likely that he will be back here next season on a season long loan if anything. I doubt if Fergie would be ready to sell a 19 year old and he is no where near Prem quality at the moment so as he already knows the set up would be convenient for everyone.
davieG Posted 20 March 2009 Author Posted 20 March 2009 On the other hand two posts from FrankieWortho on Bentleys. In reply to this article posted on there. the email i have for my daughter from him said given the chance he would consider staying my young daughter emailed tom with some questions for her school project on LCFC and bless him a few days later he had answered the lot for her, made her day, in the days of over paid players its good to know that some still have time for the kids.
