bluebeau Posted 17 March 2009 Posted 17 March 2009 It's good to have Patrick Kisnorbo back in contention for a place in the City team. I can't understand why people on this forum have a go at him. Correct me if I am wrong, but I reckon last season he was MOTM more than any other player. He came through last season with credit, unlike most of the squad. He doesn't fit in as a midfield player, but as a central defender I think he could cut it in the Premiership, let alone the Championship. I hope that he figures in Nigel Pearsons plans for next season. Someone on the forum ( knowitall? ) said that he will be released at the end of this season, I hope this is not true. What's your opinion of Kiso?

Bert Posted 17 March 2009 Posted 17 March 2009 credibility lost there, hasn't got the pace to cut it in the prem Andy O'Brien. Matt Elliott. Gerry Taggart. These 3 all had a distinct lack of pace and one of them is still playing in the top flight now, the other two did for a good few years. Kisnorbo is faster than all 3 of these when they were in their prime. FACT.
Flynny Posted 17 March 2009 Posted 17 March 2009 I really hope we keep him and teach him to pass a bit next season. He could deffo cut it in the Championship. "Could"??
Bert Posted 17 March 2009 Posted 17 March 2009 99.5% he's gone btw. He might talk in the papers about how if we're up, we want to push on to the premiership, but it's highly likely we'll be doing so without him.

unreachable Posted 17 March 2009 Posted 17 March 2009 He's a good header and hoofer but is too inclined to manhandle and shirt pull for my liking - hence bookings sending offs and penalties

Bert Posted 17 March 2009 Posted 17 March 2009 can't speak for O'Brien but Elliott and Taggart were twice the player Kisnorbo is Where did I say Kisnorbo was better? You claimed he wouldn't cut it in the premiership due to his lack of pace. My argument was that just because you're not quick, it doesn't mean that you can't cut in the prem, which in a way, you've contradicted yourself as we both know that Elliott and Taggart weren't fast, yet they cut it in the premiership.
Jimmy Posted 17 March 2009 Posted 17 March 2009 Is this because we're signing Hobbs and they're very similar players? seems like he won't sign a new deal, so either he thinks he's too good to play for us or as the rumour says he wants to go back to Oz to play in their A-League

Why did they "cut it" in the Premiership - I thought we got relegated with them playing in the team
Bert Posted 17 March 2009 Posted 17 March 2009 Is this because we're signing Hobbs and they're very similar players? Can't really say I know what's going on with Hobbs, although Knowitall has seemed to indicate he'll be on his way here. But NP has told Kisnorbo he doesn't feature in his plans, and Kisnorbo has said himself he'll be gone at the end of the season. If we sign Hobbs, our centre back pairing next season, I imagine will be Tunchev and Hobbs. That would leave Morrison, and Kisnorbo isn't going to want to stay here being 3rd, possibly 4th choice centre back when he could be getting first team football elsewhere.

I don't think Hobbs is any better or worse than Kisnorbo particularly, but it's a shame to lose players that have been at the club a reasonable length of time. Is he our longest serving player now?

We both know that you don't like Kisnorbo. But when you get proved wrong, you have to go and change what you say so you don't come out looking like a numpty. If you're wrong you'll never admit it. Why did they "cut it" in the Premiership - I thought we got relegated with them playing in the team What about all the season's before?

Jimmy Posted 17 March 2009 Posted 17 March 2009 It's not his hoofing i have a major problem with, its the fact he can't mark a player without trying to wrestle with him, which leads to yellow and red cars and penalties, if he hasn't learnt to stop that now he never will

joeyates Posted 17 March 2009 Posted 17 March 2009 paddy and tunchev will be solid at the back next season

If Kiso is as bad as you make him out to be, tell me why did he get so many votes as MOTM last season? Plus don't forget, although we got relegated, I'm pretty sure we had the best defensive record in the Championship.
unreachable Posted 17 March 2009 Posted 17 March 2009 Kisnorbo played very well at Millwall in the final stages when we had our backs to the wall to some extent but if we are to move to the Premiership in due course we need players with more style and time on the ball like Tunchev and Hobbs. Tunchev defends effortlessly whereas Kisnorbo scrambles to defend very artlessly. I don't dislike Kisnorbo but would just like a better player in my fantasy world.
Koke Posted 17 March 2009 Posted 17 March 2009 I like him. He's been a good servant for us over the years. Usually solid and dependable and often pops up with the odd goal from set pieces. His major downfalls have been highlighted and discussed in details loads of times on here. Wherever he decides to go, I wish him all the best.
